To close, I thought it would be fitting to show a picture with my family and I together, with focusing in our my inspiration and survivor himself, Nicholas Holderman(In the Red shirt). Today, my family, friends, and even people from around the world know about Nicholas’s story. They know how he overcame the impossible, and what an example he has set for the rest of us surviving in this world. I would like to think that when ever someone is having a rough day, they can always find someone like Nicholas, or anyone for that matter who has shown the way and path to becoming apart of the survivors community. I urge all who see this, to set an example for somebody going through something, or better yet, come to their rescue and help them with what they are going through. Help them become a survivor. Help them become apart of the Survivors community.

As captured by this photo of WW2 propaganda, this sign says “I Want You”. The way we finish this sentences can define who we are. In this case, I want you to be positive, and encourage yourself as well as others around you. I want you to stop the negative thoughts that are feeding into your brain. Where the negativity stops, is where your success will begin. I want you to be never give up on anything you have your mind-set towards, no matter how hard it is or how challenging it might seem. I want you to be apart of the survivors community, and be able to share your story, so that others may be apart of it to.

When having a certain mindset, it is best to be positive. However, it is even more important to allow no negativity to take over our mindsets. When going through a tough time or rough patch in your life, you must do everything you can to keep the negativity out. All these negative thoughts bring you down, physically and mentally. By keeping out all these negative thoughts, you will feel better, think smarter, and be more likely to beat the obstacles you are facing. When keeping out this negativity, you will be welcomed to the survivor community. This is what makes this community special, the family like atmosphere that everybody is apart of.

Being positive won't fix everything in our lives, but it certainly will not hurt anything. In my personal experiences, I am living proof that being positive, for myself anyways, proves to make my life that much happier and better overall. Some people may say that it's just something we think, and it has no control over the events that fall over us. This in fact, is 100% true. Being positive can't result in everything In our lives being perfect, but I know that it will not make things worse. Therefore I challenge all that read this post that the next time something negative or bad rolls your way, try thinking in a positive mindset, and see what effect it has on you. You never know what may lead when your think about something in a positive, and survivor mindset.

A Biography of Michael Jordan as a High School Basketball Player

Michael Jordan's high school basketball career is best known for what didn't happen. In the fall of 1978, Jordan didn't make the varsity team as a sophomore at Laney High School in Wilmington, N.C. He played for the junior varsity instead. After growing six inches, he made the varsity team and starred for two seasons before signing with...

 While some might think of the Survivors community of those that have beat cancer, or maybe some other life threatening disease, we should be not to exclude those people who just are struggling with minor things, and need some help pushing through them. This is the story about guy you may have heard of, he played basketball at a small high school in North Carolina and to make a long story short, was cut from the varsity high school team his sophomore year of high school. What was to come , no one could have predicted. This young man was no other than Micheal Jordan. When coming back stronger than ever his junior year, his stunning work ethic truly payed off. From there, we all know what happen to MJ. The message of this story is that no matter what you're dealing with, no matter how small, we can alway overcome that adversity, and become apart of the survivors community. (Gordon, 2017)

As we all strive for the Goal of helping others become apart of the survivors community, we also need to be focused on how to become part of the community itself. In all of ours lives, we will face many obstacles throughout our time on this earth, and because of that we should be encouraging ourselves all the time that we can get through the tough times that we are in and that we will face in the future. Having the mindset that “We won't quit” and striving to “Continue the fight” is what makes us overcome the challenges we face. This along with encouraging others to do that same, is what the community is all about. This idea is what makes us all the real Survivors.

Not everyone going though a tough time has to be a cancer patient or in a hospital. This can be anyone in any situation that we see in our lives everyday. It could perhaps be someone going through rough day at work or school. Someone that has just had a bad string of luck. Striving to help these people come out of their hard times, and find a way to beat the challenge they are facing in their lives. This is what being apart of the Survivors community is all about. Being there to pick someone up, so that one day someone will be there to help you in your time of need. The Survivors community will always be one team together, that no matter what, we will have each others backs.

