Finished watching «Romance is a bonus book» k-drama - original Netflix project.
Have to say it’s been a while since I enjoyed k-drama so much and without skipping parts. Usually I get tired of it by the fourth-fifth episode when the writers begin dragging the plotline.
However. This time the drama is about books. And I love reading, I love everything regarding books and publishing them.
What I love about this drama is overall warmth. I could feel the love for books which emanated from this show. Every episode filled with small but touching stories, tidbits, delving into publishing process.
Also. I like that in this drama there is no such thing as main boss-antagonist-evil person, who our characters have to defeat in the final episode (though I definitely hated the husband).
Every single characters is so well-written and well-played, with their own charisma and story and flaws and charm. Have to say my favorite one was director Go. Truly devoted to her work although some of her opinions seemed cold I, really loved her ways. She is also so adorable and cute at the same time I rooted for her but throughout the story I was so afraid that the writers will cross the line and make her like the main bitch in the office ==
Another point. Main actress. There were lots of comments that she seems old or that her acting is cringy. Really? I know that it has been 9 years for her but personally I loved her acting (… maybe not the kissing part though).
Of course she looked not that good in the first half of drama. So many hardships… But I noticed as the story progressed as the main character went on with her life and developed professionally and as a person (and when she found love) she began like glowing on screen. Of course she needed to look exhausted after all she went through at the beginning of the drama.
Jong Suk. Hope those two years go well for him. Maybe this is the second drama when I truly appreciated his acting and not his face. I actually used to not like him in his first famous works (I can hear your heart if not mistaken).
He just seemed so… Empty. Like beautiful and charismatic but there was no depth. And I especially felt it in W drama. I really couldnt believe him falling for the main heroine there.
But I’m really happy he’s is evolving as an actor.
This time he was so charming and I really loved the way he interpreted his character. Also, his voice is just enchanting. He really seems more mature here.
Anyway. Totally gonna rewatch this.
So now I just need to order all the books mentioned in the drama, I loved the quotes and the design way too much. So. The only question left is. Wheeeeeeeere is the list.
