[act 1, day 3] long way home [ Arinai + Jaraga] [PC]
Arinai and Jaraga re-awaken on Day 3 to find that Jaraga has somehow miraculously re-grown her hand. Some general confusion and mild personal crises later, they Get Moving.
(This is the in-between from awakening on Day 3 to that one long ass memo)
-- callipygianOgre [CO] began trolling illuminantOverseer [IO] at 18:39 --
CO: Ari.
CO: It's back.
CO: My hand is just... Fucking back. It's just there again.
IO: - ̗̀ Bullshit. ̖́-
IO: - ̗̀ Hands dX nXt just... grXw back. ̖́-
IO: - ̗̀ DX they? ̖́-
CO: Look at me.
CO: I'm waving at you.
CO: With the hand that got fucking bitten off.
-- callipygianOgre [CO] behind her phone screen, she is indeed waving, and trying to smile through an expression that can only be described as "incredibly troubled" --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] ze rolls over, pausing a moment to lift hir head, still looking a bit drowsy... until ze sees it and hir eyes shoot up to hir hairline. What the FUCK --
CO: It works completely. There's no pain. It's like nothing ever happened, save for the nasty fucking scar.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] Just sort of speeds over and grabs her hand, just kind of looking between it and her like ?????
-- callipygianOgre [CO] lets hir --
IO: ...How?
-- callipygianOgre [CO] is now talking trust --
CO: I have no idea. I-... I don't know. I can feel your touch, everything.
-- callipygianOgre [CO] its more of a whisper tho --
CO: You fucking saw it, didn't you? You fucking saw it. It was fucking off, on the ground.
CO: You patched me up and everything.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] spends a moment poking and prodding at her joints in disbelief, eyeing the scar. still ????? --
IO: This... how? It shouldn't....
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] lets go a moment and looks down. Shirt's still missing. Ze wasn't dreaming. --
IO: ... Impossible.
CO: This is fucked up. Whatever the fuck we're here for, it's something big. Holy fuck, it's... It's /my/ hand. It's just as big, it's, it's... It's soft, I use, like, lotions and shit.
CO: It's not impossible, here, fucking... Tug on it. Just tug on it, it won't come back off, because it's attached again. Fully, fucking fully.
-- callipygianOgre [CO] also probably has a bit of ari's overshirt just.. around her wrist and around her elbow still? --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] i hope it isn't stuck jfc some nightmare fuel --
-- callipygianOgre [CO] nAH --
-- callipygianOgre [CO] theres just a mysterious Hole now i'd think and the material is just Gone --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] anyway ze frowns, experimentally pulls at Jaraga's hand. It's there. It's staying. ?????? level increases! --
IO: ...You are... fortunate, my dear.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] a lil quiet, still sounding COMPLETELY bemused by this development --
CO: No... No, I don't fucking think so, because whatever /did/ this, it's gonna want /something/ back. Shit like this doesn't just... Happen.
IO: Well, it took part of my favorite shirt. If that is not enough for it, than whatever force returned your hand owes me a discussion.
CO: I-... I'm sorry, if you want mine it's fine.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] chuckles a bit --
IO: A generous offer, to be certain. But I shall make do.
CO: Sure...
-- callipygianOgre [CO] just kinda . sits back, heaving a shaky sigh --
CO: What the fuck is going on?
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] just. shrugs. --
IO: I wish I knew. This is a phenomena unlike... well, anything, really.
IO: I... suppose we are intended to seek how it does what it does? Such is the way of any world.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] ze feels a sudden sense of regret for not completely paying attention during hir science lessons --
CO: Fuck... I don't want to know, I don't, I don't want to know.
IO: Even if it holds some means to figuring out how to leave this place?
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] pauses a moment --
IO: I am... unsure about you, but I would rather go home.
