So desensitized to everything these days..
A relationship should not be measured in months or years. It’s the calibre of the memories that matter. Their impact, their permanence, and the degree to which they change you. I’ve had relationships lasting years I can now scarcely recollect, and hours with others that feel like infinities.

Re-evaluating in progress.
I am learning to say Yes, to be daring and spontaneous, to hurl myself into people and places and moments without hesitation or second-guessing myself — to challenge my anxieties, to confront my fears, and trust unwaveringly in chance and fate to lead me to where I am supposed to be.

There may come a time in your life when the universe will ask you to do something fantastically foolish for the person you love. I pray that you rise to this challenge with daring and grace. That you always recognise the wisdom in risking anything and everything for the good of your heart.

The secret is to never lose sight of the simple, everyday miracles in life. Good food, literature, laughter, music, compelling conversation, nature, and art. Look for them in every day, and even when it feels like your whole world is unravelling, you will never be too far from a needle and thread.

Let yourself be inert, wait till the incomprehensible power (. . .) that has broken you restores you a little, I say a little, for henceforth you will always keep something broken about you. Tell yourself this, too, for it is a kind of pleasure to know that you will never love less, that you will never be consoled, that you will constantly remember more and more.

A new acquaintance had asked if I’ve been through a lot and I replied- I wouldn’t say that, why? She said she saw the pain in my eyes when we met and could tell my life was complicated. No one has ever said that of me, in fact, it’s usually the opposite. Maybe it’s bullshit.. Or maybe I need to stop downplaying what a 180 my life has taken over the past year or so. I’ve fucked over those who were close to me and have been fucked over by those even closer. I hate admitting that. But I need to in order to move past it and regain my vision and my clarity. I’ve been so shortsighted as of late but I’m ready to look further into my future and position my present towards it.

We treat desire as a problem to be solved, address what desire is for and focus on that something and how to acquire it rather than on the nature and the sensation of desire, though often it is the distance between us and the object of desire that fills the space in between with the blue of longing. I wonder sometimes whether with a slight adjustment of perspective it could be cherished as a sensation on its own terms, since it is as inherent to the human condition as blue is to distance? If you can look across the distance without wanting to close it up, if you can own your longing in the same way that you own the beauty of that blue that can never be possessed? For something of this longing will, like the blue of distance, only be relocated, not assuaged, by acquisition and arrival, just as the mountains cease to be blue when you arrive among them and the blue instead tints the next beyond. Somewhere in this is the mystery of why tragedies are more beautiful than comedies and why we take a huge pleasure in the sadness of certain songs and stories. Something is always far away.
