I got a new job. And like two weeks into it, one of the 16 year old high school girls that does shirt pressing died in a car accident. Her services are tomorrow but, it's been rough to navigate. Not because I knew her, but because everyone else did and the impact seems to be pretty widespread throughout town.
Personally it's hard because she was a cheerleader, and the outpouring of support is because of typical small town politics with the local cheerleader dying too young and everyone is oh so sad. But LGBTQ people around here deal with feelings that this death has brought to the community every single day just from growing up in this community. And I 100% know that, first hand. But it's also tragic regardless.
Idk trying to be respectful to people affected while trying to not be jaded about the overall politics of the south. But I get a three day weekend, and now I'm trying to debate whether I should go to the services to support the people at work or stay away cause I didn't rally know her yet. But either way, I'm going kayaking 😎
Update no one asked for but now they're setting up a scholarship fund in her honor that no one like me will ever get in a community like this. And her parents stopped by after working out.. Just a week after it happened. Idk just all crazy to me. 800 in attendance to her funeral, most people that went didn't even know her. But the queer kids around here that live wvery day in hell or kill themselves because of the hell they live in.. no support. Nothing