While we can seeing positive events in other parts of the nation, we can also see some examples right in our own community. The American Cancer Society has made huge strides in the past few years and expanded to many cities and had such events such as cancer walks all across the country. This includes our town of Lexington,KY. This is a great way for our community to come together and strive to encourage cancer patients to not give up on the fight and themselves. This is a great example of how our local community is helping out the survivors community.

“It’s more than just a wave”...

This still serves as one of my favorite traditions we have in sports today. While Russel Wilson does his part in Seattle, the entire Iowa Hawkeyes fan base certainly is doing their. At every home football game, the packed stadium in Iowa turns and waves to all the well-known fans in the nearby hospital. These fans are part of the children's hospital, and receive this wave every Saturday during the season. This serves as positive motivation for these children, and let them know that there are thousands of people who are pulling for them to beat the obstacle they face. This is truly a great tradition, and a wonderful way to keep adding to the survivors community.(ESPN.com, 2017)

The motivation behind Seahawks’ Russell Wilson visiting Seattle Children’s hospital each week

When quarterback Russell Wilson was asked why he visits Seattle Children’s hospital every Tuesday, he gave a far more real, interesting and extensive answer than he did for anything about Sunday’s big game against the Rams.

Why you might know Russel Wilson as Super bowl champion, and starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, you probably do not recognize him in this article. Wilson is a constant visitor at the Seattle Children's hospital, and without a doubt part of the reason for many survivors that have been once in the hospital. Wilson should serve as a role model for all of us, not only to care about others, but to encourage people when they're going through their toughest times. Whether it be you mom or dad, or even a stranger you met a couple of days ago. I challenge all of you to be their Russel Wilson, be the reason they are apart of the survivors community.(Bell,2018)

Along with the doctors and nurses that were all apart of Nicholas’s survivor journey, we all need to strive to pick up people going through these rough times and help them overcome what they are going through. You never truly know what someone is actually going through. However, we can always help them out and encourage them no matter if we really know how they are feeling or not. There are countless examples of this through our nation and the world, and I ask , “Why not you?”. Toddler is OK after key lodged in his eye — and brain

The CAT scan of little Nicholas Holderman’s head shows the car key he fell on stuck to the hilt in his eye, penetrating his brain. But three months later, the toddler shows no ill effects. “Our prayers were answered,” his mother said.

A blessing it was, and as my mother put it the best, “Our Prayers were answered”. Nicholas fully recovered with no eye or brain damage shortly after the injury took place. To this day, the doctors at the University of Kentucky are puzzled of how this event turned out the way it did. This is a prime example of what a survivor looks like in my life, and this serves as an inspiration to me everyday that we can get through anything that we are faced in life. Yes, we all go through some tough times that we may not enjoy or even think, “I can’t do this anymore”. With the right mindset, we can accomplish anything we set our mind to. This is what makes you apart of the survivor community, Overcoming obstacles that some people thought we could never do. Like my younger brother Nicholas, you might see your obstacle, turn into your blessing or strength. Because of Nick’s accident, we had the opportunity to share with the world what being apart of the survivor community really is, and what it takes to overcome the obstacles we are faced with. Many of you will look at this image and think, “ What in the world am I looking at?”. For that, I can not blame you at all, because if this was not the X-ray of my little brother Nicholas, I would not have an idea either. This tragic accident took place over a decade ago, when Nicholas was only 18 months old. Like any toddler at that age, playing with keys is nothing out of the ordinary. However, falling on one and having it penetrate through your eye and into your brain may not be the thing your concerned about. Unfortunately (So we thought), this happen to my youngest of 2 siblings. While at the time we thought this injury was the worst case scenario, we had no idea what was about to take place in our lives. Sometimes the worst things in our lives can turn into the biggest blessings. Come to find out, my youngest brother is living proof of that exact concept.

Survivors Community

The Survivor community is one of all the survivors in our world today. One of people who are strong and have overcame obstacles that no one thought they could overcome. One that when they are down, they have someone help them up and go back and tackle the barrier that they are faced with. All of us breathing today are part of this community, and it is our job to keep this community intact and to make sure to continue the fight.(Rocketto, 2014)
