I wanted to move away from the traditional, predictable approach of stacking floors and slapping on a fancy facade. With this concept, I'm experimenting with pure topological fluidity, literally twisting the architectural mass into an endless ribbon to completely rethink how we experience public space. ​By weaving these two interlocking loops together, I’m exploring a design where there is no clear beginning or end, and no rigid threshold between the interior and the city around it. The dark, ribbed track and the smooth, white ceramic band represent two separate spatial journeys, but they are entirely dependent on each other to keep the structure standing. It’s a deliberate exercise in capturing perpetual motion within a static form, forcing us to rethink how complex, separate systems can collide and support one another. ​

We have taught AI to understand language. We have taught AI to understand images. The next frontier is teaching AI to understand space. SGI — Spatial General Intelligence. Because true intelligence is not only the ability to process information. It is the ability to understand where things exist, how they relate, and how they change through time. Architecture has always been a spatial intelligence problem. A building is not just a collection of walls, floors, and materials. A building is: • movement • atmosphere • emotion • proportion • gravity • memory • human behavior • light and shadow evolving through time Today’s AI can generate the image of a beautiful building. But tomorrow’s SGI will understand why a space feels beautiful. It will recognize that circulation is a choreography of human movement. That fenestrations are a negotiation between interior, climate, and horizon. That a city is a living network of human experiences. The future of architecture will not be about machines obeying designers. It will be about intelligence gaining spatial awareness. AI understands information. AGI aims to understand reasoning. SGI will understand space. And when intelligence finally understands dimensionality, we may stop designing buildings as objects… …and begin designing environments that can learn, adapt, and evolve with us.

Most Philippine mixed-use towers waste their most valuable space. We keep stacking retail at the base, sealing the podium, and treating landscape as surface decoration. Then we wonder why developments feel heavy and repetitive. This concept shifts the hierarchy. A central vertical core carries the technical load. Four commercial volumes orbit it. The gaps between them are carved out as real landscaped voids, not leftover space. That decision changes economics and experience. Voids reduce the sellable area on paper. They increase spatial quality in reality. They create visibility across levels. They invite cross movement. They give retail multiple faces instead of a single frontage. In dense urban environments, permeability is currency. Airflow, daylight, and visual connection translate into longer dwell time and stronger tenant performance. The question developers rarely ask is this. Are we maximizing floor area, or are we maximizing urban energy? I am exploring typologies that prioritize layered interaction over pure stacking logic for the Philippine context. Would you trade a few square meters for a stronger urban experience?

Assume people need constant oversight, and you’ll build rigid systems. Assume people thrive on curiosity, and you’ll build space to explore. Both can be called “efficient". Only one feels alive.

Architects should stop being answerable to people who carry zero project liability. Let’s be honest. There are consultants who make the work better. They challenge assumptions. They catch risks. They protect the client from blind spots. They make the architect sharper. Every serious project needs those people. But there is another type. The so-called expert who sits between the client and the architect with endless opinions, vague authority, and almost no consequence. They question the design direction. They reshape the brief. They delay decisions. They make the architect defend every move. Then when the project gets delayed, diluted, confused, or overcomplicated, guess who gets blamed? The architect. That's the quiet problem nobody talks about enough. Someone can influence the direction of a building from the sidelines, yet the architect remains the one judged when the final work loses coherence. Clients have every right to seek advice. Good advice protects the project. But advice needs structure. It needs scope. It needs accountability. The client must know the difference between a real consultant who strengthens the work and a professional doubter who only makes uncertainty sound expensive.