-- callipygianOgre [CO] the previous question combined with ari's response leaves jaraga absolutely LOST in nervous thought, unable to respond beyond shaking her head dumbly, mouth hanging open, but no sound coming out --
-- callipygianOgre [CO] it's more of an "i can't comprehend what's happening right now" head shake than a "no" one, though --
IO: ...
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] just sort of turns hir attention to looking back over the desert --
-- callipygianOgre [CO] looks in the same direction as hir --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] nothing is there fucking thanks you dramatic assholes --
ACT 1 DAY 2 | “Adventurefightquest: Journey To The Camp” | Jaraga & Arinai
Characters: Jaraga & Arinai.
Summary: (Actual RPing done over the course of a few days!!) Jaraga decides to wander off, not wanting to leave her previous line of exploration unexplored to its fullest. Ari decides to tag along with Jaraga, and they encounter an enemy camp. They manage to clear it, but at what cost? They return, both very injured (Jaraga with a particularly gruesome injury) and they both fall asleep from exhaustion, blood loss, shock, and other things that probably aren’t so good, all the way until waking up on day 3. (This is a continuation of our para thread here! This is gonna get REALLY fucking long.)
Characters: Murien, Jaraga, Arinai, Sean, Seimos, Leah, Tomi, Kishen
Summary: Murien is Peacefully Tending to the poor plants that keep being eaten in the ruins - but is soon gets scared shitless by Jaraga, who is followed by Arinai. Our local Batman (Sean) keeps watch of the situation, and Seimos soon joins the party (to eat flowers.) Everyone starts talking, later Leah and Tomi show up at the scene (also to eat flowers.) Kishen laters turns up too.
Shit happens, Seimos eats a twig, King of the Hill is mentioned, they discuss The Case of the Missing Weed, things [MINOR]s should not be hearing about are brought up. Eventually, people gradually leave, leaving Leah, Tomi, Seimos and Kishen again. More shit happens because Something led to Kishen axing Tomi’s arm (with consent. Consent is important.)
Jaraga knew she only really did a single quick survey at best, both times she woke up, as to assessing the identities of those around her. She knew damn well that it was foolish to try to make a judgment with such little information, but she couldn’t help it. She could say it was in her blood, and she wouldn’t be lying, but it would sting a bit to admit that she sometimes did, in fact, surrender to the pulling of her blood.
One thing was for sure, though, and it was that the blood was pulled straight from her head once she noticed that the one person who had followed her was the single fucking seadweller here. What did she do to deserve this? What did she do? Sure, she singlehadedly slaughtered, shit, probably somewhere in the hundreds, lowbloods and highbloods alike (surprisingly, not too many midbloods, which was weird, but she really only typically killed other indigobloods so she supposed she shouldn’t categorize them as being representative of all highbloods but for the sake of inclusion she decided it right to divide her victims into two neat groups that were more or less at opposite ends of the spectrum, given of course the spectrum not include seadwellers because that would result in what she considers highbloods to be both not at the end and also would force her to concede her title and revise her statement to be “high-high-middishbloods” which carried no force whatsoever relative to the easy-to-use term “highbloods” so ultimately she decided to end the long-winded internal monologue about terminology to get on with the rest of her thoughts, resting assured that she was doing the right thing,) but she was a good person!
Anyway, she thought this was some bullshit. Out of literally everyone, the only person she felt intimidated by… Well, aside from the hornless freaks who, hell, might be able to kill her in an instant? And everyone else? She didn’t know what they were about. Trust no one, not even yourself.
And she supposed it was right not to trust herself.
“Прямо в ад, наверное.” (Straight to hell, probably.)
Shit. Recover. Recover, or you’re going to fucking die and actually go straight to hell, probably.
“Uhh. Sorry. Nah, I, uh, okay, so yesterday I went on a little exploring trip with a lowblood and we found this huge hole in the ground but didn’t manage to get much past it so basically I want to check out what’s beyond the h- what’s past the hole.”
A nod. Better. Words that ze could understand.
