one of the best decisions I made for Leon's playlist is putting I Don't Dance from High School Musical in there, half because it's just silly and fitting but also half because for some reason it's sandwiched between two Bo Burnham songs,
im a brunette leon truther but i cant deny that blond is the funniest option
(rubs my hands together) i made a trigger happy havoc au and its kinda sexy if i do say so myself

you've been in an awful lot of wrong places at the wrong time lately. - jin
Leon is no stranger to being scolded. Depending on who is doing it, though, his response will usually vary. With strangers, he brushes it off with ease, since they usually just wanna control what he does overall. With friends, he playfully protests but takes it to heart. With his father, he's quick to retaliate as long as they're in private, harsh words and biting remarks flying free with reckless abandon.
Headmaster Kirigiri doesn't fit cleanly into any of those categories. Like hell is he gonna ignore what he's being told, but retaliation is more of a reserved thing. Protesting, seriously or not, is just bound to get him in more trouble, but sitting and taking everything to heart regardless of if he's in the wrong doesn't sit well with how his mind wants him to act.
He is in the wrong this time, to be clear. Such was the result of letting himself be talked into various pranks gone wrong, many of which ended up with Jin himself as the recipient of many results. Purely accidental, honest! But it doesn't look good for Leon either way, not when the others are a little better at hiding their tracks than he is.
Initially, there's really nothing for Leon to say, and so he sits quiet for once instead, arms crossed over his chest as Jin stares him down from across the desk. All of sudden, everything else in the headmaster's office is a lot more interesting to look at than the man himself. Severing eye contact doesn't make it any less intense, though. Leon squirms, uncomfortably, in his chair. God, someone get him out of here...!
"Yeah, well, sorry, I guess." As soon as the words leave his mouth, he cringes at the sound of them. It's a genuine apology. He's just never learned to make it sound that way. "You- You're not gonna, like, write me up about this, right...?" All things considered, it's really not that serious, not compared to other things he's either already done or could be doing instead. But if he gets a call home over something this ridiculous, he's really not gonna hear the end of it...
"are you drunk ?" from chihiro !!
Before he ever takes the first drink that's given to him, Leon knows it's a bad idea. With every sip that follows after the first, it's a concern that gets repeated until his head is finally too fuzzy to bother with it. By the time standing upright proves to be a significant challenge, there's barely enough space left in the fuzz of his skull for his brain to push out the idea that maybe he should lay down. Once he manages to trudge his way through blurry halls and gets himself horizontal, the fractured thought crosses his mind that it feels like he got a lot more than what he was told he was getting... He probably should've known better than to take anything from someone so shady. Never again.
Distantly, there's the sound of his name in a familiar voice, followed by a question. A question he thinks has to be repeated since he fails to process it the first time. Either that, or he's really just that gone. With great effort, he lifts his head up off the bed and pries his dry eyes open. The walls of his room are...startingly dull. And tall. And much further out than he remembers them being. He blinks once, twice, then squints at the room once more.
Oh. This is the gym. That would explain a few things.
"C'mon, Roro... Guy can't just take a gym nap for fun?" It's in character for a totally sober version of himself to mistake the gym for his room... Right?
Realizing just how much energy it's currently taking to hold his head up, he lets it thunk back down against the bed- er, no, the bleachers. Which, of course, he immediately regrets, as pain shoots through his head and gathers behind his eyes. Groaning at the ache, he flings an arm over his eyes.
"...Yeah," he finally answers them properly, "jus' a little bit." He really doesn't have many other experiences to compare it to in order to answer that any other way. He's not against indulging every now and then, but people seem to think he parties a lot harder than he actually does. Although, when he ends up in situations where he mistakes the bleachers for his bed, there's probably good reason for that. Huffing, he drops the arm from his eyes so he can drag a finger over his lips. An attempt is made to shush her in case anyone else happens to be in the area to overhear them, though it comes out mostly as a giggle instead. He can't help it, this is stupid.
"Go 'head, pop a squat." The hand drops again, this time, to pat the bleachers beside him. "Ya can have what's left. If the bottle's around. S'gotta be somewhere..."
