My understanding of social media

During this course, I was asked to post weekly in different social media platforms forms. I learn many things from that. First, I learn how to identify my self on my profile. Also, I have learned what this topics that I should post on my accounts as media student. Moreover, I recognized that I have to be careful with verbs and terms that I use because one word can make different. Additionally, l used to use hashtags when I post. Because we were supposed to write about specific topic and collect information then write them in my own style. Furthermore, the most important thing I have learn that I am responsible of what I post on my page because social media becomes one of main sources for information. Last but not the least, Because I am posting in my page, I can watch my progress on doing this. Finally, I am media student so, I have to prove the important of social media platforms on our lives.

Cyber crimes

Can be defined as electronic crimes as "crimes against individuals or groups with a criminal motive to harm intentionally reputation of the victim, or causing physical or psychological harm to the victim, directly or indirectly, by using modern methods such as the Internet communication networks and mobile phones cyber-crime is any criminal offense through computers or networks as processes of penetration and piracy, and also includes the traditional forms of crime that is executed via the Internet Also there are many forms of cyber-crime which are: 1-      Fraud and financial crimes And it includes a variety of Internet fraud such as phishing and social Engineering which target users and companies. 2-      Cyber terrorism which is breakthroughs that are part of an organized effort to terrorists, dissidents, or foreign intelligence agencies, or groups seeking to exploit the potential security gaps in biological systems and Cyber terrorist it’s the person who pays the government or organization to meet its political objectives or social by launching a cyberattack on computers and networks or devices on the information stored on them 3-      Cyber extortion Which when exposed to a Web site or e-mail server or computer system to the repeated attacks of the type of denial of service attacks Or other malicious pirates, who are demanding money in exchange to stop such attacks. 4-      Cyber warefare which is a war that already exist between many countries, but it’s through the Internet and computer networks, devices, and the most prominent example is the attack that on the infrastructure in Estonia in 2007 at the hands of what are believed to be pirates Roussillon   For this reason Oman has release a low to protect the users in internet networks which lead to  helping to achieve information security, Save the the rights of the legitimate use of Computer and Informatics Network, Protect the public interest, morals and ethics and Protection of the national economy.

Women behavior in social media

Social media has multi uses and it is different between society and others. Also it’s different between genders. I did a small questioner about the uses of social media especially for women

 I have found from first question which is how they treat social media many answers for example:

-Social media is modern tool make the communication easier and to do some works in it but some of people deal with it in wrong way

-Social media make the world a small area to learn, communicate, and know about other culture .

-Social media is entertainment tool for free time. Also we can know more about the news around the world from social media in one click

In addition I found from the second question which is how they interact in social media many answers for example:

-Interact with social media by posting picture and videos, writing tweets that express my own vision of the life and my daily moment that I want to keep

-The interact in social media is depend to the apps for example I’m using whatsapp to communicate with friends and family and twitter and Instagram to know about the news also to earn some knowledge

-The interact is in participate and comment in published issues to improve my confidence and knowledge

-The interact in social media is by sending smoothing have meaning to others

 Finally I found from last question which is what they look for in social media many answers for example:

-Searching for knowledge and for expert people who are in my major to learn from their experience and to find new friends from social media

-Looking for local, social and international news and last fashion news also to know about the country projects.

- We look forward to see the Apps that we have now to flourish and improve . also to use new Apps.

-Looking for last news about shopping and also I use social media for shopping

 From this points I found that women use social media for many propos and there is no special interest for women in social media

World's leader and social media

Before years ago, leaders gathered their citizens in public area to discus with them different issues about the countries but with social media revolution, this has changed. There are many world’s leaders who use social media to communicate with the citizen.

They use the platforms that shows the number of followers, able them to post their attitude to the public and shows the comments of the followers in public such as, Facebook and twitter.

I believe that social media is an effective way of communication between the leader and his people. It shows the humanity of the leader because they express their opinion and attitudes towards world issues. Also, it is Democratic manner because they interact with people directly. Additionally. Leader's Presence asserts the concern of him on people’s recommendation and comment toward him and the country. Moreover, it Promote their political attitudes. Furthermore, it is a clever way to get popularity. Nevertheless, it is an easy way for the people to communicate with them.

