The Prince's First Love Epilogue
Pairing: Prince!Namjoon x Reader
Word Count: 1.1k
Warnings: None at all :))
Genre: fluff so much fluff
Summary: You've been working at the palace for much of your adult life, under specific instructions from The King. That is to stay as far from the prince as you can manage and certainly not to speak to him. Above all, you are never allowed to tell him the truth about how you ended up here. Which is all easy enough until doing one nice thing for his little cousin gets you his attention and suddenly you're doing everything you can to keep the king's skeletons in your closet while Prince Namjoon keeps trying to open it. If you thought keeping the prince in the dark would be simple you're about to find out just how difficult the royals make your life.
***
"You know y/n, you told me once that the young girl I met dancing and singing alone in a meadow no longer exists. That things have changed beyond recognition and I would be best forgetting about her. I knew I loved you all those years ago, and still I love you the same, if not more. I made you queen."
"Your highness, you speak as though you're giving your vows. This is your coronation, not our wedding." You chuckle as Namjoon dances you around the floor.
"I will be making vows to you the rest of my life. You are my queen. My life is yours."
"You flatter me, my king."
"I adore you."
"And I, you. Thank you,"
"What are you thanking me for? If anything I owe you-"
"For protecting me. For being so- determined to chase your own happiness that you were willing to fight for mine."
"I will always protect you, fight for whatever you need me to fight for, you are my queen."
You smile fondly to yourself as you recall his words from the night of his coronation. It was over a year ago now and though it's still early in terms of married life he's done well keeping the promises he made that as you celebrated his becoming king and your becoming queen at his side. You're so wrapped in your thoughts you don't notice the knock at your chamber doors. You do, however, notice the king's arms wrapping around your waist.
"Where has my queen gone off to, hm?" Namjoon asks gently kissing your shoulder.
"Your coronation night." You hum.
"Our coronation night. Do not forget you became queen that night too." He says turning you away from the mirror to look at him.
"Yes yes of course." You smile.
"We're needed in the throne room darling, are you up for it?" Namjoon asks you.
"Namjoon darling, I'm pregnant, not ill. I'm not even far enough along to show, of course I am up to it." You shake your head at his doting.
"Showing or not my love you are carrying our child. We must be careful." Namjoon says.
"Careful, not incapacitated. I can still handle my duties as queen, at least until I am the size of a whale and have to waddle around the palace." You joke.
"I'm sure you will fight to be able to do your duties even then." Namjoon chuckles as he leads you out of your chambers.
"I absolutely will. Though I'm sure you will fight to keep me in bed as much as possible." You smile.
"I will, but until then, we are meeting with the nobles in the throne room and then afterwards we have to discuss the arrangements for the harvest ball."
"You know Namjoon, if you don't want to handle the preparations for the ball, I can handle that. I believe that would typically be my responsibility anyway. The king never planned parties."
"I know my love and I don't doubt your capabilities, in fact, I know if I left it to you alone you'd plan a wonderful affair. I just want as much as possible for every decision we make to be a joint decision. I don't want us to be making independent decisions where we don't have to. We are a team and should treat all things as such." He explains.
"I admire your willingness to involve yourself in everything, just make sure you are not neglecting other responsibilities to help me with things I can handle myself." You tell him with a gentle smile.
"We will have time to handle every responsibility we have. I'm sure of it." He kisses your cheek as you reach the throne room.
"Your Majesties, King Namjoon and Queen Y/n." Jin says as he pushes open the throne room door to announce your presence to the nobles.
"Your Majesties, we must discuss the harvest." Lord Danforth says, standing with the others upon your entry.
"Is there a problem with the harvest Lord Danforth?" Namjoon asks with a slight frown. Namjoon's question launches into a full scale discussion that takes the next couple of hours as you work with the nobles to ensure your people are fed.
"Well that wasn't terribly unbearable." You muse as you and Namjoon head to the kitchen to speak with Yoongi.
"It wasn't. I expected worse." Namjoon chuckles.
"Just wait until we have to discuss treaties. I think of all the meetings I went to with your father it was discussing treaties that always felt like wading through quicksand." You muse.
"We haven't had any treaty meetings yet. Why not?" Namjoon frowns.
"Most of our treaties with neighboring kingdoms last a number of years- it will be quite a while before we have to worry about any of that." You shake your head.
"Oh- we have copies of all of our treaties right?" Namjoon asks.
"Of course. I believe they should all be in the king's study."
"You know I don't work there. I haven't gone through the things in his study yet."
