This scene really pushed both Masaya and Ichigo to their emotional limits. It's really powerful in how it evokes this deep sense of disquiet and shared sympathy between them.

Masaya's never felt fury like this before in his life, and Ichigo's never just broken down and sobbed in fear and discomfort like this before.

The way Masaya just snaps so immediately that this is what it takes for him to retain awareness in an otherwise subconscious alter-ego. Coming all the way here in a trance and being willing to lose every part of himself to find her. Dazed, unsure and uncaring of who or what he is because what matters is Ichigo, even though lately, he's been scared of losing himself. He's only recently started feeling like there's anything in himself worth losing after he met Ichigo, and now he keeps feeling it slip away as something eats at the edges of his consciousness. But he's willing to throw all of himself away for this. She's far more important.

The way tears roll down Ichigo's eyes as she subconsciously crosses her hands over her body over the tattered remains of her forcefully torn uniform. She's been kidnapped and tied up and forced to watch her friends in danger. She very visibly feels violated and shaken up and terrified like never before...

Their growths have mirrored each other throughout their story as they've naturally driven each other to develop as people in ways they hadn't before. And this was their big emotional nadir where they truly realize how deep the comfort and calm they can only find in each other is.

Right before they're about to lose it all a few chapters later.

What is your favorite ichisaya hug?

They have a lot of hugs, but I've gotta say the one in the rain is my favorite.

They're both silently wishing it'll last forever. This is the moment where they confess. This is the moment where Masaya realizes that these strange feelings must be love. This is the moment where Ichigo knows for sure that this is the one, seeing him sitting in the rain waiting for her hours after the meeting time.

I like both version of it! I like how Ichigo comes out from hiding and covers her ears because she doesn't want to distance herself from him anymore in the manga, and I like how Masaya himself puts the handkerchief on her head with the flimsy excuse of shielding her from the rain so he can actively play dumb about not seeing the cat eats that came out.

There are still a lot of secrets between them right now, but this is the both of them deciding they will do anything they can to stay together, even if it requires all those secrets for now.

Sorry for the long absence! I have been very busy… Anyway, Last night I went with my friends Minto and Zakuro to a disco event dedicated to the theme songs of cartoons (and anime) from my childhood… and it was super fun! ♡ When they put on the theme song of "Tokyo Mew Mew" I screamed/sang danced and jumped like crazy, heheh!
