The Sun itself
[ Deus Absconditus - A God in Rome ] Characters Index
THE IMPERIAL HOUSEHOLD:
Publius Aelius Hadrianus: The Roman Emperor, founder of the Aureati, and an avid Myth Hunter. He constantly travels across the Empire to protect it from all threats, both visible and invisible, while ruthlessly collecting anything touched by the divine.
Antinous: A mysterious demigod whose true origins remain mostly unclear. He prefers to hunt in secret, far away from public eyes. Blessed by nature but strangely repulsed by large body of waters.
Marcus Ulpius Trajanus: Former Emperor of Rome. An extraordinary war strategist and one of history's most beloved emperors. He passed away completely unaware of the invisible world that constantly surrounded his family.
Pompea Plotina: Former Empress and wife of Trajan. She was one of the founding members of the Aureati and has always been especially fond of Hadrian. Throughout her husband's reign, she quietly worked in the shadows to ensure Trajan would never have to face a divine threat.
Vibia Sabina: Current Empress of Rome. A caring and hardworking woman whose sharp personality closely mirrors that of her grand-uncle, Trajan. Just like him, she is kept completely unaware of the Aureati's real mission.
Irene: The Empress's Ornatrix and closest handmaiden. A strict, incorruptible woman who guards the private chambers of the palace with an iron fist. She seems to have only one true weakness: Calpurnia!
Publius Acilius Attianus: Former tutor and Praetorian Prefect to Hadrian. While he was an honorary member of the Aureati, he never personally took to the battlefield against the arcane. Following a catastrophic political mistake made within his office, he was stripped of his proximity to the Emperor and quietly retired to private life.
Lucius Acilius Attianus: Eldest son of Attianus and co-founder of the Aureati. Once his childhood friend Hadrian ascended the throne, Lucius made the ultimate sacrifice: leaving the frontlines of the Aureati to follow his friend across the Empire, aiming to restore his family’s honor.
Quintus Acilius Attianus: Youngest son of Attianus. He grew up under the weight of a promise: to one day become an Aureatus. However, he was strictly forbidden from joining the order by his older brother, who seeks only to protect him. Determined to prove his worth, Quintus works relentlessly in the shadows to finally earn his place among them!
ANTINOUS'S FAMILY
Filematia: A gentle-hearted woman whose only desire was to have a child. One day, a mysterious old man granted her wish, entrusting her with a special child who required absolute protection. Taking her duty deeply to heart, she guarded him with all her might, until the boy's uncontrollable divine nature forced him to flee his home.
Menandros: A minor political figure in Claudiopolis. A serious man who quietly opposes Roman hegemony and influence in Bithynia. Though he never truly believed Filematia’s bizarre adoption story, he accepted the child into his home, assuming a boy of such strange origins might one day prove politically useful. Unfortunately, the child brought him nothing but chaos.
Silenus: The Ancestral God of the forests and wine. Former caretaker of Dionysus and best friend to Priapus. He personally took care of Antinous as an infant and tracked down a mortal family to hide him. Silenus fiercely insists that he is the boy's true father, and loves to remind Antinous of how he used to cradle him while feeding the newborn baby hot mulled wine and honey instead of Ambrosial milk!
???: A mysterious goddess. According to Silenus, she is the divine mother who gave birth to Antinous. Antinous possesses absolutely no memory of her, and Silenus remains fiercely adamant about keeping her true identity locked away in the shadows.
THE AUREATI
Djedet: Current leader of the Aureati, Priest of Thoth, and a scribe from Alexandria. He is the one who tracked down Antinous in Bithynia, taking on the responsibility of his education and combat training to shield the Emperor from the mythical forces that Hadrian himself provoked. Beyond his keen ability to sense any divine presence around him, he also happens to be an excellent cook!
Calpurnia: Priestess of Venus and the co-spiritual guide of the Aureati. Just like the leader, she seems to possess the rare ability to perceive and track invisible threats with absolute precision. In her free time, she loves to bake treats and snacks for her colleagues.
Theodoros: A Greek architect from Athens with a keen eye for the divine. He possesses the unique gift to design buildings, temples, and altars specifically structured to channel and shelter divine energy. When seeking inspiration for his grand designs, he can usually be found slacking off under the shade of a nice tree.
Wulfgar: A Germanic blacksmith and former gladiator. He possesses a rare talent for forging weapons and artifacts fit for divine beings with unnatural precision. Crafting brings him immense joy, especially when his work makes people happy!
Maahes: A sacred cat from the Temple of Bubastis. He follows Djedet everywhere as a loyal guardian but holds a fierce, unexplained dislike for Antinous.
Furvus: a sacred Jackal who likes to follow Antinous around during his hunting sessions. He likes to play with Maahes too, but the cat doesn't seem to like him either!

I've also added some personal headcanons and designs (like the Shōjumaru, Devil Kings and Judge End's finale designs) ✨
Here's a little close-up of my original designs!
Back with a little re-design for Sekhmet and Bastet and a brand new Goddess! Mafdet, the Piercer of Darkness!
"And do you know the story behind that constellation too? It's actually a funny story, but let me explain--"
Hadrian had always been into astronomy since he could remember. His grandfather would often entertain the mischievous child with his stories every night, introducing him to the many marvelous wonders of the starry sky.
Antinous, on the other hand, given a classic education, only knew half of those interesting facts, as he had to focus mostly on what was necessary to know.
When Hadrian shares those stories, Antinous will sit down, listening to him talking for hours... Wondering if he will ever memorize all of them well enough to share with others too!
Having to come to terms with your curse is not always easy, especially if the water keeps calling you!
In order to avoid getting dragged into the abyss of any large body of water - Antinous claims that not every body of water does this to him, but he can't be sure since he can't truly give it a try - you just have to accept the fact that you can only stay in artificial pools or baths and call it a day.
But Antinous will never forget how he once swam freely in the sea without any consequences. If only he could do that again...
Fanart of @milky-rozen 's Seth!! Finally had time to draw him (ФωФ)

STOP, THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL I'M EXPLODING QKRJZIEHXJDH
Admittedly, I know nothing about Epic the Music, however, I did notice something weird happening on Pinterest that convinced me to work on this infographic.
Recently, I noticed how some people were adding my artworks from my new project "Deus Absconditus: A God in Rome" into their Epic the Musical boards.
Nothing wrong with that! I'm actually happy that people are getting inspired by those designs, what I do find wrong tho is the wild confusion between the two Antinous.
Seeing people putting Antinous of Bithynia's statues in those boards felt so wrong I felt like a little clarification was needed lol hope this helps somehow!
What a beautiful night!
[ A quick guide on Antinous's Identity as a deity! ]
Welp welp how Apopi encounter for the first time Thoth.
And I guess Apopi is growing fond of him..but not in a,good way (poor fella affection starved)
I picture him to be like...a stalker?yeah
And if you ask Thoth go around the calm part of the sacred river only to check his Ibis so..he found him randomly.
Aalsoo💞💞🥹I noticed that we reached 101 followers and im happy and glad to yall so manyy😭🙏
