what do you call the specific oppression that trans man face that is a combination of transphobia and misogyny?
there are more transfem nintendo characters than transmasc nintendo characters
there are more transfem dc characters than than tranmasc dc characters
"ulquihime isn't abusive because he was just following orders"
Literally incorrect
Even if it is true, following orders to abuse someone is still abusing them
You ALL have to stop using the Nuremberg defense. Seriously.
Ciphlaea is bad. Also people saying that because they call them partners it's canon?
No???? partners can mean many things. Batman and Robin are partners and that's father and son
they got too annoying about it
getting queerbaited by nobamaki is like losing chess to a dog that's not even playing chess. It's asleep
i don't get aira x momo
vamola x momo I understand
but i don't get aira x momo
people be shipping bkdk on merch that obviously supports krbk and izuocha
like they're in different sets...
I think there's a difference between being too shy to speak out and active bullying
apparently i am the one straight yumekai fan
After seeing Captain’s view on Byleth being half Nabatean, I feel like they are saying being mixed raced in general is bad, like there is one side that is “no good” :(
Like. I get it. Cap'n damn sure didn't mean to say that being mixed race is bad and that people should strive to be one pure "right" race. 100% not his intent.
But fuck man. Fuck. When you give a character internal conflict about being mixed race and your positive development for that character is "You're right, it is bad that you're mixed! It would have been better if you were purely this race instead of mixed with another one that takes away your humanity!" there should be like. Blaring horns in your ears screaming at you "THIS DOESN'T LOOK GOOD CHIEF."
Because you have, in the same chapter, a POC man being described as big, scary, angry, and unreasonable as he does harm onto a pure, innocent, small white "tiny girl." You have in the same chapter Byleth say that Ingrid's death is her last tie to humanity being cut, despite Flayn being around and never having been described as a bad person - she's Nabatean, so she couldn't have helped Byleth retain humanity. Throughout the fic, you have Claude be likened to TWS due, in large part, to being an outsider that Edelgard doesn't know where he came from (which if anything should lessen her suspicion of him - since when have TWS placed a spy without replacing someone who didn't already exist? The answer is literally never). You have Shamir all but literally be called "one of the good Dagdans."
So yeah, it gets extremely fuckin' hard to not give this moment a hard side-eye when Cap'n has continuously failed to not fuck up in terms of race. Especially when specifically Nabateans have been pointed out as lacking in humanity throughout the fic in not-so-subtle jabs: "A flower's only beautiful because it can't last forever," "Life having an end is what gives us perspective. It’s what keeps us human," Edelgard calling the Nabateans creatures and beasts and monsters, Byleth bonding with the Nabateans being portrayed in a negative light despite how healthy her dynamic is with them.
Like, look at the line. "I wish you had allowed me to die. I’m not a Nabatean. I’m not a human. I don’t belong anywhere." As if Byleth needs to be one or the other in order to belong. As if being part Nabatean is worse than death. Like, I ain't about to ignore it - I've expressed before that I've experienced racism for being mixed race, and it's exactly because of sentiments like this. Mixed race people don't belong! We're too much like one and not enough like the other! We're others and we won't ever have a place! So excuse me that Cap'n having Byleth experience internalized racism and prop it up as her being right in hating being mixed race has me a bit fucking tilted
i like the farcille posts but why do the characterizations always seem off
I gotta be honest here.
The disregard for what the devs say seems to me like people don't want to hear information that contradicts their conceptions/their take aways from the story. It really doesn't matter that most people don't know about it, it still exists and having insight on what the creators tried to do is still useful on trying to analyze the story, in what they succeeded and failed in.
I agree on principle that a story should be able to stand on its own. The problem here is that the story of Three Houses has been altered . Remember the time, for example, of people believing that the localization team hated Edelgard for how harsh she came across as, only for them to look up the japanese script and discover she was even harsher, meaning the localizers toned her down. Or how the exact opposite happened to Rhea, who was made way harsher than she was on the japanese script, and unlike Rhea the localization team has bees very open on their hate for her. Or how the Church of Seiros DIDN'T say it's OK to kill in the name of the Goddess in the japanese script. Because of changes like this, changes that add on over time, a story "being able to stand on its own" isn't as strong an argument because the story has been, on some level, changed. And this is a problem Fire Emblem has had since AT LEAST Fates. Shadows of Valentia had them too. I don't know about Awakening.
The interview should not be disregarded because it's proof the japanese creators and the localizers were not on the same page on a lot of stuff, a problem that has been going on for a while and only recently people are talking about. It's a wide-spread issue that's not limited to Three Houses or Fire Emblem, but that's outside the scope of this conversation.