"Namjoon you really should do that soon- a lot of that stuff will be important." You say pushing open the doors to the kitchen.
"Your Majesties. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Yoongi asks greeting you with a formal bow.
"Hi Yoongi!" You smile.
"Hello my queen." Yoongi nods.
"Yoongi we're friends, don't do that." You roll your eyes.
"We've come to discuss the harvest ball, how are your preparations?" Namjoon asks.
"Our preparations are going according to plan here. Why? Do you have any changes to make?" Yoongi asks.
"No changes- we're just checking on the preparations." You shake your head.
"It is our first harvest ball as king and queen and we want everything to be perfect Yoongi." Namjoon says.
"I will ensure that everything is as you requested." Yoongi nods.
"We trust you Yoongi, thank you for the update." You smile at him. Namjoon escorts you out of the kitchen.
"Who do we speak to about the ballroom preparations?" Namjoon asks.
"Well, Kenna I suppose. She took over for me when we married so- she should have updates about the ballroom. Though there's nothing we need to know about that until next week when we start decorating." You say.
"Perhaps you're right. I wonder if we can't sneak away for a moment." Namjoon muses kissing up your arm teasingly.
"Is there any reason for me to deny your request?" You giggle as his kisses reach your neck and cheek.
"No but I can think of several reasons you should accept." Namjoon says connecting his lips to yours even as you both continue laughing lightly in pure amusement.
"Well- in which case the obvious choice is to accept, no?" You quip against his lips.
"The obvious choice indeed." Namjoon scoops you into his arms intent on carrying you to your chambers immediately. You squeal and giggle, placing fleeting kisses wherever your lips find themselves. Namjoon has made an excellent king in his first year, and had you not seen it all yourself you would hardly believe he's managed to be an even better husband. One thing is for certain, you hope you never forget that you were his first love, as he was yours. Though something tells you he won't allow such memory lapse.

The Prince's First Love Pt. 2
Pairing: Prince!Namjoon x Reader

***
The weather today is nice enough that you find yourself in one of the palace courtyards by midafternoon.
"Hello." You hear behind you. You close your eyes for just a moment as your friend and fellow servant Kenna has already stood for greetings.
"Hello your highness." She bows. You don't have to turn around to know who has joined you. With how often he's made himself present lately you've become quite familiar with his voice.
"Hello your highness." You glance over your shoulder and nod slightly before turning your attention back to the needle and thread in your hands. You frown when Namjoon clears his throat and you look back at him. A subtle gesture towards Kenna with his head causes you to sigh a little and wrap up the stitch you're doing.
"Kenna dear, would you mind taking these to Yoongi for me? I believe he's in the kitchen now." You say handing her the now folded garment. Once she's gone you turn back and look at Namjoon expectantly.
"Walk with me?" He smiles at you.
"Do I have a choice your highness?" You ask standing up.
"I've told you before to drop the formalities when we are alone." He says as the two of you cross the courtyard.
"The palace has ears your highness, especially at this time of day." You respond.
"I see." Namjoon hums.
"Your highness, forgive me if this is rude but is there something you've needed from me this afternoon?" You ask him
"Something you said a few weeks ago. It only made sense for you to take over from my mother's lady who my father took council from after her passing."
"As I said then, I was trained by her yes." You shrug.
"I suppose I just wonder- you've garnered my father's trust and yet you can't be much older than me."
"I'll be 26 when the seasons change." You tell him.
"That makes you a year younger than me." Namjoon says.
"Yes I suppose it does."
"How long have you been here? At the palace I mean."
"Almost a decade. I was 17 when I came here, coming up on my 18th birthday."
"And my father trusts you for council."
"I don't know- I think your father more trusts lady Eloise's judgment. His wife trusted her and she trusted me so- it was likely a choice of convenience, rather than having to vet a new person for council."
"Convenience."
"Well yes- by the time I arrived here the Queen was dead, may she rest in peace and lady Eloise had become the king's aid. I learned everything from her and if the king can trust Eloise's judgment that's one less decision he has to make. Again if it bothers you take it up with him. I don't make those choices here, I'm just guessing the most probable reasons."
"I'm not bothered. You're clearly very capable. I just like to understand things." Namjoon says.
"Yes well- if you'll excuse me your highness I do have to run to town before dinner and if I don't leave now I won't have enough time." You say.
"Would you like me to accompany you?" He offers.
"No thank you, I'm going with lady Kenna."
"Right, then I will see you at dinner."
