I need you to imagine something beautiful with me because ohhh my days
okay so pretend that somehow Richie had to be in athletic P.E. with the guys (Max, Kyle, Jason). But like he hates it sooo much so he’s constantly asking to just sit out cause his stomach hurts or something (the coach couldn’t care less, especially about Richie). He usually just grabs a notebook and draws the whole time.
and of course, Max and his buddies get curious. Just what is this geek drawing in his stupid notebook with anime stickers on the cover, huh???? Not even trying to lift weights how crazy. so, the only obvious solution is to go and steal it, of course. And they do! They think it’s gonna be filled with anime drawings n stuff cause he’s weird
but nooo, it’s actually filled with messy drawings of the dudes in the weight room throughout several weeks just Workin out or talking with each other during breaks (mainly being the three guys currently looking at his notebook). Richie obviously tries to explain that he’s just trying to get better at live drawings and line confidence but it’s not like they know what that means, so now he just looks like a little freak who likes drawing dudes working out
not a good look you got on there Richie, you into dudes or something? You gay? /j
(just wait till they find his other sketchbook filled with drawings of the football players and cheerleaders in football game action that he draws in after he’s finished being the mascot)

going by what Ive observed about dudes like him, I think Max is pretty good at reading until it comes to doing it out loud. He reads slower out loud (like any normal person) and it pisses him off
imagine Richie is helping tutor him and asks for him to read something out loud so they don’t have to move the paper/book he’s reading from and Max is like “fuuuck I’m gonna look so stupid”. Once he does read it out though, Richie just goes to work out the problem instead of mentioning anything.
“Dude I stuttered so fucking bad reading that” “okay????” His ass has better things to do (finish tutoring so he can go home and watch anime)
I like this and I also like to think they're both pretty insecure around each other for different reasons: Max is insecure around Richie bc Richie is so smart and he feels stupid in comparison,,, and Richie is insecure around max because Max is super strong and cool and he feels like a weak weirdo around him
And maybe there's some slight resentment towards each other but neither of them are gonna communicate so
