You have known the Dolans ever since you could remember. You are the same age as the Ethan and Grayson but you, Cameron, and the boys were the best of friends.
It was no secret the boys were attractive. But you could never deny your feelings for Ethan. You convinced yourself that telling him how you felt would ruin the beautiful friendship the four of you had. You pushed your feelings deep down and did everything you could to get over him. You had boyfriend after boyfriend but none of them made you feel the same way Ethan did.
Your choice in guys got worse every time you got a new one. They would be assholes, douchebags, fuckboys, cheaters, but none of them were as horrible as your current boyfriend. Jack was a monster. He was jealous of how much time you spent with Ethan and Grayson and he took it out on you. He hit you, slammed you up against walls, and kicked you while you were down. You were so afraid of what he would do if you tried to break up with you so you did nothing.
Your phone lit up and you read a text from Cam “HOT TUBE TIME!!! Come over!!!”
Great, you thought. Your worst nightmare just came true. You could never say no to hanging out with them because you knew they would know something was up and do everything in their power to figure it what was wrong. You were scared they would see the bruises, the scars, but it was better than them poking and and prodding if you said you couldn’t come
You replied, “I’ll be right over!” and not 30 seconds later you got a text back from her that read “YAAAAAAAY!!!!!”
You went over to your dresser and looked for the long sleeved one piece you bought last summer. You put it on and went over to the bathroom mirror. The bathing suit successfully covered the bruises that could be found up and down your arms, your back, your stomach, your ribs, and your shoulders. You planned out a story for the bruise on your knee because you couldn’t think of a way over hiding it.
You put on some sweats, grabbed your keys, and a bag of extra clothes, and went out to your car. As you sat in your car, a pit formed in your stomach. You were so scared what was going to happen. What if they found out? You picked up your phone and called Cameron to tell her you were on the way.
You got to the house and as you pulled into the driveway the front door swung open and Grayson ran out and over to the drivers side door. You parked the car and he opened your door.
“Y/N!!!! I’VE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!” He said as he held his arms wide open. You giggled and hopped out of the car hugging him around his waist hoping he would hug you around your neck making sure not to make contact with the bruises. He always gave really good hugs and a Grayson hug is just what you needed right now.
He pulled back and said “Ethan and Cameron are in the back, I’m gonna go get some towels.” You nodded and the two of you parted ways.
You made your way to the back door and took a long, deep breath. Here goes nothing, you mumbled under your breath as you opened the door. They were both in the tub but when they heard you come out they turned their heads and scrambled to their feet fighting each other to see who could get to you first. Cameron was just about to get out of the hot tube when suddenly Ethan grabbed her by her hair and pulled her back in. He jumped out and ran towards you while Cameron slowly got out of the water so angry that cartoon steam could have been coming out of her ears. Ethan picked you up by your waist and wave of feelings consumed you. You felt butterflies in your stomach when he pulled you close but you couldn’t hold back the pain you were in when he picked you up and spun you around. You winced in pain and you felt his grip around you loosen.
“What’s wrong Y/N? Did I hurt you?!” Ethan said with worry in his eyes.
“No, no. It’s nothing.” You quickly replied in an attempt to change the subject as quickly as possible. Ethan didn’t believe you but pushed the idea to the back of his head.
“AHHH” Cameron screamed as she climbed out of the tub and ran over to hug you. She gave you a big hug but she wasn’t as strong as Ethan so it was easier to hide the pain.
Grayson came out with four towels. He put them on a chair and proceeded to take off his shirt. He jumped into the hot tube and splashed some water onto Ethan. Ethan then jumped in and the two of them started wrestling in the water.
You laughed at them and turned to Cameron and said, “you go ahead, I’ll come over in a sec.” She nodded and went over to the tub to take pictures of the boys.
You can do this Y/N, you thought to yourself as you began to take off you clothes leaving yourself in only your bathing suit. You walked over to the tub when Cameron notices the multi colored bruise on your knee.
“Um… Y/N? What the hell happened?” She said pointing at your knee.
“Oh, that,” You said. “I fell down the stairs. It was actually really funny.” You laughed attempting to convince them of the story you had made up. It didn’t work. They could tell something was wrong. You stepped into the tub and to change the mood you decided to splash Ethan.
An over dramatic gasp escaped his lips as he started to move closer to you.
“You are going to regret that Y/N.” He said as the space between you got smaller and smaller. Grayson and Cameron sat on the other side of the tub laughing together.
Ethan was standing directly in front of you now. His warm body barely an inch from yours. His eyes staring into yours. His warm breath covering your face. A smirk spread across his face as he picked you up and spun you around in the water. For some reason, in that moment, the pain was unbearable and you let out a whimper that you immediately regretted and started to tear up. The three of them were laughing until they noticed the state you were in.
