I love this one YouTube guy who loves lestat so much he stopped working for like 20 seconds
It's funny that Louis is canonically always on the grind. He's investing he's a real estate mogul he's a multi millionaire he watches the stock market open and all his husbands are cringefail jobless art guys who also suck so bad. Except for human Daniel who has two pulitzers.
no but itâs even funnier when you think that daniel only has those pulitzers because louis like,,, gave him his grind. daniel was in fact also a cringefail jobless art guy until louis basically rewired his brain to make him the most employable journalist on the planet.
âI could feel the movement of air with his movements. [âŚ] The earth beneath me always felt liquid.â
LIGHT + madeleine looking at claudia daniel looking at armand louis looking at lestat
legitimately nothing funnier on earth than louis' side of the bedroom very prim lovely woodwork immensely chic vs lestat's full sized double wide floor mirror. and absolutely nothing else
help
sex mirror+ privately commissioned rococo portrait of maman vs the literal fucking closet

BBC iPlayer released updated subtitles for IWTV S2.
louis mon chère pourquoi are they saying that my iconique leyendecker gentlemanâs smoking jacquet est une cardigan fĂŠminin ? do these moche millennials really believe that je suis some sort de femme ĂŠmasculĂŠe ?? mais câest trop stupide ! i am un homme mais non ?? do you not believe that i am manly, louis ??? SAY THAT I AM UN HOMME, LOUIS !!!!!!!! JE VAIS TUERâ mais non ! bien sĂťr i am not angry with you louis âŚ.. tu est trop belle to be angry with âŚ.. you are mon how you say uhh âŚ.. malewife ! you are lâamour de ma vie ĂŠternelle âŚ. mais oh la la now claudia is triggerĂŠe âŚâŚ sâil te plaĂŽt dis-la que i did not mean to throw all our belongings across the room âŚ. oh mais câest ne matter pas, parce que bien sĂťr mon truc prĂŠfĂŠrĂŠe dans cette maison câest toi âŚâŚ. now come to coffin mon chère ⌠papa est fatiguĂŠ
Seven years of compromise. Denial. It all gave way.
#lestat: 'this is how it went. you dont believe me?' me:'i believe... that you believe that'#this retelling didnt have the last line in it (we're done claudia.. we just need a moment) which is.. interesting#also this is starting after claudia had already tried unsuccessfully to get lestat to stop hitting louis#but regardless: louis can bark and he can bite all he wants but deep down he KNOWS hes at a disadvantage#proof of it being that the SECOND that lestat realises this is not one of louis' 'hysterical moods' he so carelessly glossed over#it takes him 0.2 seconds to physically incapacitate him for months#he was Letting louis brawl and spit venom because he was trying to placate him by letting louis think he had agency#but the minute his twisted idea of love (=possession; ownership) was at risk he was ready to kick him back in the cage#>>> prev tags#interview with the vampire#the end of this scene in s1 is something i have not stopped thinking about since i saw it when it came out... and im not even talking about#the cloud gift scene because that lasts a second. it IS an act done with the explicit intent of violently showing lestat's superiority#(=he is an old + powerful vampire. he has powers he deliberately refuses to share with louis so that their relationship can never be equal)#BUT it didnt hit me as hard as lestat dragging louis' body by the throat. fingers digged deep into his flesh. 1cm more and he'd behead him#and they are both aware of this: lestat COULD behead him with his bare hands. so now knowing this ^ dialogue had happened just before that?#i'm staring at the ceiling folks..............

"also this is starting after claudia had already tried unsuccessfully to get lestat to stop hitting louis" <------ THANK YOU!
Lest we forget--the SCRIPT/Lestat's version focused on Lou hitting wee defenseless Les, while entirely skipping over how Lou had all those bites on his face & broken nose & busted bloody mouth:
Claudia had blood on her forehead from when Lestat threw her "built-like-a-bird" body off of him so he could go back to beating the HELL out of Louis, and she crashed into the furniture!
The SCRIPT deliberately talked down the fight (AND the drop), like it wasn't that bad, or like the drop was an accident; puh-lease~!
But as Lestat kept talking & going OFF script he told on himself: the fight only started cuz Lestat tried to kill Claudia first!