"You will see me serving dinner." You say putting some distance between the two of you.
"Lady y/n!" Namjoon calls after you.
"Yes your highness?" You stop but don't turn to look at him.
"We should take walks more often together." He says. You can hear the smile in his voice.
"If it pleases his highness." You respond.
"It would please me. Greatly- but only if you enjoyed yourself too." He says. You're glad you aren't facing him when you feel a smile make its way onto your face. You shake your head as you walk out of the courtyard to find Kenna.
"I've tried not to ask but I am quite curious y/n." Kenna says while you're walking through the market. You're just about finished here and will be heading back after you find one last thing.
"Curious about what Kenna?" You look at her.
"Well- what did the prince want?"
"The prince? Ah he was just- curious about my duties with the king." You shrug.
"Your duties with the king?" She frowns.
"I suppose he's trying to figure out if that's something he'll be changing once he becomes king one day." You muse as you pick up the last item you're looking for and complete the transaction.
"What? Why would he change that? The king trusts you."
"Well we can't say that for sure- but regardless it seems the prince does not." You say.
"The prince does not know you." Kenna says.
"Yes I noticed Kenna, that's probably why he's curious about the king trusting me and I'm okay with it. The prince does not yet decide my place in the palace. So long as the king is satisfied with my work I'm alright." You smile.
"You're not at all worried about the prince's distrust?"
"The prince's distrust comes from unfamiliarity. If he comes to know me as his father does I'm sure I'll be fine."
"What if he makes you leave?"
"Leave the palace? Well- the king made me come here so that would be an interesting turn of events." You chuckle.
"You're so cavalier about this."
"Kenna relax. The prince is not a threat to my being in the palace. Not until he becomes king and that may be years from now." You tell her. She lets out one last huff of discontent before dropping the subject for the remainder of your walk back to the palace. Some of what you purchased is for yourself, which you drop in your room, before taking the other stuff to Yoongi who asked you to grab some things.
"Yoongz! Brought your stuff." You say handing him a basket.
"You're a lifesaver honestly." Yoongi says placing it down out of the way while he does his part of dinner.
"So I'm told- oh did Kenna bring you the clothes you asked me to fix? I sent her to you but I know she can be a bit distractable. Did you get them?" You ask him.
"She brought them yeah, said you were busy with something and asked her to drop them for you?"
"I actually sent her to you because of prince Namjoon."
"The prince? What has he got to do with this?"
"Kenna and I were in the courtyard and the prince came by. He wanted to talk with me. Alone." You explain.
"This doesn't seem odd to you? The prince paying so much attention to you in the last couple of weeks?" Yoongi frowns.
"I think it's absolute madness but he seems interested in my- position helping the king."
"What? Why?"
"From what I've gathered he doesn't exactly think I deserve it."
"He's suspicious."
"It would appear so." You mutter.
"Do you think he's- growing curious enough to learn of your origins?"
"You and the king are the only ones here who would know anything about my origins. Even if he were curious he wouldn't find anything."
"You don't think the crown prince would be able to find out who you are? Where you came from?"
"He'd have to ask you or his father. The king has no motivation to tell his son the truth of my presence here and he wouldn't know to ask you. I believe my secrets are safe."
"I believe you should just tell the prince the truth."
"I can't. The king- he'd have my head. My family would be in danger. The prince can never know- not from me and not from you either."
"Like you said- he wouldn't know to ask me anything."
"But if he does- you won't say anything?"
"Your secrets will die before they leave my lips." Yoongi nods.
"It's not worth your life. I don't believe he'd do it but if he does threaten your life Yoongi. You are worth more than my secrets. Tell him, but only if your life is in danger, please."
"I can handle myself. You should focus your energy on dispelling the prince's curiosity. Being in favor of the prince can lead to dangerous attention. Especially given the king's forbiddance."
"I know- I'll figure that out. Somehow. A problem for later. It's almost time for dinner, I'm sure you have things to finish." You smile leaving out of the kitchen. Most days the king and prince eat in their chambers unless there are guests in the palace. You need to visit the king before dinner to make sure you're not expected for the rest of the evening so that's you're destination after leaving the kitchen.
"How was your trip to the market?" You gasp slightly when a voice speaks beside you. You hadn't noticed him appear beside you.
"Your highness. Do you enjoy sweeping out of shadows to surprise your servants?" You ask.
"Only to surprise you y/n." Namjoon jokes.
"Of course." You sigh.
"your market trip- was it fruitful?"
"It was yes, I got everything I needed. Thank you for asking."