The most popular leader in the social media isBarack Obama, President of the USA, whose followers on twitter are 78.7 million. He usually posts about his campaigns to develop the country under the hashtag Obama care that increased his popularity. 

 Similarly, HH Sheikh Mohammed, Ruler of Dubai, whose followers on Instagram are 7.04 million shares his daily life. Also, he interact with some of Emirati' Celebrities on Instagram. He assert his humanity and democracy through Instagram. 

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president of Turkey, has 9.3million followers on twitter. He uses Skype in most important political issue in his country. He calls his people twice to go to the street to support him to Confront the putschists.

Finally, Social media is the easier and  faster way of communication between leaders and public

Jimmy Kimmel account on Twitter

Jimmy Kimmel is an American television host, producer, writer, comedian and voice actor. He is the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live! , a late night talk show that premiered on ABC in 2003. Kimmel hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012 and 2016.

His account on twitter is an active account and he have 8 million followers and he followed 488 accounts.

The number of his tweets and retweets from 11 till 25 October 2016 are 38. He used only three links in this period. Also he used mentions in most of his tweets. His average daily tweets about four tweets daily. Most of his tweets on twitter are promoting to his talk show. Ho choose videos and caption from his talk show and he introduce the topic of his talk show in order to attract the audience. The interaction in his account is in people retweets not in comments. The biggest number of retweet in his account in this period is 2324retwwets and lowest number is 43 retweets. He stops tweeting tweets in last three days.

In addition his retweets all are about comments related to him or his talk show.

The using of hashtags in Jimmy account in twitter are in most of his tweets and he usually use one hashtag in each tweet.

His account is an influence because of the retweets of his tweets and the number of his followers which is 8 million.

goals of the UN Millennium development in Oman

There are eight goals of the UN Millennium development which are eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, a chive universal primary education, gender equality and empower women, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/Aids, malaria and other diseases, ensure environmental sustainability, and develop a global partnership for development. Oman seeks to achieve these goals for better society. There is a huge change in Oman from 1990 until 2010. First, It doesn't take consideration on poverty and hunger because it doesn't face this problems. However, developed the system of primary education which is available for all citizens. Also, Oman empower women and give them their rights in education, economic, politics and other fields. Women are equal to men in many aspects of life in Oman. For example, there are three Women who are ministers. Oman succeeded to reduce the percentage of child military from 94% in 1978 to 11% in 2010. It raised the child care in hospitals and spread the awareness of the child immunization. Furthermore, Oman published a book called "facts for life" which health awareness book. Hospitals and schools spread it to Omanis to aware them about child's and mother health, diseases and hygiene. Nevertheless, it ensures that everyone in Oman drink clean water and breath clear air. Finally, Oman has achieved most of UN millennium development goals and works to make Omani people live better life.

-          Grammar and language mistakes.

 Discussion for improvement:

-          When they take information from sources they need to take strongest idea and analyze it in attractive way.

Popular visual culture in Oman

During the centuries people are trying to reflect their culture and identity by draw on the walls. The old civilization saved their history on the walls by carving patterns that lead to specific meaning. The first way to transfer the ideas was by drawing on walls. But nowadays drawing on walls became an art called graffiti.

Here in Oman there are many places have this art. There is a long wall in Sur which is the longest mural wall in port around the world. The length of the wall is 1300 m and it contain more than a hundred paints. Also there is an artist in Liwa in south of Oman who have a lots of paints on wall. This draws are reflect a lots meaning.

There is many concepts from this art like enhance the nationality and the identity on Omani citizen. Also it’s became as tourism destination for tourists. Because of the unique of this art. In addition it’s reflect the orientation of the artist.

This art was forbidden in law in Oman in last period. There was a penalty for people who truing to paint in wall.  But nowadays the organizations in government are seeking to encouragement and educate people in this art. Also it’s seek to teach the artist how to do it in proper way.

Road maintenance between planning and reality

The government of sultanate spending millions of rials in planning street and develop the infrastructure in the country but the reality is different. The roads in the sultanate are suffering from deep holes and lots of damages that’s need to maintenance.

The governments statements always shows that the road maintenance is one of its priorities that make the road users wonders about this applying of this statement and how long it take to become a reality.

There is many reasons cause this road issue such as: the lake of infrastructure which is one of government responsibility in also the changes in climate could be effect on roads and cause many damages on it. The heavy trucks is also a reason that cause weakness in the roads.

