I just came across a draft for a TLC second gen fic I wrote where Kaiders daughter (Peony) and Wolflets son (Ran) fall in love after Ran is forced to be Peony’s personal guard.

Of course, it was called The Princess and the Guard.

Since (according to my headcannon) likes to express his love through giving gifts, I imagine he really likes to give Cinder flowers quite often. Every week or so he asks the florist to make her a small bouquet (small because I don't think Cinder would like him to receive and enormous one). Every week he asks for different flowers. Sometimes it's a variety of pink toned flowers: pink tulips, pink roses, etcetera. in some occasions, it's yellow: he chooses sunflowers, daisies, daffodils, etcetera.

But there's not a single bouquet that doesn't have peonies.

Kai understands grief, Kai understands loss. And he understands how important Peony was and still is to Cinder. And he helps her keep Peony alive by remembering her. Not only by gifting Cinder the flowers her sister was named after, but also by talking about her, looking at old photos, listening to old stories of them.