"Have you had dinner yet?"
"No, I'm on my way to see the king."
"Why?"
"I always see the king before dinner. He insists that I confirm with him that I've completed everything for the day and in case there's anything he needs me to do before I turn in for the evening." You explain.
"After you see my father, please come to my chambers."
"Of course your highness. If you insist." You mutter.
"I would just like you to join me for dinner." He explains.
"Okay, your highness. I will- join you in your chambers for dinner following my meeting with the king." You say.
"Excellent!" Namjoon nods and turns down the hall towards his own chambers. Dinner? He wants to have dinner with you?! This is not a good way to get less attention from the prince. In fact it's quite the opposite of getting less attention. You weren't expecting it to be easy to disinterest the prince, but you're beginning to worry it'll be even harder than you were expecting. You can only hope the king doesn't find out because you know he'd be livid if he did, but you can't very well deny a request from the crown prince either.

You're just finishing up cleaning the table from dinner when you hear soft sobbing followed by quick footsteps coming towards the dining room. You turn towards the direction the sound is coming from in confusion to see a small boy running into the room.
"Woah!" You say stopping him from running right past you, "Prince Elijah. What's wrong? Why are you crying?" You ask frowning at the child.
"I- he- she-" he whimpers unable to form a sentence.
"I'm sorry you're so upset young prince. Would you like to hear a song?" You ask.
"A song?" He looks at you sniffling. You nod.
"My mother used to sing to me when I was sad. It always made me feel better."
"O-okay." He nods.
"Take a moment to think of just Flexibility, love, and trust Take a moment to think of just Flexibility, love, and trust
Here comes a thought that might alarm you What someone said and how it harmed you Something you did that failed to be charming Things that you said are suddenly swarming" you gently wrap your arms around Prince Elijah, allowing him to cry softly into your dress as you stroke his hair softly.
"And, oh, you're losing sight, you're losing touch All these little things seem to matter so much That they confuse you That I might lose you
Take a moment, remind yourself To take a moment and find yourself Take a moment and ask yourself If this is how we fall apart But it's not, but it's not, but it's not, but it's not, but it's not It's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay You've got nothing, got nothing, got nothing, got nothing to fear I'm here, I'm here, I'm here" when you finish the song you tilt his face up towards you and wipe the last of his tears with the pads of your thumbs.
"Do you feel a little better?" You ask him. He nods gently.
"Elijah! Where have you gone! Oh- how did you get here? I'm sorry y/n." Rose, the maid personally assigned to watching after Prince Elijah during his stay here comes rushing into the dining hall.
"Hi Rose." You wave as Prince Elijah continues holding onto your dress.
"Prince Elijah it's time for your bath." Rose sighs. He clutches the fabric of your skirt tighter as she comes over to him.
"Your highness, lady Rose has to get you ready for bed."
"I wanna stay with you." He says with a frown. You crouch down to the prince's height.
"Let's make a deal, you go with lady Rose now, and I will come read you a bedtime story after I finish cleaning up." You say.
"Promise?" He asks with a pout.
"Pinkie swear." You say holding out your pinkie. He locks his tiny one with yours before reluctantly following Rose who mouths a thank you in your direction as she leads him to his room. You smile to yourself as you return to the table to finish collecting the dishes.
"You're really good with him." The sudden voice startles you and your head snaps in the direction of the sound. You let out a gasp when you see it's the crown prince speaking to you and quickly bow.
"Your Highness." You say.
"You may rise." He says to you. You stand from your bow but remain in place, with your head lowered and hands crossed in front of you.
"At ease." He says after a moment. You glance up at him in confusion for just a moment.
"I'm sorry Your Highness, I'm not sure what you mean." You say, looking back at the floor.
"When I say it to the soldiers they stop standing at attention. I was basically, trying to tell you that can go back to what you were doing but- I wasn't sure how to." He says.
"Oh! I'm sorry for misunderstanding My Prince." You say turning to the table and stacking the dishes.
"You're so apprehensive around me." He points out.
"Yes well, if you're anything like your father is-" you let out a soft gasp and cover your mouth with your hand, "forgive me Your Highness, I- I didn't mean- I spoke without thinking." You say bowing again, this time in apology.
"It's okay. I'm not going to execute you. My father can be, a harsh ruler. I hope to not be the same." He smiles gently at you. You avert your gaze and return to the last few stray plates that haven't made it to your mini tower.
"You seem to really like Elijah." He says after a moment.
"Prince Elijah reminds me of my younger brother."
