Just a tiny Romeo (Short Film) edit! (I was so between Older and Diet but I made it with Diet because it fits.) Lana my queen...
I drew this in one of my free times, (never tried this art style before.)
Part 3 of Student Body 2022 Review.
Mr.Aunspach… shit okay, see, this is where all my thoughts will shine because I actually liked this character. Not just because Camargo plays it, but mostly that the plot gives some shit to understand him, like Jane and Merritt. Like ok, the clothing?
SERVES. I actually think that their clothes are nice,
I liked Merritt’s 80’s pastel glitter style but she is a show off bitch,
Jane’s clothing are simple which is very cute, suits her alot! Back to Aunspach though.. I think his clothing, the suit, is a big give off about how he is a strict man, the hammer and the fiddler reference was a cheff kiss, I actually liked the speach he even given to the kids, the fiddler story, and it actually made me think about it. (Lee, the director and the writer, her writing and voicing Aunspach is very good, I aprish her writing here especially about the fiddler part.) I can see where she came from with this movie, I don’t think most people who put reviews doesn’t talk much about the writer/director themselfs, which, understandable, but think about it. The fiddler, doesn’t do shit all year while the family builds themselfs a place FROM SCRATCH, then that fiddler, begs them to stay, which,is very selfish (that fiddler is definetly Merritt, not the other three.) And that family not giving shit and the fiddler dies. Okay okay, don’t get mad, back to Aunspach! (like I said so many times before, give me a break.) He is sarcastic, but he is not directly a harsh person until he hears Merritt’s and Jane’s convo that they have outside. (The crush and family issues and retake convo.) You gonna ask, HOW THE FUCK YOU KNOW THAT. See, at the end of that convo, the camera shows from a windows angle,
which we see after some scenes that Aunspach aproaches the windows alot, (He looks like that one standing man emoji here.)
(I know they are different windows, that window probably looks at the side not the back, so he probably changed places to watch.) WHICH MEANS, Aunspach, totally heard them, heard what Merritt said, heard what Jane said in response, and he knowingly used that to lift Jane.
He is, as a villian, not the real villian until he actually becomes one after Merritt’s death. (Which makes sense, because while Merritt thought she was a mother to Jane, he wanted to be something too, to her atleast.) I forgot where I saw but I saw a writing that said he is a pedo… He is not. If he wished so I think he wouldn’t be this patient enough to let her kill Merritt, he would’ve done himself so. The ”assult” he does is screaming and shaking her bag, not herself, like yeah I get the point where he shouldn’t have threw all of her contents onto the floor (she is a girl ok, maybe she has her personal girly stuff in there, ass move.)
But, Jane and Merritt goes to the princibal,
and Jane says he assulted her, shaked her??? He didn’t touch her at all, if he wished so he could’ve and he is not a idiot that he will directly touch her or hit her, that is pointless, for both of them, especially for him.
His whole explanation about her and her friends make sense, because he heard them, he knows what the fuck is going on between Merritt and Jane to a deggree.
There is a obvious rivalry between Merritt and Aunspach after that gum chewing in the class, that is a ignite, and then it becomes a full flame in the end. It is understandable, but it is childish that he went that far for her, just because she understands better than her other classmates doesn’t make her much different from them. His scenes weren’t much which was so fucking weird because the movie calls itself slasher, horror, he is the damn slasher,
like he wears the mascot outfit, even matches his weapon to the mascots one, and you gonna ask, ”why the fuck does he kill them?” he is not fully doing it out of hate towards them, he is doing those killings because he got shitted on after that Princibal talk, (probably had to leave the school for that. Losing his job.) That isn’t much obvious because the whole movie is filled with plot holes and such, the characters devolopment only happens for the sake of the plot, and that goes sadly for Aunspach too. I know you gonna say ”BUT HE SNIFFED HER PENCIL”
I don’t think that is written to make him a pedo, more so that to show his obsession about learning and teaching, could be that to throw off Jane knowingly too, the guy isn’t a dumbass, and I think when he wanted Jane to come closer, he was going to kill her off like the rest because she resisted so much. The talk about turning her into a ”woman” probably referenced how Merritt acted towards her like a child, her child, and he changes that to make her stand in her own, not for people but her own, and ”you should be greatefull” line is obviously refering to all that killings he had done.