All damages in the roads can effects the humane life and cause many dangerous results such as: car accidents, gather the water in the roads after raining which lead to deep holes on the roads more ever the car traffic also can lead to other issue which is environmental palliation so the question is why the roads are in such a bad state? and who is responsible about roads damages?.

In conclusion we sagest that there is many solution could decrease consequence of this issue which are:

Make independent roads for heavy trucks and increasing the number of bridges in the sultanate so it can facilitate the movement of cars. Also they can care of maintenance roads   and take the citizen complain in the consideration.

Women empowerment

There are a lot of changes happened after Omani women get the right to work in the society.

This issue increased in 2003 when his majesty announced to equalize women with men in work field . They involve in several sectors such as, education, medicine, engineering…etc. Also, they get high positions in such as ministers and managers. This changes achieve development and improvement in the society.

They make societies stronger and improve the quality of life. However, many people think that empowering women effect negatively on men. It decreases their chances to get the high position job. Additionally, men by their nature don’t accept receiving orders from women this .

Moreover, some people believe that women who is in a high position will be busy and will not have time to take care of her children.

social interaction and information technologies

Technology revolution has changed the whole world style of life. However, the use of technology information such as , video games, computer games, the internet and e-mail has both positive and negative consequences on social interaction. It transfers the world from huge place to a small village. Also, It makes our lives easier and faster. It is wonderful to contact with a person who is thousands kilometers far a way from us just by one click. Additionally, we can share our daily photos, videos and audio with our families and friends through social websites such as Instagram, Whats app and Facebook. Moreover, it allows us to interact with other cultures. Although positive consequences of technology information, there are many negative results of it. Because of technology information, people are becoming lazy. Also, it makes people online all the time in virtual life but absent from real life which makes a huge gab in families. Furthermore, it takes our almost the whole day. Nevertheless, some of tv shows effect on children. They become more violence and aggressive between each other. Also, some of old people are not familiar with new technology so, they feel isolated from the society.

Blue city

Oman is a country that located in the east of the GCC and arab country. A lot of investors tryed to invest in this country. Blue city is one of the bigest projects which must be copmlated In 2015. The project investors planed to offer 15000 jobs and will improve the tourism. But it's not complated. There are three main reasons that the project not being complated. The first reason, the goverment doesn't provide the facilities that the investors needed which is made some financially and laboratory difficulties. And big problmes happened between the investors. The second reason is non strong strategic plan showed and wrong decision like there are started to give high salary to the managerial departments & above. spending money in such unuseful need. how ever, the lack of a clear time accountant from the day the project started was a reason to the public & govermoant to feel the lose of contunig the Bluse City project without any legal and parilament obsrvation.

Social media and language hastening

Language is the most important tool to communicate with others. Because of social media, several changes occurred to it. In the past lexicographers spent a long time to study the word and decide whether it could be added to the dictionary, or not. However, the case is different nowadays many words get into the dictionary annually. It is noticeable that the language from the Middle-Ages is totally different than the language we use in this digital world. Many words have been added to the English lexicon; for example, the word google was not found, but due to the social media, it is now a bona fide member of the English vocabulary. Words like emoji, woot, and photobomb have had similar issues. For example, Because of the influence of social media, many Omani people tend to use English language in applications like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsAspp etc. They sometimes code switch while using these applications, and in their switching they often spell English words using Arabic alphabets and in certain cases they mix numbers with letters to create English words. The spread of social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp etc., in Oman is having a great impact on language. Because of social media, Omanis started to use English language while chatting with others. In their conversations they usually use abbreviations and acronyms such as LOL, and OMG. Sometimes they apply this way of shortening phrases or sentences to the Arabic language; for example, most people use ت.ع.خ when they want to say good night in Arabic. However, Social media is not only adding words, but also changing the language’s vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. This is leading to controversy around the impact of social media on language.

New media nowadays

My dear grandfather, I know that your generation is different than nowadays because you didn't use the new technology like we use it today. New media become a very important thing in our lives .We use new media to share informations, ideas and experiences or contact anyone in anywhere at anytime . Also, the government uses technology in doing their works. For example, organizations use new media to promote their company around the world and to communicate with customers and other organizations. It makes the big world a small village. I really in passion with the magic of new media and I would like to teach how to deal with it .
