sweets for the sweet
Being with Ren always put Aoba at ease.
He felt as if all his troubles could melt away with just the sound of his voice — maybe that was stretching it a little, but there was no denying that Ren had always been there for Aoba. The two of them had known each other for a long time and Aoba placed great value in his relationship with Ren. Oh, but he didn’t want to get sappy here and now! Aoba lightly pat his own cheeks to bring himself back down from the clouds and nodded.
"Right, right. Let’s go together, I’m off work right now so after I can help out at the pet store until closing."
It was a sincere offer though Aoba always did like stopping by to play with the puppies. He seemed to have a fondness for smaller animals, puppies in particular but he never seems to buy any for some reason. When asked about it, Aoba usually mentions that he doesn’t really want one.
"What about you? Do you want anything? — It’ll be my treat this time."
When he saw that Aoba was patting his cheek, he grew a little worried, but he knew that it would most likely be caused by something minor. It was bothersome how he would sometimes struggle with understanding why people did certain actions, but he was a lot better than he had been when he was younger.
A smile spread out on his lips when he heard that his friend was free for the rest of the day. And, he was kind enough to offer help at the pet shop. It was always nice to get that extra support because running such a business was hard to do by himself.
"Thank you, Aoba," he responded in a gentle tone. Ren always found himself feeling grateful when it came to Aoba's kindness. It meant a lot to him, even if it was a normal thing to do between friends.
Sweets, huh? Ren wasn't big on them, sometimes the sugar would get too much for him. And it was the same with sour foods given that there were some lollies which would be coated with them.
Ren shook his head. "I'll have to decline."
