Yes we did rehash our disability stim event for this.
This prompt list is inclusive of ALL disabilities. Including physical, mental, developmental, intellectual, ect. Feel free to do whatever disabilities you want to.
Any edit type is welcome for this event!
You can skip days/prompts if you want to.
This prompt list has no deadline. You can do this 6 months from now or start today. It doesn't matter.
You do not need to be disabled to partake, but please do research before making any edits with disabilities that you aren't familiar with.
Please tag us if you do this! While there's no pressure to complete or do this I would love to promote your works :)
Also small annoucement: Next year I will not be partaking in editfight.
This is not due to drama or anything like that, this year has just made me realise that it is just unfair to involve myself when I can't make gifts back to all the people who make them for me- Especially as my disabilities may be worse next year.
That being said, I will try and do some other edit events, just at my own pace rather than a strict deadline because I just can't edit so much in condensed periods of time.
Thank you @ everyone who attacked and revenged me. I'm sorry that I couldn't edit for everyone, but I really do appreciate all that I've recieved ^-^
Btw I am always open to editing questions, especially about accessibility. I know that I am just one person in the community, and admittedly edits aren't that acessible either, but I do want to help out where I can.
i hope this isnt rude to ask, but do you have any recommendations on dyslexic-friendly fonts? i want my graphics to be readable for everyone
I want to make it clear before starting this that honestly there isn't a one size fits all for something like this. I'm lucky enough to be able to read without color tints and I actually kinda struggle to read the 'universal' dyslexia friendly font- So take what I say with a grain of salt.
That being said: While I don't have a reccomendation for specific fonts, but here are things that help me to be able to read texts in edits:
Avoid cursive fonts
Avoid fonts that make letters "fancy" or bend them out if shape too much
I personally prefer bold fonts- But I know some dyslexic people are the opposite
I would also add an outline so the words stand out and can be read- Especially on backgrounds where the color makes it harder to read.
If you REALLY want your graphics to be dyslexia friendly, and also to be readable to those with visual impairments, I would reccomend writing what the text says in the alt text. You don't have to describe anything else just a simple:
The text on this [edit type] reads: [Whatever it says]
This way more people can read the text you provide! I will also say that this way you could (in theory) use which ever font you want. I know myself I am bad at doing this, but it is appreciated ESPECIALLY on things like communication cards and DNI banners.
Btw if anyone knows any specific dyslexia friendly fonts please send them in!
i'm glad you're taking your time and taking care of your health when it comes with editing btw :) even with fandoms i'm not into i like your edits (which says alot since i'm sadly a very finicky person alas!)
i hope your day has been going well and by the time you see this do remember if you don't have anything to drink to go hydrate. and also maybe stretch.
and lick your crusty lips.
