4. Which one of your ocs do you wish people would pay more attention to?

This is a hard question to answer because if there are any ocs that people aren't paying attention to it's my own fault for not drawing them enough lmao

that being said I hope people like Achillea & co when I start seriously working on her project... :)

7. Which of your ocs has the most tragic backstory and why?

My first instinct is to say Achillea but outside of a couple notable incidents she had a pretty cushy upbringing even by evil princess of evil land standards... her """backstory""" is the most normal part of her life and it just goes down hill from there lol

tbqh it's probably Lorra. Her backstory is all about isolating herself in favour of focusing on her singing, but singing slowly stops making her feel good after hundreds of lonely meaningless performances. Like yeah of course after years and years and years with no friends or sunlight or joy you're going to feel a little bit husk-like. go make meaningful eye contact with one of the three freaks available to you and maybe you'll feel better.

“From Overseas, With Love” is an upcoming free-to-download digital fanzine celebrating Chinese Vsynth from all around the world! This fanzine features works by a variety of incredibly talented fans in the international community, and we’re super excited to share it with you all!

Along with artwork, a number of song covers in multiple different languages (Chinese, Japanese, English, Spanish, and French) have been created for this fanzine’s release, as well as a completely original English theme song featuring Luo Tianyi, Stardust, Xinhua, and Dongfang Zhizi.

A Chinese language version will release shortly after the English version, so those in Mainland China can access the contents with ease!

The fanzine will be available for download here, on its dedicated neocities page, on May 1st! Please look forward to it!! 💌

9. Which of your ocs do you think you would get along best with in real life?

This is a good question! I really had to think about this… I think that I’d actually get along well with Orion, in the right circumstances. I feel very comfortable in places where I “get to be” earnest and that’s like, encouraged and everyone else gets excited too, so I think in the right setting Orion’s enthusiasm would enchant me. I think he’d be fun to talk to, I guess.

The other answer is Cornelia, because I modeled a few of her internal sentiments after my own, so I know our worldviews are similar enough that we’d have enough commonality.

11. Do you have an oc “type?” (AKA, are there any design or characterization trends that you notice popping up amongst your characters?)

I like fake guys and liars, and I think that bleeds over into my characters. Sol and Celosia view their personalities as a performance; Evelynn believes she can lie her way into actually becoming what she wants; Sinclair acts differently around everyone and doesn’t really believe in a true version of themself. More simply, I also tend to make characters with flat affects and a sort of “emptiness” (Wyatt; Astrid; my Lancer pilot Iida; the doll I’ve yet to name) as well as characters who feel overwhelmed and trapped by circumstance (Cornelia; Avi; my Roadwarden Vervain).

In terms of design, I’ve mentioned this before, but I have a few characters whose hairstyles are vaguely representative of their mental state. It’s most obvious with Sinclair and Evelynn, but I’ve done with this Cornelia and Orion too. I like to trace this back to Marcille from Dungeon Meshi and that panel of taking down her hair before reviving Falin. Also, I have a recurring visual element of characters being vaguely menaced by versions of themselves – Sinclair with their portrait; Cornelia with her reflection or younger self; Celosia with her shadow/true form. Wyatt and Ru Xian are juxtaposed with their prophesied forms on occasion, but I haven’t leaned into it as much as the others, visually.
