The Twelfth Doctor definitely came a long way. The best Doctor transformation.

From pretending not to care " Yeah she's my carer. She cares so I don't have to!" to dying 4.5 billions for Clara because he loves/cares for her so much and actually saying that he had a duty of care.

The Doctor and Clara don't say I love you. They just die billions of times to make sure that the other will live!

Clara's story came full circle. Starting with the impossible girl mystery that saved the doctor by dying so many times and ending with the Doctor returning the favour for 4,5 billion years!

It's not a ghost story! It's a love story!