“Yeah, uh, so… I dunno if you have anything, like, better to do? But that’s where I’m headed, so.”
She cleared her throat.
“…Never… Bad… To go alone?”
She attempted a good-natured smile but it was more of a constipated grimace.
“Eh? …Ehh?”
Alas, she had no affiliation to Canada, and was mostly only making matters worse. She wanted to stop herself, to cut off any drunk-Canadian-Fonz-like activity off at the head, but she felt in this instant as if her body was on autopilot, the GPS locked squarely onto supreme embarrassment, the kind on par with shitting your pants during a yoga class or actually enjoying baseball.
Just breathe.
She began to breathe through clenched teeth, much louder than she was anticipating.
Arinai retained a polite smile as the other blundered on, speaking first in what ze only assumed to be the language she had yelled in before quickly switching to a meager attempt at an explanation. Why were indigos always so cagey? Was it bred into them, to prevent them from spilling imperial information given in confidence should they be captured? Was it left over from a war written in blood and stowed on a page perhaps now far beyond hir reach?
... Now that ze was thinking about it, was hir study intact right now? Hir historical records that had taken weeks of tracking on the black market? Quietly, ze had let hir hands find their way into fists at the very thought. If whatever entity that had spirited hir here had damaged the library, there would be hell to pay. One did not spend sweeps searching and collecting just for--
Just for--
“Eh? …Ehh?”
...Oh, right. Ze was in the middle of a conversation. Sort of. This qualified, right? The indigo was smiling, albeit looking a little desperate now; the sounds suggested she had... told a joke, maybe. Pushing hirself to recall the way hir neighbor had screeched when ze had motivated the rumour that he was having an incredibly sordid affair with an anime body pillow, a soft, genuine sounding chuckle escaped hir.
“I see... Then perhaps you will not mind if I accompany you, yes? There is certainly safety in numbers, especially with those... creatures roaming about.”
Er. Hopefully that was the... correct reaction. Otherwise, this would likely be very awkward.
ACT 1 DAY 2 | “its time for me to live up to my family name and face full life consequences” | Jaraga | attn: open!!
Jaraga knew she was one to sleep in, sleep late, sleep heavy and just generally sleep whenever given the opportunity, but she didn’t quite remember when she fell asleep this time. All she knew was when she was waking up (because apparently she had fallen asleep in the first place, a fact she still was not over,) she heard yelling. Struggling. Squawking?
And she woke up to two trolls fighting. Oh. No place like home.
She roused herself slowly, not paying much attention to the conflict between the two trolls, being apparently handled by the hornless freak who spoke in a silly accent. People didn't actually speak like that… Right?
Well, she supposed she spoke Russian, so things could be weirder.
…Actually. She decided that shouting at them, too, could work. She put on her best angry highblood face and began shouting, too.
“Как о вас проявить уважение к людям вокруг вас, прежде чем уйти, чтобы принять дерьмо вниз горло друг друга? Просто поцелуй уже идиоты! Оставьте нас уважительные, скромный граждан из ваших запутанных спаривания танцев!”
And she stormed off immediately after, taking the stairs down and taking a few steps before pausing, realizing, turning around and yelling,
“If anyone wants to come with me, I know exactly where I want to go, and I won’t scream at you in Russian.”
That was a satisfactory invitation, she thought. She ignored how hungry she was feeling. She could wait. Probably. Could she, even? Eh, probably.
Not that Arinai couldn’t have claimed to be entirely awake enough to function, although lazily flicking hir gaze around what ze could see of hir surroundings had proven that ze -- well, the lot of them now -- were back where they started. It meant having to find the trebuchet again in the wastes, but at least ze had retained hir memories this time. Small victories, ze supposed.
Not that having to listen to all this screaming was much of a victory.
“Mmnn... So noisy...”
