Consciousness vs The Void State
A lot of us confuse these two all the time.
We think the void is something magical, while consciousness is something personal.
Consciousness is awareness.
It is the capacity to know, to perceive, to experience.
Before the sentence finishes.
Before the label attaches.
The void is what the absence of form feels like to awareness.
It's not always darkness.
Although, some may see it as a dimension you travel to.
The void is what remains when everything conceptual drops.
So what's the difference?
Consciousness is the fact of awareness.
The void is the state where awareness isn't occupied. Meaning? No identity.
That awareness without content feels like nothing.
That "nothing" is what people call the void.
The human mind is addicted to form.
When there's nothing to grasp, the ego panics.
You're just not clinging to form.
And consciousness doesn't disappear in it.
It remains, just without attachment. Attachment to what? An identity, label.
Note: This is just one way to understand it, language around this will always fall short.
The void doesn’t require going anywhere, you’re just shifting what awareness is focused on.
You stop filling awareness with noise.
You don't "become" consciousness.
You stop identifying with what passes through it.
One is the emptiness of the container.
From the void, your options expand.
From consciousness, you simply observe.
From identity, you experience.
Different levels of engagement.
The mistake is thinking one is superior when they're not.
Consciousness is life itself.
The void is the blank canvas where identity eventually returns to paint the next scene.
And you move between them every single day without realizing it.