The Trial was a effing sham, deliberately tryna make Les look better & Lou look worse. Les has to go OFF SCRIPT to emphasize that HE was the ONLY one with the power to BREAK a vampire. Cuz it circles right back to how meagre & futile Lou & Claudia's Murder Plot in Ep7 was--they CAN'T kill Les, and he KNEW it all along.
Going back to what I've been saying this whole time: Lestat (AND Armand!!!) LET Louis PRETEND to be in control and PRETEND to have any power; when these superpowered vamps were the ones holding all the cards the whole frikkin time.
we need to put more funding into education
i dont even think this is textual i think itâs really just another fault of how much of a mess the pacing was but god this just screws heavily with the depiction of louisâ love for claudia. the only confirmation we get is that it was lestat who was the one that saved which like. ok so? claudia is dead! he still did that fucking play! he was not forced to be there, for all we know! and all you know louis! for all you know louis, he couldve prevented that! âlike itâs not that he went back to lestat because he didnât Really and i knew he would and i wanted him to Because i knew he would but for so little??? the margins were damning evidence but he didnât doubt it for a second he said any evidence that lestat is in the smallest way going back to is evidence enough for me which. thatâs fine but write me a stronger reason! like. their final scene didnât play as forgiveness but it also didnât not and a lot of the thanking just read as. âyeah ok you had a pointâ to. what exactly? to do what lestat did???????? the writing itself in the scene was iffy at best because i dont. i dont think they were trying to go for an all excusatory reconciliation but whatever âthis is complicated there were things done that are inexcusable but i will acknowledge the things that have moved me deeplyâ + âwe (circling back to the novelâs original inspiration) are both parentâs grieving this child we both failed (although on very different levels here, which i feel the writing also did not. distinguish.)â angle they were going for did not come through and just. in the end it just feels rushed. which unfortunately canât be reason to say the way things came off is exactly what the writers meant but then. why did they fucking rush it and pace it like that.
well i guess itâs textual because the writers are saying it so. anyway this also ruined danielâs final divorce blow to armand and louisâ marriage. his reveal was less about exposing armand to louis because louis was being manipulated and lied to again by his companion, and more about a âlestat is actually your true love! heâs been your true love all along, donât you see?!â which. not a stance iâd expect from daniel molloy i must say.
An apt metaphor. I always took you for a dog, Lestat.
louis: you hate claudia.
lestat: no i don't.
louis: yeah. you despise her. you complain constantly about how vapid and annoying she is. you hate her. it's pitiful how you won't stop making fun of her stupid little diaries. let her have the diaries!
lestat (monotone): i don't know what you're talking about.
louis: you hate read. her diaries.
claudia: wait...what?
louis: and you made me swear on my life not to tell anyone.
claudia: lestat is that true?
lestat: i like that you keep your diaries.
armand: what are your diaries about?
claudia....hanging out with your smartest and funniest friend.
lestat: *groans*
claudia: did you just GROAN?
lestat: NO.
claudia: ... when i said 'hanging out with your smartest and funniest friend?
lestat: *groans again*
claudia: LIKE THAT. LIKE THAT. YOU JUST DID IT AGAIN
lestat: FUCK
lestat: no! i didnt!
claudia: first of all, keeping a murder diary takes a lot of work, okay? you have to organize the victims, you have to do a google calendar, and- and build alibis- IT TAKES A LONG FUCKING TIME. and i've been working on it for a while, okay?? and then, let me say that NOBODY LIKES YOU. okay? NOOOOOBODY LIKES YOU. NOBODY LIKES YOU. you know when you're drunk, and you cry to me "oh i'm afraid louis doesn't like me because i'm mean and a bitch and i suck" well you DO, okay? you fucking SUCK. and i only hang out with you out of pity and the suffocating weight of our shared history AND THAT. IS ALL.
claudia: and you're just soooo in love with your rags to riches narrative, like you're the only fucking person in the world who didn't come from money. you know what? your parents. were upper. middle. aristocracy.
lestat: no they weren't.
claudia: lestat. they were. you grew up in a castle.
lestat: âŚit was medieval.