Clicking hir tongue, Arinai lifted hirself from the ground and stretched, grimacing a bit at the ache in hir back that came with sleeping on the ground. Cold, hungry, sleeping on cold floors whilst surrounded by idiots... Was this what it was to be poor? How dreadful! It was no wonder lowbloods so oft turned to a life of crime.
That settled it. Once ze was returned to hir proper place, all those sweet little mudbloods would be receiving some proper bedding from their favorite anonymous benefactor. Perhaps if they rested in peace, they would start rest in pieces less often. For now...
Arinai faced down the bird, the deer, and the ass-munchee with a hand on hir hips.
“Sweet things, I do not know or care to know what this affair is about, but if you intend to slaughter each other, go outside.”
Never mind they technically already were outside; what, with those hazy clouds hanging above them all. Details.
“This is the second time we’ve awoken here. I believe I speak for everyone in saying no one wants to come to consciousness elbow-deep in whosoever fluids you are about to begin spilling.”
The second screamer had descended the stairs, and as much as Arinai might have fancied sticking around to watch how all of this was going to go down, hir hunger was a bit more pressing. Perhaps a bit of light exercise would lead to something more edible than dirt and flowerbeds. Fixing hir bun, ze trotted along after Jaraga without further comment, tiny talons clicking against the stone stairs as ze descended.
“..And where might you have had in mind, then? Somewhere interesting, I hope?”
act 1, day 1 | prejudices are the real robbers | murien + arinai
summary: a chance encounter between two trolls who seem opposites! one is highblooded, one is lowblooded. one is large, one is small! one is friendly, and one seems to be full of salt. the two chat, and murien tells quite a few ironic lies, which arinai seems to humor!
Title: “Darkling Battykins”
Characters: Sean Jordan (esotericVigilante [EV]), Arinai Liodus (illuminantOverseer [IO])
Summary: Sean is approached by Ari. After some teasing on hir part, Sean attempts to prove ze is a seadweller and not a cosplayer by… touching and pulling at hir gills. Bat Bad move. Despite this, they end up exchanging contact information and chatting some about their situation. Sean tells Ari that ze can call upon him at any time… And soon enough, Ari leaves to go explore. Sean stays to talk with the others.
Sean is now open for another interaction! He is planning on staying the roof until he talks to everyone who does not already leave… And then exploring for himself.
Pesterlog under the cut. Triggers for: Potential accidental misgendering because I got my syntax confused and used Sean’s pronouns for Ari -_-. I think I fixed it but I’m not sure so be warned!
[Act 1, Day 1] for all that is holey [Arinai + Evie] [PC]
A pair of politicians engage in some banter about leadership, and then go to proceed to rescue Evie’s umbrella from an imp that had taken up residence in a hole near the southern ruins.
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] returns to her starting point after a very unsuccessful foray out into the wasteland. Walls couldn't be climbed, gross monsters stole her only weapon - it hasn't been a good start to the day so far. Not to mention, still no explanation on their sudden placement here! --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] is reminded of another interesting question once back at the hub and laying eyes on another (seemingly non threatening) creature. These horned trolls - what were they doing here too? --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] puts on her game face - a BIG, FRIENDLY SMILE! - and approaches this well decorated grey person. --
PM: Uhhmmm....!!!
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] had spent the bulk of hir waking hours examining their starting point, hoping to find some idea as to how they'd gotten there. The search had ultimately proven fruitless. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] But it was not all in vain. The silence that came with the bulk of the crowd meandering off on their own was pleasant enough, and gave hir time to think. Not that ze could scrape up anything beyond the fact that this place had seemed vaguely familiar in some way, but ze hadn't allowed it to trouble hir overmuch. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] At least, not until another approached, their species still somewhat forigen. Ze had heard the term 'human' tossed around, although that hardly answered anything. So, instead, ze returned the grin with a toothy one of hir own. --
IO: Ah, welcome back, my dear!
IO: I hope your travels went fruitfully.