Ethan saw a tear fall down your cheek and stopped spinning you. Once again his eyes were filled with hurt and his grip around you loosened. But this time, instead of pulling away, he pulled you closer. Scattered tears quickly turned into streams of tears. His touch made you feel safe.
He picked you up with soft hands bridal style and you on the edge of the tub. Cameron and Grayson came over to comfort you as Ethan stood in front of you holding your hands in his.
In a deep, soft tone Ethan said “Y/N, what’s going on?”
You didn’t want to say it out loud. You hadn’t told anyone what Jack had been doing to you. All you could do was wipe the tears off your face and roll up your sleeves revealing the dark bruises.
Cameron took a step back with a hand on her mouth. Grayson was frozen in his place. Ethan clenched his jaw and anger filled his eyes. He ran his fingers over the bruises, examining them.
“Did he do this to you?” He said not taking his hands or his eyes off your arms. You waited till his eyes met yours and when they did, you nodded.
Cameron started to cry and Grayson came over to you and rolled down your sleeves. Ethan closed his eyes tight and put your hands back into his.
“Why didn’t you tell me Y/N?” He said in a quiet and hurt way.
“I didn’t know how to. I was afraid what you would think of me.” You said with your head down. “I thought you would think I was weak.” You added with a shaky voice.
He wiped away a tear on your face and said “Y/N, you are the strongest person I have ever met.”
Cameron and Grayson sat next to you and started to rub your back. When you flinched at their touch they were startled and took their hands off of you.
“What did he do to you?” Cameron said with sadness and concern in her voice.
You all sat there as you told them everything that was going on.
“It’s all my fault.” You said with your head in your hands. “If I wasn’t such a slut none of this would have ever happened!”
Cameron grabbed your face and said “You. Are. NOT. A. Slut. You are looking for the perfect guy and you just haven’t found him yet.”
Without thinking first, you yanked your head away from her hands and said “But that’s the thing Cam, I have found him!” They all looked up at you with confusion on their faces.
“Wait, what are you talking about Y/N?” Grayson said.
Great Y/N. Just GREAT! You thought to yourself as you got out of the edge and ran over to your things.
“Um, I have to go. I…I just…um…I need to go.” You scrambled to get your things and you ran into the house and towards the front door. You opened the door but a strong force pushed it closed. It was Ethan. He had come running after you.
“You can’t leave right now Y/N. What if he’s back at your apartment? It’s not safe to go home right now.” He said with his hand pushing on the door.
“I’ll be fine E. I just need to go and think.” You said trying to open the door but he was too strong and the door didn’t even budge.
“Go upstairs and get changed. We still have more to talk about.” He said pointing with his other hand in the direction of the stairs.
You were starting to get frustrated and said “There’s nothing to talk about Ethan. I told you everything.”
“No you didn’t. We still need to talk about what you are going to do next and when you’re going to the doctor and what you meant by when you said you already “found him”.” He said and you couldn’t take it anymore. Your emotions were all over the place and you couldn’t control what you were saying.
“IT’S YOU E! IT’S ALWAYS BEEN YOU E!” You said as your face turned as red as a tomato. His hand came off the door and you threw it open and ran over to your car. You looked around for your keys when you noticed Ethan running towards you.
“Y/N STOP! PLEASE WE NEED TO TALK!” He said.
You turned to him and said “Ethan, I didn’t mean what I said. Just forget it.”
He was about to turn you around but he didn’t want to hurt you so he just stood in front of you and said “Don’t leave me like this. Talk to me Y/N.”
“Do you really want to know Ethan?” You said back.
“Yes. I really do.” He replied.
“I’m in love with you Ethan. I have been for as long as I can remember. My friendship with you is the most important thing in the whole world to me and I didn’t want to ruin it by telling you what I felt.” You couldn’t help but feel a weight lifted off your shoulders after you told him.
“But…what about all those other guys?” He said.
You sighed and said “I thought that they could make me forget about my feelings for you but none of them made me feel the way you do, I mean did…”
He just stood there looking at you. You didn’t like the silence and said “Ethan, I don’t expect you to say anything…” He interrupted you by saying “Y/N. Even though we were little, I knew the second I saw you that you were the most beautiful thing I will ever see. I love you Y/N Y/L. I have wanted to tell you but then you started dating all these other guys and so I never told you.”
You were so surprised you couldn’t move.
“Fuck it.” He said and pulled you close, placing his hands on the small of your back, while his soft lips met yours. It was as if time stood still. It was perfect. You pulled away first and he said “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.”
Your face turned red and you said “I actually do.”
“Will you come inside now? I think we have some more to talk about.” He said.
“I think that’s a good idea.” You said as you grabbed his hand and the two of you walked back inside.
