I was reading some stories I’ve read in Finnish before in English and-

I’m gonna post some comparisons here. The writer of the story is Finnish but he would have written the script in English. However, Uncle Scrooge magazine has rewritten the dialogue (as they do for most stories) so I’m pretty sure the Finnish version is closer to the original script. In any case, interesting comparison:

Direct translation of the Finnish version: “In a way I’m partly to blame for this catastrophe. Our war over my number one dime caused this whole mess.”

“The comet is difficult to spot and besides, it was supposed to pass Earth close by anyway.”

“Oh dear! (sniff) How could I be so stupid?”

So in conclusion, U$ Scrooge is a bigger asshole here.

And it’s not like Scrooge isn’t being, well Scrooge in this story, the Finnish version is just a way more balanced person and I prefer it here a lot. I’m not 100% certain who is to blame here but since Korhonen considers Scrooge to be genuinely nice and just misunderstood, and ‘greedy maybe, but never mean-spirited’ well…

I think my favorite little parallel in Ducktales is the kids having overhyped expectations and then the camera cutting to what it actually is.

Dewey: “A couple of hours with the most EXCITING duck in the world!”

Of course I will. Though tbh. I don't recall watching much of the original duck tales. But I sorta think I love the reboot a lot.

Aww! It was one of my favorites as a little girl. You should try it sometime! But I think that it will be enjoyable for everyone, whether you have seen the original or not! :D

So everyone’s flipping out about the reboot’s Mrs. Beakley being a badass, well the original certainly wasn’t a slouch when it came to heroics.

If you’ve been skeptical about the reboot, please give it a chance. As a girl who watched the original as a child, I can confirm that it looks promising. Watch the first episode. Keep an open mind, but try it. I was impressed, myself. It’s cute!

With the reboot coming out, I’m feeling nostalgic for Ducktales again. So sorry I don’t keep up with this blog well, but maybe I’ll watch some Ducktales later and post some caps ;)