Him, losing his eye, waist stabbed scenes ago, and him finally deciding to kill her,
but she kills him with his own hammer, actually proves his point. She took the hammer, and hammered.
And all that worked in a way that he just didn’t hoped for. Him getting hurt randomly was funny though, that waist stab and him going ”AUGHHHH” was so shittingly funny I’m not kidding. He died where Jane found peace, between trees and by his own hammer. You go girl!
My points for this movie? 6/10! because I can see the work, I can see why people shits on it (I did too.) But, give this movie a chance, not for the slasher and horror part but for the drama Jane, Meritt, and every other character has.
Thank you, for reading my shitty review and my thoughts, I’ll write more of them in my free time.
Part 1. === Part 2.
Part 2 of Student Body 2022 Review.
Merritt is a bitch, first off, I liked her being head high, break the devils leg girl, but she is a selfish idiot, forces and uses people around her, lies and makes annoying remarks,
and that open eye glare made me laugh so hard, she looks like a angry mother, which I see what you did there movie. She wants to be the popular girl, and in a way she is a popular girl, she is witty and her wittyness only comes from her words, not actions.
She injures her ankle and becomes a weight to Jane and Ellis, and ontop of that, she puts shit into Jane’s mind (That scene where her and Jane puffed outside, Merritt saying ”Do you have a crush on him?” meaning AUNSPACH???)
YOU ARE A CHILD?? She wasn’t fond of Aunspach much, her behaviour doesn’t change much to him except that she listens to him just because he is a teacher. Her words to Jane at the end where she says ”I CLEANED YOUR CLOTHES, I AM YOUR MOTHER” and shit like that made me laugh so hard I almost threw my knives at the screen- girl doesn’t understand sister love I guess. By the way, this girl has a crush on Ellis, and she lies to Ellis that AUNSPACH ASSULTED JANE, Ellis, believes her like a dumbass cuz it’s Merritt, she never lies right? Right??… Her death was well deserved, I don’t wanna hear Merritt protectors, don’t protect her she can do that herself.
(Lol she became a jelly.)
Ellis, is a kid, that is interested in politics, has a crush on Jane (yes that weird love traingle the fuck.) He is the groups ”handsome” teen I guess they add in these type of movies, (If by some chance you have a crush on him, I am not gonna judge you but judge you internally, this is a safe space I only allow as so.) He is protective, a worried friend to all of the group, especially for Jane because, crushing… (I am judging myself right now thank you very much, I said it’s a safe space but not for me.) By the way, he is useless, he is just there to make the drama plot, act like a hero, so we can say that he is the male version of Merritt but soft and not a bitch. His death was very cool, but for reasons I don’t understand, we never see the bodies of the dead in this movie fully (which is a big down grade, like why the fuck are you calling yourself a slasher movie then?)
(boi got bonked.)
Eric, the groups goofy kid, he is the ”comedic kid who get’s bashed in the toilet to become one with the toilet”. He is loud, talks and says whatever comes up to his mind, he is very close to Nadia, you’ll see them both close to each other, his story is just for the kill and the plot. His death is the first death we see from Anvil Al/Aunspach, and his death isn’t much of a surprise since he was so drunk, puking his guts, singing a song then bam he dies, but I can say that his kill is the most effective one because it’s the first one. Sadly, the movie doesn’t show much again, reminded me of the FNAF movie like, LET US SEE THE DAMN CORPSE LIKE I WANNA APRISH THE MAKE UP ARTISTS JOB WITH THOSE BLOOD AND GORE EFFECTS, and if, you are squimish, I get it, most of you probably don’t wanna look at the gore unless it is a good kill, BUT THIS ONE WAS in my opinion. The guy who plays him is in his thirties last time I checked (A month ago. I might be wrong.) I think he could be more than what he was, not just Eric but Ellis and Nadia as well.
(Another bonked boi.)