"You have a younger brother?"
"Yes Your Highness. He was roughly Prince Elijah's age when I left home." You answer. "He's probably so big now, I- sometimes I wonder if he even remembers me." You mutter to yourself.
"What was that?"
"Oh, nothing just idle thoughts. I-if you'll excuse me Your Highness. I made a very important promise to a young prince that I intend to keep." You say slipping past him towards the kitchen.
"Wait." The prince calls.
"Yes Your Highness?" You turn towards him with your head bowed.
"What is your name?" He asks.
"I-it's y/n Your Highness."
"Y/n." He says as though he's testing the name on his tongue.
"I-is that all Your Highness?" You ask.
"Ah, right. Yes that's all. You may go." He says.
"Thank you Your Highness." You say before walking as fast as you can without risking the dishes in your hands. You rush through the kitchen doors and place the dishes in the sink before you allow yourself to breathe, taking several deep breaths to calm your nerves.
"What's wrong with you?" Yoongi asks pointing at you with his spatula.
"Yoongi tell me I'm crazy." You offer as a reply.
"Why?" He asks.
"I just had a conversation with the Prince." You say.
"So? Didn't you say you and the prince were friends?" Yoongi shrugs.
"No. I was friends with the King's son. A long long time ago. Long before he was preparing to inherit the crown. Long before I even came here. I doubt he remembers me-"
"Wait a minute you never told him?"
"Of course not. His father made sure I knew exactly what my position was in the palace and it wasn't anywhere near the crown prince. Lest the Prince be with the King when I am with the King."
"You've never thought it was bizarre that the King keeps you so close to him?"
"I always assumed it was to keep close watch on me. Since he knows about my history with his son." You shrug.
"How does that even happen anyway?" Yoongi asks.
"How does what happen? Me meeting the prince or the king finding out?"
"Honestly- both."
"Well- I can't tell you how the king found out- but meeting the prince was a chance encounter." You shrug.
"And he was just oh so interested in a peasant girl?" Yoongi scoffs.
"I think he was simply interested in escaping his life at the palace and the peasant girl who passed her time singing and dancing in the meadows gave him an out. At least for a little while." You say.
"You don't think he'll eventually put the pieces together?"
"I don't think he has enough pieces to figure it out. He never even knew my name when we were kids- and it's been over twelve years since then."
"You think you changed that much? From 14 to 26?"
"I've obviously changed enough."
"I just think you-"
"Look-we can talk about this later but I ran into prince Elijah and I promised to read him a bedtime story after I'd finished clearing the table so I should get going. I don't want him up to stay up too late waiting for me."
"Prince Elijah? Isn't Rose meant to be looking after him?"
"She is! Something upset him and he ran into the dining hall so I sang him a song and he only agreed to go back with her if I'd read him a bedtime story once he'd washed up." You say.
"Cute." Yoongi muses. "Yeah well- I like Elijah. He- reminds me of my younger brother from back home. I mean, my brother is older than Elijah but he was that age when I left home."
"Left home. You make it sound like you're here by choice." Yoongi scoffs.
"Alright, I'm going to find prince Elijah thank you. I'll see you around?"
"Tomorrow. I have some things I need to get to you. If you could fix them."
"Of course. Good night Yoongz." You smile leaving the kitchen. You hum quietly to yourself as you walk through the endless halls of the palace. When you arrive at Elijah's room, Rose has just gotten him into his pajamas.
"Hello lady y/n." Rose says with a smile.
"Hi Rose, hello Prince Elijah." You address them both.
"Hi!" Elijah smiles at you.
"Are you ready for bed young prince?" You ask him. Elijah climbs into bed and under the covers.
"Yep!" He nods at you eagerly.
"In that case- it's time for a story." You say sitting on the edge of his bed beside him.
"I'll return shortly." Rose says with a nod.
"Once upon a time there was a boy who lived in a tower. He had a pet dragon who guarded his tower at night. And during the day he and the dragon would go on magical adventures. They saved animals, fought monsters, found treasure, every day was a new quest."
"Does the dragon have a name?" Elijah asks.
"That's a brilliant question. Would you like to name him?" You ask.
"Can we name him Nightshade?"
"Nightshade? That's a great choice. So one day- the boy and his dragon-"
"Nightshade!"
"Nightshade, were exploring a cave in the mountainside when Nightshade's tail got stuck under a rock!"
"Oh no!" Elijah frowns.
