One of the most precious aspects of Jiu-Jitsu is the special nature of the community. People connected globally for their love and respect of the art and how it translates to everyday life. Always grateful to my Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructor Professor Eddie Kone and his introduction to the super kind and supportive Professor Ryron Gracie. It's like the gift that keeps on giving and inspires you to do the same, feeding back into the health and growth of the community. This time the magic led to a phenomenal seminar conducted by the legendary Professor Léo Vieira. All hosted by the brilliant manager Mr. Unan, at the fabulous Hard Rock Hotel Maldives. Around project commitments I did the best I could this year to attend the annual gathering and review at @EKBJJ. Movement is one of my seven go to mindfulness tools and the last ten and a bit years it's mostly been Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with Professor Eddie Kone. Much respect always to my instructors from other disciplines. Your lessons continue to serve me well. When it comes to martial arts, I love the transferable life skills (and spandex 👀). Specifically with GJJ at EKBJJ, I've had to go deeper into my headspace. Revisit triggers to past trauma, sit with frustration, solve problems, deal with injury, let go of ego, accept when I haven't wanted to, embrace change, become more giving and so much more. The community spirit has also been an import part of my personal growth. When the alignment is right, it's simply magical beyond words. Everyone has a unique experience of course and some days are smoother than others but I'm truly grateful. If you told me ten years ago I'd be on film sets and voicing video games one minute, then running a corporate mindfulness session the next I'd be looking at you very funny indeed.. As they say, 'we just never know where life is gonna take us' and it's OK to let it happen (most of the time 👀).. At one point in my life music was everything and thankfully I still use my voice in a way that excites me and serves others. Love working with this team sharing mindfulness tools to address stress, anxiety, boundaries and emotional intelligence.
