The Muppet Movie (1979) dir. James Frawley
eating disorders and abortions are two things that are like, spoken about in most mainstream discourse as though they are pretty rare and aberrant, but then when you’re actually friends with a lot of women you come to find out that they are extremely extremely common and kind of banal & mundane
idk who needs to hear this but it’s healthier for you to just accept that you’re gonna be kinda fat than it is to live the rest of your life miserably trying to monitor yourself to maintain a skinny weight your body doesn’t want to hold onto
i don't care what those tiktok and instagram influencers tell you, have three meals a day!!! have a snack!! have that sweet treat!! have food that makes you feel good!!! especially if you're a woman!! starving yourself to look "desirable" will only make you desirable to people who want you to stay malnourished forever. it's a cycle of misery!!
happy disability pride month to mean cripples, nasty addicts, people with down syndrome who arent nice and talk constant shit, wheelchair users that WILL run you over, autists that dont care and arent about to pretend to, people who lie to their psychiatrists, people that sit on the floor in public places with no benches, amputees that lie profusely about "what happened"; to the "noncompliant", the "drug seeking", the "mean", the "difficult" and the "undeserving", and so on and so forth, i love us all and we deserve the world actually mwah mwah
as someone with ARFID i really couldn't care less about the distinction between "picky eaters" and "genuine eating issues." if you are an asshole to someone you see as "just picky" i will never, ever trust you. i've lived through the trauma of being shamed and humiliated for my eating needs.
frankly i think a LOT of "picky eaters" have some kind of sensory problems– autistic or allistic– and shame is never useful. i don't fucking care how annoying you think we are. if you've never lived through the humiliation of being the only one not eating at a dinner table, or having to choke down something disgusting you already know you hate because other people insist you don't know your own body, or getting a hunger migraine in a house full of food because none of its edible to you? you don't understand how awful it is to have food issues.
whenever i see people draw this distinction between being "just a picky eater" and "having a real problem" all i think is, who does this serve? most people don't even know ARFID exists. there are so many undiagnosed autistics, or just people with a variety of issues that aren't officially diagnosed. why do we need a medical label in order to be treated with respect and compassion? why did i need to be diagnosed as autistic for my family to realize the abuse they put me through for years because of my eating habits?
it's such an easy habit for neglected groups to fall into– the idea that a medical diagnosis can save us. that by appealing to the medical/psychiatric industry, we can be protected from abuse and given basic respect and resources. but the truth is that it should never have come to this in the first place. dignity doesn't come from an abled doctor telling you that there's a medical reason for your symptoms. it comes from being a person. once you accept that you need a Good Reason to have your needs respected, you doom yourself to neglecting and abusing those who have your same struggles because they aren't lucky enough to access medical recognition.
tl;dr solidarity with all "picky eaters" stop guilting people for having varying food needs, if we make you irrationally angry that's YOUR problem not ours, and abolish "children's menus" & replace them with simple-food / small-portion menus for people of all ages

I love being chronically ill and in a relationship
I’m so turned on I’m gonna throw up
Honestly, being non binary is such a bizarre experience as of late.
When it comes to the whole trans discussion, we are left as a footnote and in some cases dismissed as "not really trans" due to outdated transmedicalism.
A common census is that non binary people generally don't experience dysphoria and just like to switch their pronouns and name. This is wildly untrue and generally isn't the case, though I am not dismissing the experiences of non binary people that don't experience dysphoria.
To use myself as an example, I do experience dysphoria in such a potent way that it's almost unbearable. I am constantly thinking about whether I look like my AGAB, whether I look cis, and I am planning on taking HRT to look as androgynous as I possibly can. Which brings me on to my other point.
There are far too little resources for us in general. Any HRT advice that I can find is lacking, redundant, and usually boils down to "there's no look for non binary" which is about as helpful as a bag of carrots is helpful when you're swimming out to sea. It's all marketed towards binary trans people usually.
Going back to the "not truly trans" thing, we are constantly ignored and sidelined in trans posts that ostensibly are for everyone. There are barely any blogs discussing our experiences. And the little discussion that we do get barely gets any attention. And the common image of us is generally white skinny people AFAB that look androgynous enough. Which is doubly frustrating for anyone that doesn't fit that mould.
We are also undermined as little kids playing with transness whilst the actual trans people have serious conversations about being trans. This view percolates so much of trans discussion that sometimes I don't feel legitimate enough to be trans. It's so fucking frustrating. And it is constant too. No, it's not just a trend that originated from here in 2014, we have existed for far longer than that.
I'm just so fucking tired of this.
Once you start noticing how the incapacity to handle discomfort affects how people live their lives it's actually pretty shocking how it ruins pretty much every conceivable aspect of existence. Interpersonal relationships, romantic and platonic. Career and education opportunities. Your politics Your willingness to go anywhere. The kind of food you eat. The kind of art you expose yourself to and your ability to read it. It's never just one thing, it touches everything, and once you notice it it's like suddenly being able to see germs or something. Just this horrific catastrophe people look at you askance for screaming about. As I grow older and see what became of my friends and peers who could not learn to handle discomfort, the more I'm like. This is a genuine societal issue
"we have to accept the fact that the r word is coming back" NO WE DONTTTT NO WE DONT
I’m so pro abortion I feel insane hearing any other take on it
Even lefties I know will eventually concede to some situation where they think it’s right to force someone to carry a child against their will as if that’s not one of the most inhumane and cruel situations to put someone in regardless of any other factors
Tragic news: switching from the ‘if they wanted to they would’ mentality to the ‘if I want them to, then make it easy for them’ mode of thinking/acting actually works and people do want to care for you.
I know it’s way less fun and melodramatic, than waiting around for someone to see you and read your mind, and it makes it harder to be an emo loner, but it will make things easier for everyone involved. I am actually begging
Once you become a certain age, it is your responsibility to unlearn behaviors that hinder your growth as a person.
Man I cannot stress this enough. The “this is how I am, take it or leave it” attitude is an act of immaturity. We all have toxic traits that we need to work on and as an adult it’s our responsibility to recognize the damage that they can do to the ones we love. We all need to put in more effort in becoming better individuals.
Thank you all, i needed further explanation - And i do find it might help me!
