ifuseekamy (b. 1999) is a transdisciplinary artist enchanted by that which lies below; looking to the earth for soily solutions. The foundations of their practice begin with radical empathy, as they are unafraid to question, poke and prod limiting beliefs inherited by various institutional structures.
Enamored with Speculative Feminisms and Queer Theory, amy takes a quasi- anthropological stance to making, drawing connections between interrelated concepts typically revolving around ecologies, science fiction, symbols and interdependence. There are recurrent explorations of agency within amy’s practice alongside a firm rejection of anthropocentrism. Roping in more-than-human subjectivities, amy’s work asks us to constantly reevaluate our perspectives in order to see beyond and outside of ourselves and the rigid structures we inhabit.
Teetering the line between playfulness and seriousness, there’s an inherent fluidity to amy’s practice as their artwork takes many forms such as prose & poetry, moving image, installations, performance and audio. They are willing to use whatever process the work needs, letting it develop and mould itself naturally. Similarly with materials, there’s a temporal nature to amy’s artworks and an emphasis on the ability for work to be constructed, reconstructed, remixed and reused.
Amy recently graduated from UCA Farnham with a First Class (Hons) BA Degree in Digital Art.
