What to expect in the coming months
by Iteration: Ozhark 20 March, UFIPA Iteration 6
Since the Governors announced the solstice this morning, some citizens have asked what to expect in the coming warmer (or wetter) months. Meteorologist-Entity Minerva enlightens us.
"For those on Ifortc Tau, you can expect a steady increase of temperature as the season wears on, peaking around July with expected temperatures to reach 40C and above.
"If you're elsewhere, however, weather may take an unpleasant turn, so recharge you hazard protection! Citizens of Texaseyrg will experience an increase of storms on the surface, with roughly 10cm of rainfall per hour. The same can be expected for citizens of Habri Delta.
"Pirates will see relatively usual weather, with the expected fluctuations and frequent pressure changes experienced year-round on contraband hub Miri Omega. Same goes for those living on Selbur XI - very little change is expected, save for a slight temperature decrease and more fog in the mornings."
Minerva does not currently have data for any lesser planets, though the Governors are reported to be working on getting weather stations up and running on key worlds such as Yecoreumata Uitam in the future.
GEK WORLD CHANGED ONCE MORE
Ifortc Tau has been transformed into a lush jungle
by Iteration: Ozhark January 30, UFIPA Iteration 5
After civ-wide reports of drastic environmental changes, First Governor Midas returned to the Gek homeworld to survey the scientific marvel. Iteration: Ke'nuun investigated the situation.
"Dry plains have once more sprouted new life in less than 24 hours. Starting Jan 29th, The once-colourful forests of our capital are now teeming with cool, blue-leafed flora, and buzzing with life - strange, fronded plants have taken root, as well as tight-curled flowers."
One citizen, who prefers to remain anonymous, found the situation far less enchanting.
"Twice it's happened now! My, we should make it another holiday at this rate! Can't have nothing anymore...my crops, all gone; science, my beak! 'Tis witchcraft and no less. This is the Atlas' doing, condemn the accursed thing."
When told of this individual's suggestion, the First Governor - being Korvax - took their suggestion literally. The holiday, spanning a week from January 29th, will be known as Efflorescence, and spent celebrating the new life that sprang forth from this temporal anomaly.
VINTR
Governors announce the beginning of the cold season
by Iteration: Ke'nuun 1 December, UFIPA Iteration 4
Early this morning, First Governor Midas announced the official start of the UFIPA's cold season (or warm, depending where you are), encouraging all citizens to spend some time on the represented planet, Miri Omega. We found out how he decided on the UFIPA's calendar system, and why Miri Omega was chosen to represent Vintr.
"The UFIPA calendar system was derived from the idea of a Traveller's cycle of regeneration. Travellers - such as yourself - have the ability to die and be reborn into a new version of themself, called an 'Iteration'."
"Why did the Governors choose planets? Some ancient civilisations used lifeforms, why didn't you take that route?"
"We used planets to represent the seasons to try and encourage our citizens to explore more of our territories, not just stay within their home system. Combined with recent propaganda campaigns, I'm hoping that we'll be able to re-enforce our belief in exploration and documentation, which seems to be falling out of fashion."
"Why Miri Omega, rather than Ratuscont Oakeo or Minoss?"
"Miri Omega is by far the most naturally desolate of our capital planets; I could have chosen the now destroyed Ratuscont Oakeo, but I wanted newer citizens to remember it in all its former glory, not its current state. Using it to represent the coldest and most unforgiving months seemed disrespectful to what could once easily have been the jewel of our civilisation, our most visually spectacular capital, and to all those who used to reside there - me included.
"While an otherwise perfect candidate, Minoss is for one a moon, and for another far too removed from the citizens' daily lives to be of any real importance to them. I think it's safe to say that many of them are completely unaware of its existence."
FOUNDATION DAY : WHAT'S THE PLAN?
First Governor [//] tells us about their new agenda for the UFIPA's upcoming festival
by Iteration: Ozhark 26 July, UFIPA Iteration 3
Following our last interview with the First Governor, a minor meeting was called in the Capitol between the Head Botanist, Head Xenobiologist, Iteration: Tempest and themself to orchestrate new plans for the UFIPA's first Foundation Day celebration. Iteration Ke'nuun reports their findings.
"It seems that Foundation Day will, indeed, continue, as the First Governor stated in our last interview. I managed to catch a word with Iteration: Tempest, who spoke on the Governor's behalf - though I have a feeling they did not reveal all the details, they did mention how the event will be orchestrated, as you can see in this excerpt from our conversation"--
"Rather than spending the whole day at the Capitol, citizens will warp to an uncharted system and spend the duration of the event there."
"This is highly intriguing, can you say more?"
"Exactly what will occur in this uncharted star system is subject to change, however I can tell you where it is and what is expected to happen. The event will be held in the UFIPA-[XXXXX]-Nitsia-Kar system, and citizens will spend the day discovering and documenting everything there."
--"Foundation Day, now just around the corner, is getting more interesting by the minute."
SCIENCE STRIKES AGAIN!
