Munchies, local guide to Porto!

Well, writing a guide with the best places to eat and drink in Porto is as hard as calculating your department’s yearly budget. There are so many restaurants with such high quality and fair prices that food in Portugal is kind of a religion, to be shared with friends and family.

Bacalhau – Salted Cod-fish, you can find over 100 different recipes in Porto (you will never be bored)

Frango de churrasco – experience the Peri-Peri grilled chicken from its origins in one of Porto many “Churrasqueiras” (restaurants specialized in grilled meats)

Tripas à moda do Porto – The famous tripe, “Porto’s style” is one of the traditional dishes that visitors should try while visiting the city.

Francesinha - in Portuguese means little French and is the craziest version of a Croque-monsieur. Some call it ‘’heart attack on a plate’’, others would have it as their last meal (guilty!) 

Frutos do mar/Peixe - Fresh seafood and fish straight from the Atlantic Ocean. It’s pleasure guaranteed if you are a fan, just avoid the pricy tourist traps. 

Have you heard the expression ‘’life is too short to drink cheap wine’’? In Portugal this expression does not apply, as you can get quality “vinho” for very little money. 

Vinho verde – is a unique white wine characteristic from the north of Portugal, you must try it with seafood, grilled fish or just a sunny afternoon. 

Vinho do Porto – I guess there is no need to translate the sweet stuff Porto is know for. 

We shouldn’t spoil your Porto experience too much so if you want to know a little more about it, don’t miss your flight.

Meet the city of Porto!

Dear Business Schoolers,

The 2018 edition of the IHG Business School has the great pleasure to welcome you to the beautiful city of Porto.

Located in the north of Portugal and mostly known for its world famous Port wine and Douro river, Porto is Portugal's second largest city.

Elected European’s best destination by the world travel awards in 2012, 2014, 2017, Porto is one of the greatest tourist destinations in the country with it’s beautiful architecture and historic centre that has been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site (those colourful tiles are indeed stunning :)). 

As hoteliers we enjoy being well received. In Porto you will be able to experience the local culture, caracterised by it’s citizens (known as “Tripeiros”) reputated for their joy of living and sense for hospitality.

Porto is also known for its excellent gastronomy, that will certainly impress the foodies amongst you, and a wide range of local experiences for the most adventurous.

In the upcoming weeks you will be able to access more articles that will cover the “must do’s” in Porto, as well as, a local guide for F&B.

Hi Elena! That’s all good:) No confirmation is sent out from Survey Monkey but as soon as you hit submit your module choices are recorded.

As we really want to make sure you all choose your modules we will start emailing the ones who have not done so yet - so do not worry we have you covered!
