2020 Chinese New Year: A Celebration in Chinatown (Part 1)
For the nth consecutive year, I attended the Chinese New Year celebration in the oldest Chinatown in the world located in Binondo, Manila. There was a year when there was almost nothing happening because businesses were closed. But if the New Year falls on a day except Sunday, then I’m pretty sure there’s something interesting to shoot. That wasn’t the case for the 2020 Chinese New Year
There’s something about this year’s celebration wherein I wasn’t feeling it as much; probably because of the ban of street vendors or the rain that occured in the morning, or simply because the spread of the Corona Virus. But setting all these factors aside, the whole Chinese New Year wasn’t that festive. It was pretty quiet compared with past years. In order to present something festive in my shoot, I made sure to visit my go-to spot every Chinese New Year. It never failed me...again. A street filled with hardware stores gave life to a dull CNY. These stores always bring out firecrackers to which dragons dance to every year.
I’m quite pleased with the entire set. Hope you like this one. Wait for the 2nd part!
2020 Chinese New Year: A Celebration in Chinatown (Part 2)
The second part of my Chinese New Year celebration in the oldest Chinatown in the world located in Binondo, Manila.
In this set are photos taken along Sabino Padilla St. and Ongpin St. More of my story about this CNY shoot was discussed in my previous post. Hope you enjoy this set as much as the previous one!