Flora have once again undergone drastic changes in little time
by Iteration: Ke'nuun 22 July, UFIPA Iteration 3
The native flora of numerous planets, including Synthetic capital Habri Delta and Gek capital Ifortc Tau, have once again changed their physical appearance completely in an incredibly short time period.
Scientists claim that though plantlife on all affected worlds appears completely different, the genetic makeup is similar - it was not another flash extinction, however this time there is no clear evidence indicating the true reason for these changes.
Some speculate another atmospheric change, though there is currently no evidence to support this theory. More eccentric citizens preach 'the end of the universe as we know it', but authorities have waved off these conspiracies with ease.
FOUNDATION DAY CANCELLED
The UFIPA's first annual holiday has been cancelled due to current events
by Iteration: Ozhark 18 July 2024, UFIPA Iteration 3
The UFIPA's first Foundation Day - a would-be annual holiday - has been cancelled in light of recent events. First Governor [//] (nicknamed noomintroll) enlightens us on the situation.
"The disastrous consequences of recent galaxy-wide 'glitches' - which we are referring to as a 'Reset' - have caused much disarray among our citizens, especially those who called former Synthetic capital Ratuscont Oakeo home - so instead of hosting a large-scale event, the day will be spent rebuilding on our new Synthetic capital planet, or should I say, moon, to allow citizens to gather their bearings.
The event has not been 'cancelled', just altered slightly - next year, Foundation Day will be held as planned, alongside a new event to remind us of all that we have lost."
They later elaborated on the 'new event', coining it Rejuvenation Day, which "will be spent remembering all that was lost in the Reset, and celebrating how we rebuilt."
We could not reach Shadow Guard Tempest, Second Governor Tedral (nicknamed DoomCrew), or Third Governor AM-13 for their opinions on the matter.
IFORTC WHAT NOW?
From ATLAS eye to blue dot: residents baffled by 'natural phenomenon'
by Iteration: Ke'nuun 17 July 2024, UFIPA Iteration 3
A drastic change in atmospheric pressure, thought by scientists to be linked to the planet's pre-recorded 'Deadly Pressure Variations', has led to the mass extinction of almost all flora and the rapid re-evolution of new species on Gek capital and governmental hub Ifortc Tau.
Meteorologist-Entity Minerva, an Autophage scientist on-world with us, claims:
"This atmospheric change has caused flora to re-evolve and grow exponentially in just days, with some new plant varieties developing photoreceptive cells completely different to their predecessors - the planet's bioluminescent, seaweed-like scarlet grasses have given way to thin, non-luminescent blue blades, and specimens such as P. Paintkippae (now extinct) have been replaced by towering behemoths genetically similar to the popular recreational drug [REDACTED], colloquially referred to as NipNip or GekNip when processed.
In addition to the rapid and disturbing evolutionary leaps, Ifortc Tau's fluctuating air pressure has been noted to have stabilised and weather conditions altered: the surface now experiences 'light rain', a form of precipitation, something never before recorded on-world.
None of the native fauna, however, seem to have been affected by or even noticed the changes, and appear to be continuing life as normal."
Though Minerva and xer team of scientists have attempted to debunk any rumours, one citizen (who prefers to remain anonymous) states an ominous message:
"It's the...the...the ATLAS, I tell you! It's resetting the universe...just like after Korvax Prime, I tell you...It's going to send the Sentinels to wipe us all out, just you wait...your 'science' and 'technological advancements' can't save you from the Crimson Eye..."
Disturbing superstitions aside, we eagerly await further input from our scientists regarding the situation.
RATUS-GONE OAKEO
Former Synth capital reduced to muddy wasteland
by Iteration: Ke'nuun 17 July 2024, UFIPA Iteration 3
Scientists are baffled by a catastrophic temperature change on former Synthetic capital, Ratuscont Oakeo. We interviewed Head Xenobiologist Aether on-site.
"One of our Governors arrived at the Capital Planet to find its climate completely changed. Ratuscont Oakeo was initially chosen as a Capital for its slightly chilly temperatures– a perfectly comfortable temperature for those with mechanical components.
However, it appears to have undergone some sort of cataclysmic warming event, resulting in the melting of subterranean permafrost and ancient glaciers. This released large amounts of moisture into the soil and atmosphere, along with unleashing pathogens that were once frozen in the ice.
I have personally been hearing reports of similarly scaled events happening across the galaxy. Despite my knowledge of the patterns throughout the universe, I never ever experienced anything quite like this. None of us could’ve predicted this, and I believe the cause may remain lost to us.
Losses aside, I find this quite exciting! I have hope that we’ll be able to find a new Capital, as well as opening the door to new possibilities in exploration and discovery!"
-Head Xenobiologist Aether
Since the interview, all residents of the (now toxic) former paradise world have been ordered by the Governors to evacuate to a nearby moon of planet Hogat 95/I4 (also referred to as Hogat 48/I9), Habri Delta.
This moon is slightly humid, though poses otherwise ideal climate properties for settlers.