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] has to resist the urge to curtsey. Something about the way the other spoke and hir abundance of gold placed that thought in Evie's mind, but really, that would objectively be a weird thing to do. But at least ze seems friendly! Despite... All hir teeth. --
PM: Ahah... Well, uhm, not as much as I'd have hoped.
PM: I mean, uhmmm, I was looking for answers, but...
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] laughs gently, waving her hands around non comitally in the air. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] A soft hum escapes hir throat as ze considers both the one before hir and her words. A lovely shade of green. Someone of the middle class, perhaps? It is good to see that there were beings with work ethic present here. --
IO: But you found very little, I take it.
IO: I fear my own search has been much the same.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] A sheepish chuckle. --
IO: Granted, I have not ventured beyond this post, so I cannot say what lies out there.
IO: Is our situation dire?
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] smiles gently, shaking her head. --
PM: I don't think it's dire!
PM: ...Although, uhmmm, now that I think about it I didn't see any food out there...
PM: But we're not in any direct danger, I think! Just, nothing makes sense!
IO: You could certainly say that again. How did we get here? What manner of creature could put ~all~ of us on the floor in such a manner?
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] sighs. --
IO: There are too many questions... and no food, you said?
PM: Uhmm, well, I didn't look aaaaaall over... But not anything super apparent?
IO: Hm.
PM: I think we're all going to have to put our heads together for this one!
IO: That... would likely be within our wisdom to remedy posthaste, yes.
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] clasps her hands together with a poised, bright smile. --
IO: I do not know how many are present, but it certainly appeared to be more than just ourselves.
IO: Remaining here and allowing tempers to flare over hungry bellies would be less than ideal.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] taps a finger against hir chin. --
IO: Any ideas, bold adventurer? You appear the crafty sort.
PM: Awww, I wouldn't say that about lil' old me!
PM: Buuuut... I think it would be good to try and sort out little scouting teams!
PM: Uhmmm, make sure we cover as much ground as efficiently as possible... And keep an eye on everybody.
PM: ...You never know who might be trouble, after all.
IO: Would you not? You do seem to displaying your intellect quite nicely.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] seems pleased. --
IO: You likely do have a point, however. I had been thinking it might be wise to fortify this area in the case there is something out there...
IO: But if the vipers instead lie among us, it would be for naught.
PM: Fortification miiiiight be a good idea, but I think only temporarily? I mean, uhm. We can't stay here too long.
PM: But that's just my opinion!
IO: Ah? What makes you say that?
PM: Well. There's nothing to do.
PM: At least, I don't want to spend time here juuuuust waiting?
IO: Mmmn... That is fair.
IO: But we would first have to decipher the means through which we'd be able to depart, yes?
IO: That may take time.
IO: But I suppose if we are not actively in danger, attention may be placed to such first and foremost.
PM: That's a really smart way of looking at it!
PM: Oh, but I suppose it depends a lot on what other people would feel safest doing?
IO: Ah, but what if there is dissent?
IO: Your race may perhaps percieve differently than my own, my sweet.
IO: To come to an unanimous conclusion may prove... difficult.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] attempts to remember what ze saw upon awakening. There was very distinctly a few lowbloods and an indigoblood, alongside a collection of creatures of this one's race... but how did their heiarchy work? --
IO: I believe we may benefit from uniting under one figure.
IO: ..Preferrably not myself.
PM: Aww, I'd have thought you'd make a good leader!
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] smiles a bit, as though amused by some private joke. --
IO: Ah, it is not to be, I fear.
PM: I mean, you're just very noticeable. And seem very put together? But...
PM: Ahah, I suppose I could lead the charge until we find someone with proper leadership abilities.
IO: Ah, truly? You would take such a heavy burden?
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] appears to be in awe, although is lowkey amused by...something. --
IO: That would certainly be a feat indeed.
PM: We'll see. Generally, a leader naturally emerges, no?
