how is it being a nurse?
Nursing is an extremely rewarding career... If your're looking to "do your part", it's a great choice! I absolutely love that I get to help people feel better for a living, sometimes with the simplest gestures. It's also challenging, and I'm constantly learning, which I appreciate a lot. I'm proud to be a nurse. On the other hand, it can be.... extremely... stressful. Between second guessing myself when something goes wrong, getting yelled at and sassed (usually for seemingly unjustifiable reasons) by patients/families/doctors/ancillary staff, feeling overwhelmed by the acuity of my patient assignment, and having to be on 10 all shift because we're short staffed... sometimes the stress level makes me feel like it's not worth it. I've been a nurse for 4 years now, and by the grace of God, those bad days are becoming farther and fewer for me. I just wish I had been even close to prepared to face these problems.
