You’re able to call your parents “Mom” and “Dad”. They were not born with those names.
You’re able to call your teachers “Mr” or “Mrs” and their last name. You’d get in trouble if you addressed them by first name.
You’re able to call a celebrity by their chosen stage name.
You’re able to call your friends a shortened version of their name, their middle name instead of their first, or a completely random nickname.
You’re able to call a married woman by her husband’s last name, even though she was not born with that last name.
But when someone’s transgender, how does calling them by a name they were not born with somehow become a hassle?
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
“Age is just a number” means senior citizens can still find love.
“Age is just a number” means middle-aged people can still find love.
“Age is just a number” means 30+ people can still find love.
“Age is just a number” is not an excuse to be a pedophile.
Nothing is an excuse to be a pedophile.
So don’t.
Just don’t.
Also age is just a number refers to age gap couples in which both parties are adults
And one of those parties is not 18 and the other is 32

a reminder for nonasian people
you know… with this rise in interest in east asian culture and “aesthetics” over the past couple of years also comes with a rise in asian cultural appropriation… so for every nonasian out there who would consider themselves a fan of cutesy asian things or stuff like kpop or anime, you guys have an obligation to people of the culture you’re enjoying to be informed and educated about their struggles. it’s not right to love and consume cultures that’s not your own while ignoring the people who are part of them. read up on appropriation, the fetishisation and infantilisation of east asian women and desexualisation of asian men, whitewashing in media, xenophobia, the erasure of our achievements and the model minority myth. you owe it to us east asians to be educated on topics that concern us if you’re going to continue to consume media and content we make.
EDIT: if you’re nonasian please reblog this so that other nonasians can see it!!

*Sixth and seventh years are when students tend to begin to go into Field-Specific classes, as well as some internships and such with areas in which they would like to work. Because of this, at the end of the fifth year after the LAMP (Levels of Aptitude in Magical Performance) tests are administered, students are brought into a meeting with a counselor (often their Head of House) to discuss possible career futures. Some of the “required” classes for these two years can be dropped based on the schedule and agenda of the student in question, as well as their LAMP test scores.

ILVERMORNY SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY
Headmaster: Agilbert Fontaine Educational Representative of MACUSA, High Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards, North American Grandmaster of Enchantments
Dear Mr./Ms. ____________ We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Your first semester begins on the first day of September.
Enclosed you will find a pendant with the symbol of a Gordian Knot. During the Initiation Ceremony (which includes but is not limited to the Sorting Ceremony and the Wand-Placement Ceremony), you will learn more about this Knot. For now, however, the pendant will be necessary to enter the grounds of Ilvermorny.
To accept your place in Ilvermorny, simply place the pendant around your neck. If you do not wish to attend Ilvermorny, leave the pendant in its case and send it to the Head of Admissions at Ilvermorny, Prof. Veruca Froid, via owl or similar.
Along with this letter and the pendant, you will find a list of required supplies for First Year students, as well as a schedule for the upcoming school year and instructions to travel to Ilvermorny Castle.
Yours sincerely, Deputy Headmistress Emaline Goode

“Why is it that certain languages are the best roots for certain spells?” This is a question asked often by magical theorists, linguists, and of course, professors in their related courses. It is posed at the beginning of Magical Theory lessons across the country and the world, and one that this volume will attempt to adequately answer to all those who hope to create new magic of their own.
Naturally, most spells students are taught in school are Latin-based, as the Roman empire spread its influence across Europe during one of the greatest periods of magical innovation the world had seen. However, most common house-taught magic is based in the family’s native language - English, French, and Spanish most usually, though Native American language-based spells are not uncommon*. More often than not, Healing magic is worked in Greek. “Natural” magic (most often animal- and plant-based incantations with raw, primal power) in America is often in a variety of Native American or African languages.
In other words, types of magic are incanted in certain languages simply because that is the language they were in originally. However, students will do well to realize that while any language will work for a base of any incantation, often trying to create a spell in the same language as spells of a similar nature will often have the best effect, if only because it is easier to simply tweak an pre-existing spell to fit your purpose than to start from scratch.
*Many “household” spells were created by witches and wizards of little learning decades ago in their own language, and then were passed down verbally from generation to generation, or among friends. This is why older household spells are either very common across the world, newer ones are perhaps only common in one area, and some spells are kept within a family because of secrecy, or because no one else has a need for the spell (many alchemy and Herbology-oriented spells are this way).

Ilvermorny School Uniform
The official uniform of Ilvermorny follows, with the number of items each student is required to have each year:
5 plain white collared shirts
5 navy blue slacks (wizards) or skirts (witches)
Two striped cranberry-and-blue neckties
Two sweater vests (students may choose between cranberry, blue, or one of each)
Cranberry and blue robes with a Gordian Knot clasp
The outer robe may be swapped for a cranberry or blue blazer
One black or blue pointed hat
When students arrive in their common rooms the first day of term, all vests and blazers that do not already bear the student’s House Crest will be given it, and likewise with the Ilvermorny Crest on the robes.
Students are required to wear their uniform, including the robes, to all formal occasions, such as school-hosted parties and feasts. They must also wear their uniforms to classes, but unless the teacher also requires the robes, they may choose whether or not to wear them.
Students should also bring a winter cloak, but the colors and style are not monitored.
Shoes are not monitored, so long as they comply with the dress code. However, shoes must be closed-toed for certain classes, such as Care of Magical Creatures, Potions, Herbology, etc.
Students may wear anything they’d like (complying with the school dress code) outside of class and formal events.

Trans* Students at Hogwarts
But seriously guys, imagine:
Transgender people at Hogwarts.
Little first years at the sorting ceremony, the sorting hat whispering in their ear “It’ll get better. Just wait. I know who you really are.” as their toes curl, because they know. They know.
They come out in like year five or six, and they change dorms, and all the people in their new dorm accept them.
Maybe they loan them hairs for polyjuice elixir, so they can try transitioning.
FtM’s getting magical binders that gives them the physical relief and feeling of not binding but the physical appearance of a flat chest.
MtF’s getting magical bras that give the appearance of breasts but doesn’t give them neck pains like breastplates.
And they change their name and pronouns, and all the forms magically change to fit their gender, people get little magic reminders when they misgender them.
Madam Pomfrey gives them ointments and stuff, and their body change. Professor Macgonall shows them how to magically change their voice.
Students combating the howlers from outraged parents by sending howlers to the parents shouting at them to be decent human beings. They start sending howlers to the students saying things like “I really like how your beard is starting to look!” or “You look really nice in that skirt and your legs look super smooth!” or “You have the cutest smile, wanna go to the Yule Ball?!”.
The Trans students staying at school during all holidays to avoid abuse at home.