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] smiles, seemingly ignorant of whatever's tickling the troll's funny bone. --
IO: That is correct. Oft through bloodshed, which we do not quite need at present, I would presume.
IO: Our numbers seem quite few.
PM: I'm sure we can avoid that! Especially if you would like to.
IO: Hmhm! I suppose. But it is you who claimed to step up, yes?
IO: Would you seek your position through violence, if need be?
PM: Of course not.
PM: I only want to make sure we're all moving in the best direction, I'm not here to fight!
PM: You don't seriously think I even could if I wanted to, do you?
PM: I've... Already lost my only weapon, ahah. You could take me out of the picture right now in a second, if you wanted!
IO: Ah, love, I could take a great number of those present 'out of the picture' if I so chose.
IO: But that would not a leader make.
PM: It could a leader leave.
IO: But is a leader with no followers a true leader?
IO: That is but a mutiny in the making.
IO: Besides, to act by force would be taking away from the important goal here.
PM: Which is why I'm not interested in that method!
IO: Mmn.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] pauses for a moment. --
IO: ...You said that you lost your weapon, my dear.
IO: Is that correct?
PM: Hah ha, super embarrassingly true.
PM: I know where it is! It's just... Out of my reach by now.
PM: ...I don't suppose you have a spare anything on you? Hah ha.
IO: Ah... I do posess something, but it may perhaps be easier to simply reclaim yours.
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] lights up immediately at that, stepping closer. --
PM: Are you, maaaaybe, offering to help me out?
IO: Mmmn.... I could perhaps be persuaded...
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] winks --
IO: But that would be a favour, yes?
PM: ...Within reason, but yes.
PM: You could consider it a promise from me.
IO: Aah... tempting, indeed.
IO: Name your terms, my dear. I would not wish to be so uncouth as to overstep my bounds should I make use of your good graces in the future.
PM: Just nothing that would take more than forty minutes to complete. Is it a deal?
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] smiles. Thankfully it's not the creepy supernaturally fanged one, and looks almost pleasant. --
IO: A deal, then.
IO: Shall we be off, then? It is likely unwise to leave your weapon unclaimed for longer than necessary.
PM: Thank you! You're so sweet, uhm...
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] sets off to start walking but pauses. --
PM: I don't think I got your name.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] sets off with, although when she pauses, ze looks a little surprised. --
IO: Ah! Forgive me, where are my manners?
IO: I am Arinai. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintence, my dear.
IO: Might I know the address of the lovely individual I will be travelling with?
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] ze probably bobbed her head in a lazy, makeshift bow somewhere in here but I forgot to add it in --
PM: Oh! Of course! My name is Evie Booker. So glad to make your acquaintance!
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] smiles, dipping down in a mock curtsey. The urge could not be supressed. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] a small giggle escapes hir, and ze covers hir mouth. --
IO: Ah... but before I forget... What manner of pronouns do you utilize? Does your species have such forms of address?
IO: Our languages are similar, at the very least.
PM: Yes- That is remarkably convenient!
PM: Especially for it to be Earth's considered international language to match up with yours... Oh, but-
PM: She and her. And miss! You?
IO: That is a peculiar coincidence... but ah. I myself would prefer the utilization of ze and hir.
IO: They is acceptable as well, if used sparingly, please!
PM: Of course! Uhm, thank you for letting me know.
IO: You are quite welcome, Miss Booker.
IO: But with formalities out of the way... let us continue, then! If nothing skulks in the current hour, there are doubtlessly creatures that will arrive later.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] starts strolling off again, attempting to keep a slower pace for the people with shorter legs. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] you don't have any idea where you're going Ari why are you trying to be Ahead here --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] scurries after Arinai, immediately correcting hir direction to guide them through the wasteland, to the wall instead. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] ze pretends that ze Knew The Direction All Along. poorly. but eventually they Arrive --
PM: Look!
