The other day I was thinking about a situation in which Ruby, daughter of Wicked and Chip [oc], is brought into the past.
Usual time-traveling shenanigans except the solution involves erasing everyone in the past's memory of what happened, so nothing is of real consequence. Just an exploration in characters and their dynamics.
Chip would be so horrified by this tiny thing approaching them, calling them "Papa" "Chippy." So afraid of the idea that they had any hope for a future with such a darling offspring being a trick that they physically push her away. Ruby's heartbroken, of course, she thought she recognize her parent while in a strange place but is clearly wrong. She runs off, Chip regrets their instincts and gets in contact with Motherboard and the Cybersquad for help.
I like the idea of Ruby eventually finding Wicked and she handles the situation a lot better. She also thinks this is a trick, but she's not about to mistreat a baby, lol. She might carry the poor thing as if it's a designer purse rather than a child, but clearly it's better than how Chip reacts.
Love, love, love the idea of when Dr. Marbles says he can find a way to send her back to the future it would create a soft "refresh" of the timeline and wipe all their memories, the trio ask Ruby a million questions about their future.
Matt and Jackie are absolutely flabbergasted when she offhandedly mentions they're married in the future. Inez is unsurprised. And Ruby tells Matt "he's just like Chippy," referring to him being nonbinary. He's very pretty. No, surely she means handsome, right? No, they have long hair like Mommy [Wicked] and wear pretty clothes.
Ugh, I got so lost in the sauce thinking about JaxMatt, sitting back to back and having a conversation about their supposed future together. I wish I had the motivation to draw or write it out, but I just don't, lol. I always feel like I think up amazing dialog then when I go to write it, even if second later, I forget everything said. I try writing any lines I remember at all and fill it in from there but... it just hits differently. Less.
Jackie asking if Matt really likes her... in anyway. He fumbles over his words, doesn't really know how he feels about her. She's like his best friend. She feels so different yet just like him at the same time. The two agree they simply get one another. Jackie asks Matt how he feels about not being a guy, he says he is! He is. He doesn't feel like a girl... Realizing neither of them will remember this conversation, he admits sometimes he just wishes he was more like her and Inez. And he has wondered if that meant being a girl.
Matt jokingly apologizes that Jackie ends up with someone like him. Lots of dumb emotions far beyond these two's ability to yet handle. Still, they hug, they've always known they wanted to be apart of each other's lives.
Inez does pry Ruby about her own future, she's curious and not above it herself. She can't help being happy to hear that Ruby loves her Aunt Nezzie and Creech. Also she's apparently very big and strong, can easily lift Ruby over her shoulder like Matty does in their futures.
Halfway through writing this I thought about Wicked loving the idea she's a Queen in her future. A queen of where though? Happily Ever After? No? Apparently that belongs to some bean-throwing nitwit and his faceblind wife [Jack and Red]. Ruby showing Wicked where he kingdom will be but... it's a giant dip in the edge of the cybersite. Chip revealing this is where their home once was as a child. A kingdom that fell.
Ruby assures them they all have a kingdom there in her time. Chip asks if there are more people... who look like the two of them. There aren't. They're disappointed but unsurprised. And at the very least Ruby is there. Then Ruby makes Wicked give her uppies so the three of them can hug
Very self indulgent, nothing burger of an idea as everyone simply forgets once Ruby goes back to her time. Little mishap of a spell with Queen Wicked trying to teleport the two somewhere that needs rectifying. Ruby ends up in Control Central back in her time, so everyone simply believes Wicked teleported her too far or something.
