Me: The best officially licensed Niffler plush is at Books-A-Million. I know this after extensive research and several years of telling myself I don't need to buy one. The Barnes & Noble's Niffler is alarming to behold, and the Hot Topic one is alright but not great. Of course you could spend $$$ and get an adorable handmade art doll of one on Etsy but I finally caved and bought the $20 plush (instead of the large $40 one also available at BAM). He has a working pocket to store his loot in and I think his face can look quite sassy. I'm going to give him a better coin to hold at some point tho.

Bonus geek points if you amuse the retail workers by standing there awkwardly holding one for too long weighing the pros and cons while wearing your HP jewelry and Gryffindor scarf. They all knew I was going to cave.

I don't recommend squatting on the floor to get DSLR shots of him interacting with your other Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts merchandise a week after having surgery, but I had fun with my toy-based photoshoot and pics will eventually be posted, possibly only entertaining to myself. 🤷‍♀️

Here's my interpretation of the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee. Ok real talk time. Say goodbye while you can. On January 10, 2017, the RPBB became the first bee in the continental U.S. to be listed under the Endangered Species Act. Once seen all over much of the U.S. this bee has declined by 87 percent in the last 20 years. The species is likely to be present in only 0.1% of its historical range, balancing on the brink of extinction.

There are many reasons for the decline: habitat loss, intensive farming, disease, pesticide use and climate change. You know, mostly things humans have caused.

The Rusty Patched Bumble Bee is not the only bee currently in danger, and without bees we have a very terrible, possibly brief, future. This spring I’m going to try and follow some of the U.S. Fish And Wildlife Service’s conservation actions in my back yard, and you should too. You can also talk to your politicians about stopping any more of the Trump administration’s attempts to weaken the Endangered Species Act as well as encourage them to fight the administration’s plans for destroying public lands, wildlife habitats and sanctuaries.
