DIANHONG RED TEA WILD FOREST

“The right moment to open a precious tea, is to open a precious tea” (Variation from my favorite quote about opening a good bottle of wine)

This “Red Wild Forest tea” by Eastern Leaves is made with the same trees of the pu-erh, the oxidation occurs in baskets and the leaves dry naturally under the sun. This red tea takes several months to reach the perfect point of maturation, developing a wide range of complex aromas maintaining them for long time. We are not talking about “aging” but “maturation” - it’s important to stress this to distinguish this red tea from pu-erh. Usually it is stored and sold in loose leaves, but my special tea friend @jurga_po of Prima Infusione has chosen a special edition ‘mini cake’ - which I thought it was pu-erh! 😅 🍂

White Tea Flow

Days a passing by with easy in a different flow, time seems to be extended, as if extra hours have been added to the day. 🎵🎶 Day after day, week after week, brewing after brewing.

In the live chat with @eastern.leaves last week I’ve discovered that I can make up to 12 infusions (!!!) of this White tea pressed in cakes from Yunnan Provence... well, I definitely need a couple of more hours in a day to go through it! Happy Monday and Stay safe and positive

Tropical Oolong

TROPICAL TASTE OOLONG TEA

Have you ever had a bowl of peeled Lychees in front of you? Well, the scent of that bowl of fresh fruit is hidden inside this cup of Da Wu Ye - a Dangcong oolong tea that - just like the Lychee tree - is native to Guangdong province in China. 

TASTING NOTES: 

The dry leaves smell of peach and tropical fruit. Wet leaves and infusion reveal an unmistakable lychee taste.

The liquor is bright transparent yellow, typical of the low oxidized oolong teas. The long leaves are twisted and can be brewed up to 6 or 7 times before losing their tropical taste.

Tips: keep the temperature of the water low, 85 degrees maximum, start with a short brewing of 1 minute only and increase slowly infusion after infusion. Enjoy this very refreshing Lychee tea - hot or cold - it sound a perfect drink for summer season!

A variety of Earl Grey is something that every tea lover should have at home.

No matter if the tea is based on Assam, Darjeeling or Ceylon leaves, the essential is a touch of bergamot to add a gentle agrumes’ flavor to your tea cup. Perfect as afternoon tea, adapt to every moment of the day.

My favourite is absolutely “Earl Grey French Blue” by Mariage Frerés, with an extra smell gave by the blue flowers. Simply delicous!

Bubble Tea

Bubble Tea, which originates from Taiwan, is becoming very popular in Japan.

It’s iced-milk-tea with balls of tapioca that have to be sucked up through an extra-wise straw.

I must admit that this “chewy tea” is not my cup of tea!

However, as Inrecomend to all tea-obsessed, I think that it was with to give a try, here were I’ve enjoyed it: TEA STAND, nearby Kitasando Station on Meiji-dori, Tokyo.

Some Milk for a Perfect Cuppa?

“When it comes to tea making for others, we often bottle it and are divided by what the ‘perfect cuppa’ looks like," a spokesperson said. “Milk is often at the centre of the debate – how much is required to achieve that perfect caramel shade and how on earth do you distinguish between what a ‘splash’ and a ‘drop’ means.”

The mystery of what a splash of milk really means when making a cup of tea, has been solved by a new poll, which revealed that it is five ml – or four fifths of a teaspoon.  

However, a splash should not be confused with a dash, which is closer to six ml, the survey of 2,000 British adults found.

Janat Tea Room in Tokyo

Here I am again, following my passion for tea and studying the beverage I love the most. The best way to learn? Tasting tasting tasting!

Here my review of the @janat_paris tea I tasted today: Keemun Mai Te #1036 — The description on the menu says “A blend of tea flavored with an exquisite sweetness and flavour like orchids.

It was named after Queen Mai of China - in her time this tea was highly valued.”

And it is so true, the sent of orchid blossoms greets your nose first and then it spreads through your palate. Sophisticate and unique. A must-try, especially in a cozy environment such as Janat Tea Room nearby Omotesando in Tokyo.

Gong Fu Cha is not only a mere ceremony or a Chinese brewing method. To me is escaping the pressures of life for a few moments, questing for that moment of reverie. Lost in my thoughts, I embrace this time of quiet inspiration in which each second is experienced as something memorable.

BONDING OVER TEA

“Don't walk in front of me — I may not follow; don't walk behind — I may not lead; walk beside me and just be my friend.” My most cherished tea time memories all involve the company of friends. A joyful tea time is one that is not rushed, and one where you actually make the time to enjoy the simplicity of the moment, the company and conversation of the people you are with. As you walk into the Four Seasons Hotel in Milan, there is a formidable air of decadence. The deep colours, warm ambience and plush furniture complimented by the tinkling of a piano melody - you just know you are in a sort of Eden. As we were tucked away at a table outdoor by our lovely waiters it was clear that this was going to be a decadent affair. We were kept hydrated and entertained all afternoon long with plenty of tea, talks... and a guest star, too 

What a magic day! Was it real? Are we real? ...Surreal, but (more and more than) nice. Cups of tea shared with a friend is genuine happiness tasted and time heavenly spent!