"Oh no is right. And the poor boy was not strong enough to lift the rock by himself. He didn't know what to do. 'I'm sorry Nightshade. I can't help you. I don't know how' the young prince cried to his dragon. Then- as the sun began to set a magical- a magical- oh I've forgotten what creature it was. Would you like to pick one Elijah?"
"A frog!" Elijah says.
"Alright a magical frog hippity hopped his way into the cave. 'What's wrong ribbit. I could hear your sadness from the lake ribbit' the frog asked the prince. The prince told the frog that his dragon Nightshade was stuck and he couldn't help him so the frog said 'wait here I'll be right back ribbit' and hopped out of the cave."
"Is he going to help?!" Elijah asks.
"That's exactly what he's going to do. Just as the last rays of light were disappearing from the cave the frog returned with all his little frog buddies and some fireflies for light. So with their help the young prince was able to push and push and push until Nighshade's tale was free from the large stone. By the light of the fireflies the prince and the dragon were able to leave the cave and fly home to the prince's parents with the magical frog's advice in mind. 'Remember young prince- even the bravest adventurers need help sometimes.' The end." You smile.
"I've never heard that story before." Elijah mumbles sleepily.
"I made it up! It's much more fun to make up stories." You tell him.
"I liked it." He tells you.
"I'm glad. You have a busy day tomorrow Prince Elijah, so it's time to go to sleep." You say tucking him in properly.
"Wait!" He calls before you make it to the door.
"Yes prince?"
"Can you read me a story tomorrow night too?"
"I'll have to ask your uncle the king about that." You tell him.
"I'll ask him!"
"If you'd like but it'll have to wait til morning. Goodnight."
"Goodnight!" Elijah calls as you shut his door behind you.
"Did he go down alright?" Rose asks as she comes down the hall.
"Oh he was ready to fall asleep before I even finished my story." You chuckle.
"That's good! He's been so agitated."
"He was probably exhausted from the trip here- their kingdom is at least a day's journey."
"You're probably right." Rose hums.
"You should get some rest while you can. I know the prince has a full schedule tomorrow." You say.
"You too- the king always keeps you busy." She says. You laugh a little.
"Yes. I'll see you tomorrow." You tell her heading down the hall.
"Y/n." You hear your name as soon as you turn a corner. You stop and turn around to address the voice you already recognized.
"Hello your highness." You bow.
"When it's just the two of us you don't have to be so formal. Where are you coming from?"
"Prince Elijah's room. I promised to tell him a bedtime story remember?"
"Ah- right. Is he feeling better?" Prince Namjoon asks.
"I think so. I'm sure he was just tired from the journey here."
"Maybe. He's only 8 after all."
"Yes." You nod.
"Where are you going now then?"
"The King is expecting me."
"Now?" Namjoon frowns.
"I'm meant to see him after I finish my nightly duties." You nod.
"Well- he's not a patient man so I'll let you go." Namjoon says.
"Thank you, have a good night your highness."
"You as well." Namjoon says. You make your way through the halls until you make it to the king's study.
"Hello your majesty." You say as you enter.
"You're later than usual." He grunts.
"Yes, I apologize for the delay. Prince Elijah asked me to tell him a bedtime story. He was a bit upset earlier. I believe the journey here tired him out." You explain.
"Well- I can't fault you for taking care of our guests. Come." He gestures for you to come over to his desk. "I had to make some changes to the schedule for tomorrow. You'll have it memorized by morning, yes?"
"Of course your majesty I always do." You nod.
"I've marked the things you need to be in attendance for as always. Besides Elijah are things well for my sister's family?"
"So far I've heard no complaints. They went to their quarters immediately after supper."
"And the servants tending to them?"
"Know their schedules and will be updated should things change of course." You nod.
"In that case you're dismissed. I'll see you in the morning."
"Of course your majesty. Good night." You say before leaving the study.
"My father keeps you very close to him." You jump when you hear Namjoon's voice for the third time this evening. You dart quickly away from the king's study doors before you respond.
"Do you intend on sneaking up on me all night?" You ask with a frown.
"No, not at all. I was just curious why my father keeps you so close to him. You're so young and yet you've earned his trust."
"When I arrived here the queen's former lady took me under her wing. I was trained entirely by her so when she left it only made sense for me to take her place."
"It only made sense." Namjoon hums.
"If you disagree you can take it up with your father. Of course when you are king you can decide for yourself who belongs where. If you'll excuse me your highness, tomorrow will be busy and I'd like to turn in for the night." You tell him.
"Good night lady y/n." Namjoon calls as you rush down the hall.