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] points aggressively at the accursed hole, wherein hides the HOLE MONSTER that stole her umbrella. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] ze raises an eyebrow, as the umbrella is presumably open to prevent Robbery and thus covering the hole. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] making an honest effort to be polite and respectful of this idea, but you can feel the ~come ON~ burried under it. --
PM: I told you. I'm not one for violence.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] a small chuckle escapes hir. --
IO: So I see.
IO: Is it caught on something?
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] goes to approach the hole and trips, although covers it up like ze was Intending to Bend Over. Nice --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] clears her throat, pretending like she didn't just see that goofy heck up take place. --
PM: No, there's... Something doesn't want to give it back.
IO: Mmn... And it has remained?
PM: I... Assumed.
PM: Perhaps you could give it a pull?
IO: Well, since I am down here, I believe I have an easier way.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] closes eyes for a long moment, the numerous smaller spots upon hir skin... starting to glow a soft purple. When ze opens hir eyes again, they have taken on a similar glow. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] gingerly pushes the umbrella aside and looks in the hole. --
PM: What iiiis going on here?
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] looks at hir very, very cautiously, making sure to steer far clear of them for the moment. --
IO: Mn? What do you mean?
PM: What are you... doing?
PM: With your, uhm.
PM: Lights!
IO: I am trying to see if anything is here, of course.
IO: What would you anticipate I be doing?
PM: No, I mean... How are you doing that?
IO: Ah! Bioluminesence. It is like... blinking, I suppose.
IO: If I think about it, then I... have the capacity to glow, I suppose.
PM: Hm! That is incredibly unusual. Like wiggling your ears?
IO: Yes! I can do that too.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] does so. Except it's more a fin wiggle. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] ze reaches in and prods it. It snarls. --
IO: It does seem quite enamoured with your umbrella.
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] gets down on her hands and knees behind Arinai, so she can peek into the hole too. --
PM: Ugh! That's the thing! It's so gross looking...!!! >:P
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] sticks out her tongue at it. What a nasty little monster. --
PM: I didn't have enough strength to tear it straight out...
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] the imp hisses at her and mimics her. Arinai snickers a bit. --
IO: Perhaps that is for the best. If you had engaged it within a tug of war, it likely would have broken your umbrella.
PM: Well, either way, I don't have my umbrella now. Broken or not.
IO: You have me there.
IO: Hold onto it, please. I'll have it freed in a moment.
PM: Of course!
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] grasps her umbrella firmly, prepared to yank it back out at a moments notice. At this point it's just a personal vendetta against the imp. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] prods at the imp again, before drawing back hir arm. Evie hears a small 'snk' type noise as ze plunges hir hand into the hole. A loud squeal emerges from the hole and the resistance is immediately lifted. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] the creature snarls before apparently retreating, leaving something glittering in the hole in its wake that can't quite be identified within the light Ari is emitting. --
IO: Ze draws hir hand back, shaking it a few times as a small knife receeds back into hir hand wraps.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] oops that was supposed to be under the /me --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] stumbles back with a victorious laugh, holding her umbrella up high! Just a bit worst for the wear, considering the slobber and bite marks, but hers again. --
PM: Ahah! Aah, together we conquered over that little menace, Arinai!
PM: Of course, it's all mostly thanks to you!
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] folds the umbrella back in on itself and gives it a confident twirl before putting it back in the hammerspace that is the strife specibus. --
PM: ...But, dear, what did you do exactly? I could have sworn I saw something in your hand, there?
IO: Ah, it is but my strife weapon. Do not concern yourself.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] a smile, although ze reaches back into the hole again, apparently after whatever was glittering in there previously. Scores some grist. --
PM: I suppose it's none of my concern. Until you want to pick a fight with me.
IO: Mmn.. and I doubt that will happen any time soon.
IO: Would you like to place your hand within this small, dark hole for a moment?
PM: ...
PM: If I had a penny.