'i just-- i don't like the way he speaks to you, that's all.' yknow what he can have this from Tozen too but it's about Kazuo :)
One would think that, after the last time Tozen went off on Leon's father, he would think twice about hosting any events like this at their place and a few more times if there was even a slight chance that Tozen would be here. Acting before thinking must run in the family.
Regardless of what he did or didn't do beforehand, his father ends up hosting again, and for most of the night, events go about as smooth as they can. Specifically because Leon holds his tongue each time Kazuo tells him where to put something, or what to do, or what to say, or to quit slouching, or to stop picking at his fingers, or to "fix your hair, you look like a mess", or to "quit wandering off, can you focus for once?" On, and on, and on he goes. Each time, a snarky remark rises to Leon's tongue, and the reality of his position makes him force each one right back down. He's not allowed to snap. Not like this. Not with people around. If people talk and he ends up making his own dad look bad, he'll never hear the end of it.
Tozen, meanwhile, hears each thing. Leon can practically feel the tension rise each time his father opens his mouth, and the final time, he doesn't quite get Tozen to back off before he lashes out. Kazuo, for what it's worth, doesn't respond to him. Though the look he shoots Leon says that he clearly expects him to speak for him. Like it's his fault Tozen has called him out a second time.
Scowling, Leon compromises by tugging Tozen out of his dad's reach and back up the stairs to his room, ensuring that Kazuo can hear the sound of his door slamming behind him from all the way downstairs. One of these days, he's sure it'll fling off the hinges and he'll earn a whole other lecture ( from everyone who lives here, honestly; he forgets sometimes it's not actually just his and his father's house ), but for now, it holds steady enough for Leon to lean back against it, squeeze his eyes shut, and tangle his fingers in his hair. It's only been a few hours, but being back home like this makes him feel like he's going to throw up. He really doesn't need all that on top of it. He can already perfectly imagine the lecture he's bound to get for it later, if he lets himself leave his room once everyone else has gone home.
"Tozen, I can take it. You don't have to white knight for me every damn time," he says, when he can feign calmness enough to reply to Tozen's defense. Clearly he can take it. If it wasn't for the years of getting used to bullshit like this, he wouldn't be so comfortable when Tozen defaults to his usual aggression. "We just...gotta let him wear himself out, alright? He always fucks off eventually."
telling myself i need to expand my vocabulary bc i fear my writing is getting repetitive vs me giggling each time i get the chance to write "stupid" into something
'i just-- i don't like the way he speaks to you, that's all.' is Mondo getting protective bc of Tozen? I think Mondo is getting protective bc of Tozen
It may not seem like it, but Leon does have his routines. His are just a tad looser than other people's might be. Tozen, whether he likes it or not, is part of that routine. When and where Leon happens to find him and how long it'll take to get on his nerves varies from day to day, but one thing's always for certain: it happens. Today is no different, aside from the fact that he happens to have Mondo in tow for once.
Comparatively, today is pretty tame. He'd barely even count what he was barked at with as insulting. Which is insulting in its own right, really. Is it because he's got company? Tozen's not afraid of Mondo, is he? ...Is something wrong today, maybe? Is that why he didn't go in as hard as Leon would've preferred he did? Weird. He'd have to text him about it later.
When their original plans get back on track ( and they've acquired the Slurpees they set out for in the first place; very serious business! ), the earlier confrontation completely slips Leon's mind. They rarely stick in there for long anyway, what with his tendency to change the subject and get distracted from something that doesn't register as negative to begin with. But, when it seems Mondo has something to say about it, Leon looks up from his drink at him like he's said the most stupid thing he's ever heard. Tozen's personality isn't exactly a quiet one, so it's no secret how he acts—why's it suddenly a problem now?
"Seriously? What's your damage, man? Tabloids say bad shit about me sometimes, too. I don't ever hear you complain about those." He fills the immediate, tense quiet with the sound of him sucking down a long, obnoxious sip through his straw, irritation bubbling beneath the surface. The cool ice of his drink does nothing to ease the embarrassed heat that rises to his cheeks. Whether it's from having their dynamic pointed out by someone else or from the reminder that he does like how Tozen speaks to him remains unclear. "It's really not that big of a deal. You're stressin' out over nothing."
This fucking guy… shakes fist at sky
do i piss you off? do you wanna fuck about it?
