Padparadscha
Padparadscha is a type of sapphire (corundum) which is prized for its unique colour, falling between pinks and oranges with at times having more of a yellow tone. Its colouring is caused by traces of iron and chromium with the iron causing a light yellow colour and the chromium causing red, the mix/combination of colours is what gives Padparadscha its iconic and recognizable colouring. The colour of the gem is also commonly described as “peach”, “salmon” and at times “apricot”. While is it a very desirable and sought after gem, this gem is unfortunately quite difficult to obtain. Padparadscha is the rarest variety of sapphire and is priced extremely high due to its rarity. This gem is predominantly used in jewellery for rings and necklaces. It has a hardness of 9 meaning it’s extremely durable and perfect for daily wear. This gem was first and is primarily found in Sri Lanka and has been for many years but in recent decades has been discovered in Madagascar, and Tanzania with a few being found in Vietnam. The name "Padparadscha" comes from the Sinhalese word for " lotus blossom” or “lotus coloured”. Padparadscha symbolises love, joy, healing and more. It is heavily associated with the heart and sacral “chakras”/energy sources.

Mini note time!
I skipped a week I'm sorryyyyy T-T I was gonna write Monday evening but then got cursed with a seemingly never ending headache on top of a very busy week. By the time the headache finally went it was over halfway through the week! So I decided I'd just wait until the upcoming weekend to write and post. I'm getting this written a day early since I have ANOTHER very busy week ahead where I def wont have the energy to write on any of those evenings. I luckily already had a draft written for this one! It was the first gem I wrote about when I started writing these about 8 months ago. I didn't post it when I started this account because i wanted to polish it up a bit but I ended up forgetting about it... Thank you to the person who suggested this gem! Feel free to comment more suggestions or requests for gems I can write about!
Thanks for reading!
Wow thanks for the ingot man let me just inspect the quality real quick
