Two Manga Volumes from Yuri Author Shio Usui to be Released in Japan This Week
Two volumes of Shio Usui's Yuri manga works are scheduled for release in Japan on September 17. They are the first volume of Onna Tomodachi to Kekkon Shitemita (Trying Marriage Out with my Female Friend) and volume three of Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon (Kaketa Tsuki to Doughnut).
Onna Tomodachi to Kekkon Shitemita follows two friends who make a pact to get married if they are still single in five years. The series begins at the end of this pact, as the women decide to give married life a shot with each other. The series debuted in Comic Yuri Hime last year, where it is currently serialized.
Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon, also serialized in Comic Yuri Hime follows Uno Hinako, an office worker that throws herself into makeup, fashion, and falling in love. But despite her best efforts, she cannot find that special someone and begins to fall into a self-doubting mess. At her lowest moment, a level-headed coworker, Asahi Sato appears by her side and comforts her. This moment begins a relationship that will change both their lives.
Both series are published in Japanese by Ichijinsha. Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon is also licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, which publishes the first two volumes. The series has received acclaim for its characters and focus on growth and self-acceptance. YuriMother reviewed the first volume and awarded it a 9/10.