Nadia is the groups strong, football girlie, she has a crush on Eric, and she is much hated (more than Merritt, I know, shocking.) by most of the reviews I’ve seen so far. They mostly shit on her acting, which is sad because every actor/actress tries their best I’m sure but I’m not gonna say that I defend her, I think, atleast in this movie, she played the scenes at the start fairly, until that scene where they where on the corridor and she aproaches Anvil Al like she can actually do something to a guy who wields a damn sledgehammer.
She dies, of course. saying ”YOU KILLED HIM!” but like, shittingly bad, like that part was so bad so I understand if people didn’t like her acting but actors/actresses learn by doing it, this goes to other people that are in this movie except Camargo, which, he is a great actor already. She gets side bonked by the sledgehammer, which, is cool because we see her corpse. (Yes my distaste for kills are very obvious I know.)
Part 1 === Part 3
Why no one talks about Student Body 2022? And why people hate this movie? (Review..?)
Okay, so, first, warning! I swear, I love swearing I don't care what you think of my swearing, second, violence, this film is a "slasher" movie so I warned you. Oh and typo's because I'm writing with scarred hands, oh and teen age drama, because why the fuck not? SPOILERS DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T KNOW, GO WATCH THE MOVIE DAMN IT, then come back here if you wish or not it’s ok. These are all my thoughts and my review, so if we are not on the same page, we don’t have to be, I would love to hear your own thoughts! This might turn into a villian aprish moment because I just love villians and background characters, so be warned. This is gonna be a part-part review! I’ll put the next pages at the end of the writings! I’m not gonna fix my typos, not yet atleast because I didn’t sleep and I’m a busy person. (English is not my native language.)
To give you a context, I watched alotta movies (especially horror movies, though I'm sure I dunno some of the movies out there (especially the newer ones.) This movie, says that "I'm a slasher movie and you gonna like me! I have actors/actresses you know!" (Which is only Camargo, mind you, atleast for me. I checked other actors/actresses works and I dunno any of their shit.) You gonna think now that I'm shitting at this movie from the right of the bat but actually, no, I'll do both, I'll praise and shit on it.
Review: I’ll first start with envoirment, which I like the lighting in this movie, I know many of you who watched it probably said it’s horrible and it sucks but, you see, the lighting tells stuff in this movie (unbelieveable, I know babe.) For example,
the red photographing room is where Jane kisses Ellis, very red and dark, but that gets broken by the Anvil Al/Aunspach, this is very interesting for me because love to gore is funny and acceptable with that lighting. (Many movies do that, I know that.) These scenes have such other messages, such as, like I said, that red, the kiss, the death of her first kiss, getting covered in blood, means Jane’s innocence vanishing. Love is marked with red, but anger and gore is marked by red too, so it makes sense for that scene.
Other scenes such as the pool, the blues and pastel tones are sadness that Jane has, the movie focuses on Jane and her feelings, so these scenes has too much meaning which I like to see in movies.
See?
The school from outside is stoney, light, until the kids decide to enter the school late at night, which in both states it looks very cool, Inside the school the colors and lights turn into creams and yellows, (At daylight, at night it is different colors.)
Like their mascot Anvil Al,
in some scenes it is dark, and those dark places in the school are my favorite, they managed that very good how to make you feel the moment of that space, (Kinda liminal at night which is my favorite, I love liminal spaces, mind you, not Backrooms, just Liminal spaces.) It is, in a way, makes you feel things (I can only understand them to a degree.) I think they worked alot with the envoirment, so good job to them.
Characters? Oh my.. I don’t know where to start-
Okay, let’s start with Jane,
since she is our main character. She is shy, clumsy, silly in times, she is a teenie that hopes that her friendship goes very good but she feels lonely in her friends shadow. The whole movie, we see her be a clumsy shy teen, to a clever girl that doesn’t understand why she puts herself or others into situations that she cannot control, she blames herself for most of the things, and she is hopefull in her own way, and at the end, she becomes tired, done with all that drama and shit that people puts on her constantly. Merritt using and being a total bitch to her towards the end was out of context for me, I mean Jane is only trying to be close to her as much as possible, sees her as a figure she looks up at, and Merritt being Merritt, is a manipulating coward that shits on everything that doesn’t go in the way she wants. Jane killing her in anger then feeling far worse because she loved her, was a peak moment for her.
Part 2.
