I am the only person you have ever met, or ever will meet, who is officially licensed to kick the Doctor’s arse. I will happily do the same to you, in the event that you do not align yourself with any instructions I have issued, which I personally judge to be in the best interests of your safety and survival.

Hurricane Irma thrashes the Caribbean
Powerful Hurricane Irma cut a swathe of deadly destruction as it roared through the Caribbean, claiming at least nine lives and turning the tropical islands of St Martin and Barbuda into mountains of rubble.
One of the most powerful Atlantic storms on record, the rare Category Five hurricane churned westward off the northern coast of Puerto Rico early Thursday on a potential collision course with south Florida where at-risk areas were evacuated.
St Martin — a pristine resort known for its vibrant nightlife which is divided between France and the Netherlands — suffered the full fury of the storm, with rescuers on the French side saying eight people had died and another 21 were injured. (AFP)

Dear Archy: What do you mean with architectural tradition in Chile? As a chilean i am really intrigued. What do you think about it? What are your favorite chilean buildings? Thanks
Geoglyphs At Tiliviche
Chile has a long history of cultures living within its modern borders. This could be actually a full book (I bet that some exist that could explain this better than me) but in a few bulletpoints, the architectural tradition in Chile includes:
The Incas, Atacama, Mapuche, Kaweshkar and Rapanui left us with reminders, some of them architectural, that long before the Europeans landed in South America a number of cultures have lived and thrived within its borders.
After the Spaniards arrived their form of colonial architecture, in all it forms and variations, became the standard from the 16th to the early 19th century.
After Chile’s independence in the early 19th century, cities like Valparaiso and Santiago, grew with their own architecture born from the many cultural influences and the unique geographical conditions of the country.
Today, the contemporary architecture in Chile stands among the top in the world. Architects like Alejandro Aravena, Smiljan Radic, Mathias Klotz and Cristián Undurraga and others carry on this tradition.
We have posted many times about the art and architecture of Chile, you can see some of these posts here and a previous feature posts with my favorite architecture in Chile here.
Rapa Nui National Park (I understand the implications of including this but it falls within the borders of what is the country of Chile)
