Are there any cute plant stands you could recommend for a very very small student apartment?

so my number one suggestion is actually not a plant stand, legally speaking, but a clothes rack/coat rack!

MULIG and RIGGA are $10 and $20, respectively, and they don't have much of a footprint at all. they're great for hanging plants in front of a window!

(if i may humbly suggest pairing them with the CHILISTRAN planter....?)

SATSUMAS can also fit pretty flush against a window!

if you have a well-lit corner, the ASKHOLMEN plant stand tucks away pretty well, though it's being discontinued :(

and SKUGGRÖNA is wall-mounted to save floor space!

one last offbeat suggestion would be the VESKEN cart! it's only 7.125" wide and 21.25" long, so you could probably fit quite a few plants on the top shelf without taking up a ton of room

IKEA has more plant stands but these would probably be my top picks for small spaces! i hope this helps and thank you for the ask!

one additional comment: if you go with a coat rack, i recommend putting something under it to catch drips when you water your plants! i use the BAGGMUCK shoe trays!

BEST IKEA SHELVES, part 1 (2/21/26)

i'm trying to mostly recommend products made from good materials, but the BILLY line is a versatile classic....and i do literally have a BILLY in the same room as me right now. too many options and configurations to share them all!

second exception is the KALLAX line. look. is it functionally made of paper and dreams? yes. but there are so many different KALLAX inserts. she's here for a good time, not for a long time

again, lots of configurations on these. i will try to do a separate KALLAX inserts post at some point!

moving on to perhaps more durable options

the HEMNES line offers several solid pine shelving configurations in different colorways!

these specific BAGGEBO shelves are made from metal and are a relatively affordable option! most other BAGGEBO shelves are sadly made of particleboard

what can i say about HYLLIS? it's literally $23, made of galvanized steel, and can be used indoors and outdoors. love her, cherish her

FÄRGSÄTTARE is so green and so thirty dollars. we love a good color

EKENABBEN checks all the materials boxes by being made of solid aspen and steel! imo these are pretty underrated and only cost $50 or $70 (depending on height)

FJÄLLBO is also a wood/metal combo (solid pine and steel). tbh not my cup of tea but maybe nice for people with an industrial thing going on

VITTSJÖ is so classy that i will forgive her particleboard lower shelf. i will admit i was pushed over the edge by the yellow version

BEST IKEA NIGHTSTANDS (2/21/26)

back at it with the solid wood options! HEMNES has some little cuties

TARVA is solid pine and wonderfully customizable at just $80!

STOREMOLLA is pricy ($200) but solid pine with cast iron drawer pulls!

BJÖRKSNÄS is actually made of solid birch, and the drawer pulls are made of real leather!

if you're looking for something more "traditional" in solid wood, BLÄSTÅSEN comes in three colorways and is made of pine with a little birch and beech. it also has a cable management system to avoid clutter

PERJOHAN is legally speaking a stool, but can be used as a nightstand or side table! solid pine :)

NORDKISA is technically bamboo, not wood, but it's natural materials and it comes in two sizes!

if you're looking for something a little cheaper, KNARREVIK is all of $15 and made of steel

GRÅFJÄLLET does technically have some particleboard on top, but is largely made of steel and is noteworthy for being a wall-mounted option

if you're looking for a 100% steel option, these LIXHULT products are technically cabinets, but they are an appropriate height for a nightstand if you wanted to use them that way

and shaking things up a little, TOLKNING is made of handwoven rattan!

BEST IKEA DRESSERS (2/21/2026)

the RAST line is bananas cheap ($60 for a 3 drawer dresser, $130 for a 6 drawer dresser). it's made of solid pine save for the drawer bottoms/backs, and it's unfinished wood, so you have a ton of options for customizing

the TARVA line is also solid pine, but a bit pricier. got leggies though

the STOREMOLLA line is honestly out of budget for me, but if you have deeper pockets and want IKEA products, they're also solid pine with cast iron knobs, and they're reasonably cute! personally i like the brown stain better than the greige version, but follow your heart

one more solid pine option: the HEMNES dressers! available in white stain and black-brown stain. a little cheaper than its STOREMOLLA cousins

while IKEA does have several cute dressers made of particleboard, i don't feel like i can recommend them in good faith ☹️ with the amount of wear and tear experienced by your average dresser, it's worth buying one that won't disintegrate at the first opportunity
