So, I’m watching the Olympics RD replays and there appears to be a Twizzle monster on the loose.

GP France Ice Dance

FB/C - Blew my socks off. But why? Is it that FB has gotten better or is it that C is just that good. Time will tell, but as of right now; Front runners.

D/S - Ngl, their FD impressed the hell out of me.

L/L - They did well but the ending was awkward.

G/F - They look dated. Their FD had some great energy towards the end of the program. I would rethink the music edits and try to pepper some of that energy throughout the program instead of waiting until the end.

F/G - They are a shoe in.

SHIBS COMEBACK!

Why? In all seriousness, what makes them believe that they will be successful? Here are some thoughts.

1. Have they been quietly politicking behind the scenes?

2. Does this come as a surprise to the general public only; iow- did the skating community know?

3. Have they been secretly practicing?

4. Is this a vanity comeback or do they believe they have something to add to the sport?

5. What if they have been taking notes and inspirations from others and present showstoppers to “Wow” everyone? I could see them doing this…that brings us to …

6. Technical- Remember, these 2 really are old school. Perhaps, the technical is/was a little rusty and just needs(ed) a little WD 40.

7. Prediction - They will do a Gr/Pars Martha Graham program with innovative lifts (they are looking for their Bolero moment ) and a fun uplifting program inspired by L/L, F/G, S/D. If they manage to really sharpen their technical skills…

I adore VM but it always makes me uncomfortable when people hold them up as like the platonic ideal of a Ice Dance Partnership. Especially when it’s really quite obvious that the end of their career was very painful, very messy, and they still barely speak. Gabi has been more honest and forthcoming on how hurtful the end of her partnership was, whereas VM were always more mindful of maintaining a certain public legacy. I would argue both partnerships ended poorly, obviously in different ways.

I feel ick about Laurence and Gui, for lack of a better term. But I admire that Gabi has held on to her principles through all of this. Dignity is something you have the power to give away or not, and from what I can tell, she’s one of the rare people in this sport who hasn’t given hers away.

VM's partnership and relationship were special in many ways, and i think they speak truth about how much they admire and care for each other. but holding VM up as platonic *or* ideal - i don't think it bears scrutiny. upholding their public image at all costs and being secretive and talking in riddles ended up confusing even them. and keeping the skating life and hometown life separate meant that nobody, them included, knew the entire picture, and i think that came back to bite them. i do think their fundamental esteem for each other hasn't changed, and that they're trying, but that things are tentative and fraught because there's still a lot that's unresolved and painful

I don’t mean to offend, but why are we pretending like the anon is saying something true? Legit two weeks ago we had Scott tell us from his mouth the exact opposite to “they still barely speak” and to compare the end of P/C’s partnership to that of V/M is even more insane? P/C made a public written statement, have cut all ties, stopped following each other, and are both skating with other partners. Tessa and Scott shared a video they made together, skated a full tour together post announcement, have never skated with any other partner, and legit have play dates for their kids. To call both “messy” is down right ludicrous.

All of this does not mean they were or are perfect or that they didn’t have issues, they shared what they are comfortable sharing and it makes sense given their personalities and desire to be private after being scrutinized in the past. But the anon here legit made up a full false narrative and marketed it as a reality and I feel we should call him out on that.

maybe a little thinner but that’s not uncommon when he dances every day (during the season/tour), “frail” is def an over-exaggeration imo. Maybe what you see is just the oversized tshirt he had on on thanksgiving idk

It might due to a change in diet as a result of whatever health issues were discovered. He is looking lean and a little less bulked up. Of course, this is just a guess.

Julianne is extremely knowledgeable about ballroom dance and knows how the show works. I have found her increasingly more annoying, particularly when she was sharing too much info about her marriage, so I hope that she reins in her worst instincts. I definitely would have preferred Kym Herjavec or Sharna, but it's definitely better than Tyra that is also annoying but knows nothing about dance

I don't hate her as host. I think she was a great judge. I think she and Alfonso will play well off of each other. But, everyone is allowed their own opinion.

Canada L/L so much fun! First time seeing it this season so the music transition where it slowed down for like 15 seconds then sped right back up again was a little odd. Otherwise, a very engaging program and fast skate. RD 79 so they are in medal contention.

CPom - I would love to see deeper edges from these two. RD 76.

C/B - That was darn good (I need edges) but so dang entertaining and charismatic. RD 87

FB/S - Just wow! The beginning was so smooth. Overall super nice. Needs some extensions. RD 86

Gr/P - I had a feeling but that’s life. They are strong but that fall will cost them. Hey, they all have been there. RD 69

Looks like it might be C/B, FB/S, and L/L in that order for the podium. Well deserved!