IO: Now that the imp is gone, there is something here I cannot quite reach.
IO: Perhaps it may be beneficial.
PM: I doubt my reach is much longer than yours, but, uhm... I'll try, of course!
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] ze scoots aside. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] looks expectant, if mildly curious. --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] gets back down on the ground, gingerly sticking her hand inside to grope after the source of the glittering light she previously noticed. --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] scores a solid amount of grist, and pulls it out with a delight! And also, mild confusion over it's purpose. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] smiles, although somewhat quizzically. --
IO: Now, I wonder why you were able to grasp it, but not I?
IO: Most curious...
PM: Awww, are you sure you weren't just being nice to me?
IO: Hmmhm! Perhaps.
IO: A mystery for the ages, I am sure.
IO: Which would you believe it to be?
PM: Maybe I should let it stay a mystery.
PM: After all.
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] gets up, brushing her clothes off with a knowing smirk. --
PM: I don't want to be in your debt even further.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] a small snort escapes hir. --
IO: Ah? Is it so terrible to be in my debt?
IO: I suppose I could think of a few creative uses for 40 minutes, if pressed...
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] shrugs. --
IO: But that is a concern for another day, I am sure.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] pushes hirself back to hir full height, stretching. --
PM: Hah ha! You're somebody to keep an eye on.
PM: Hmmm... I trust you not to put me in any danger, though.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] places a hand to hir own chest, feigning hurt. --
IO: Who, moi? I am as innocent as the new rain. I swear it to you, my sweet!
IO: But I do appreciate your small measure of faith. I shall be careful not to waste it.
IO: I suppose now that you are armed, however, I may return to my own investigations. I trust you will remain safe, yes?
PM: Of course!
PM: Oh, but, uhm.......
PM: Maybe... You should give me your contact information.
IO: Ah! A novel idea. Shall we exchange phones for a moment?
PM: In case I get into heaps of trouble again...?
PM: Yes!
IO: Ah-hah. I fear I cannot quite come running to your rescue every time, lovely. But we shall see.
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] pulls her cellphone out of her pocket, handing it over to Arinai with a bright smile. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] it takes a moment for Arinai to retrieve hir phone out of hir strife specibus (fishing is a game of patience!) but ze withdraws it safely eventually and hands it over, accepting Evie's in return. --
PM: You're not going to be my knight in shining armour?
IO: Ah, I fear I am more your scholar in comfortable clothing. At least as things presently stand.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] chuckles, imputting hir info into Evie's phone. --
IO: And there we are! All done. You may reach me at the... ah... non-esoteric address.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] holds it out to return it to her --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] writes in their own information in return, subtly snooping to see what other contacts may be on Arinai's phone before handing it back over to hir, taking her own phone back in exchange. --
PM: Why, thank you!
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] it's empty lmao. haha no friends ari --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] lmao what a loser... --
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] places her cellphone back into her fetch modus, setting the timer for two and a half minutes. --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] takes and replaces hir own phone into hir fetch modus. You could swear there was a tiny splash. --
IO: You are quite welcome, my dear. And with that...
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] gives a bit of a flourish --
IO: I am off! If I am not back within two days, I have either escaped or been put in jail. In the latter case, assistance would be appreciated.
PM: Hah ha! I will try my best, but no promises!
PM: ...Uhm, unless it's the favour.
IO: Mmn... No, I believe I will save that a bit longer. It would take a fool to waste such a treasure.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] winks. --
IO: But it was indeed good to meet you, my dear. Take care upon your travels.
-- prospiciencesMunificence [PM] looks away with a giggle, growing only a little genuinely bashful. --
PM: Aw, jeez...! You go on and go now, Arinai.
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] a small laugh escapes hir, waving a little as ze exits stage right. Not pursued by bear. Not all of my dreams can come true --
-- illuminantOverseer [IO] gave up trolling prospiciencesMunificence [PM] at 18:40 --
