Fantastic group of dedicated students in a late night PC lab session.
Benny troubleshooting a problem with a team.
Laura reviewing new material with a group. Vanessa is the only student acting as a coach and is doing an excellent job.
Solomon and Agness working together filing folders on their laptops. Solomon and Agness are one of 8 teams of 2 students and 1 coach. Coaches are teachers or students with advanced skills who partner with two novice learners to coach learners on the training material in their local language. We’re so fortunate to have so many excited teachers and coaches to support our PC basics training this week.
All our teachers and students arrived safely to the training center. Vincent, Joseph, Mary and Melchizedek wrapping up orientation learning more about what the week holds.
GCFLearnFree Course Material
We’re lucky enough to be able to use the GCFLearnFree Material in our training next week. See if you’re as good as our teachers and students will be by next week. Give the mouse training activity a go. Can you get the snail to the water on your first try? http://www.gcflearnfree.org/mousetutorial
Meet the Team - Let’s start with Laura!
IESC Role:
Teacher Trainer
Work:
Supply Chain Analyst at Intel Amsterdam. Responsible for WH Capacity management and handling logistics PCSD escalations. Co-responsible for EMEA PLAN/POR. Furthermore fulfilling Business Analysis and/or PM role in divers projects
Interests: Spend time with my Dutch husband, Mexican family and keep in touch with friends all over the world. Travelling and discovering countries and cultures connect with people and help if I can.
Motivation to apply to IESC :
Mainly to give something back of the much I have received, and at the same time it is a great opportunity to get to know a country and culture as well as colleagues unknown to me and work together with the local people towards a shared goal. The fact we will engage in a growth process with the local people, trying to help them to familiarize with modern technology and to find ways to use it to improve their lives, is exciting! Also we will have the opportunity to learn from them and about them, so after two weeks we may feel a little bit less like strangers to each other. I cannot be certain of anything in advance, of course, except for that we will be giving that course and I will try to do my best to help them move forward. So there will be intensive interaction between ‘them’ and ‘us’ and I hope at the end of the project ‘them’ and ‘ us’ may feel a little bit more like ‘we ‘.
What we're doing...
The IESC Tanzania team will provide the first engagement of digital literacy training to vocational and secondary school teachers and student ambassadors. The ultimate goal is to improve work force readiness and youth employability through improved technology skills. Intel is working with World Vision to provide preliminary digital literacy training ahead of Intel Learn deployment. The project is also in coordination with the National Park Authority of Tanzania, Cisco & Microsoft.
Follow our progress as we prepare and once we arrive in Tanzania.
We’re excited to get started!
