The hybrid couldn’t help but relax at this moment, hearing Caroline speak in her increased drinking being around him raising his glass to hers “You should agree that we we have our reunion you enjoy it, to see there is someone that finds you attractive and can give you the world.”

Caroline rolled her eyes as she tossed back the long glass of champagne that she had picked up along the way, Klaus being around her always made her undead body need to hit drunkness to actually find a reason to be around him. “Stop that, stop offering the world, Klaus.”

The brunette sighed, nodding reluctantly. There it was again. All of her friends, the people she adored and wanted to keep safe, were all more concerned about her and while it was definitely nothing to complain about, Elena couldn’t help but feel discouraged by it. Not to mention the amount of guilt that came along with knowing how much they had already sacrificed for her. “I know Care,” she agreed, “but,” and it was quite a substantial but, “Klaus is here because of me. My ❛ precious ❜ blood. You’re all in danger because of me and I can’t sit here and let him hurt all of you to get to me. I know… I know that you all just want to keep me safe, to keep me alive but I want to keep all of you safe.”

She didn’t know what else to do, to prove to Elena that they were going to fight no matter what. They wanted to protect their friend, Caroline felt like she was the biggest broken record out. “Don’t you realise that we are going to protect you no matter what? You’re human, Elena. It’s true, we are all stronger. Stefan, Damon and I are vampires, Bonnie is a strong bad ass witch, we have strength to protect you.” She held onto her best friends hands, dropping her head before looking up at Elena. “Please, let us help you.”

The blonde didn’t know how to react, she knew that there was something between them, a spark of such. Caroline scrunched her nose before breaking into a smile with a light laugh, a hand moving to tuck hair behind her ear. “Yeah, Saturday sounds great, Stefan.”

Katherine merely laughed, unable to even pretend that she wasn’t amused by Caroline. “Oh, Caroline. You really are adorable.” Within mere moments, the brunette had been made aware of just how many fables and lies had been fed to this little girl. Probably at the hands of the Salvatore brothers. Mainly Stefan. It was cruel, really. Here she was, head filled of motivational quotes with no experience or way to save herself. “You might not be afraid of me but you should be. You could do something really stupid and who knows what I’ll be forced to do. My advice? Come back down to earth before someone who isn’t as kind as me decides they like you better dead.”

She hated that. Being called adorable. It really made her blood boil, even in her human life, it made her overly angry, to the point where no one could talk to her or she’d rip a throat out with words. Now it’ll be with her fangs. But she couldn’t, not to Katherine. She would kill Caroline before she’d have the chance. “Look, Katherine. I know you can kill me, I know I’m not as immortal as someone as old as you. But I’m not afraid of death, hence why I’m not afraid of you.” She wasn’t going to be fearful of anyone trying to kill her, there was no point, she could easily do the same. “I am on earth.”

Elena nodded as she shifted slightly on the couch. Different parts of the brunette had been at war. One part just wanted Klaus gone and would try just about anything to turn that pipe dream into a reality but the other, knew that just because she had been promised help, doesn’t mean that she was going to receive help. No matter what promises were made, Klaus was their brother. “I know. I just want to understand. I want to know that Rebekah and Elijah can understand why we’re doing this. I don’t want anyone to be hurt any more. Klaus needs to be stopped. Mystic Falls can’t be his blood bank or hybrid farm.”

Caroline just needed her friend to stay safe, and not to go running off into the night, giving herself up for everyone else. They had constantly advised her not to. “You can understand, you can ask Elijah if you really want to but, Elena, we need you to stay safe. You are too important to all of us to lose you. We just care Elena, that’s all it is.” She spoke as a hand rested on her best friends shoulder, smiling gently. “We can handle ourselves, you’re the human in this equation Elena, that means, unsafe, killable, mortal. We are just trying to keep you alive. We know he needs to be stopped, we will make sure he is stopped. Just, trust us, and no more solo missions of your own.”

stefan moved from the seat in front of her and over to the seat beside of her, placing his hand on hers. “caroline, it won’t be hard forever. you are strong enough to get through this. i promise.” stefan didn’t give her false hope, he didn’t believe in that. caroline was far stronger than she could ever imagine, he knew that she would be able to overcome but she had to try. “crying in the back seat of a restaurant won’t help but i am here to guide you through this. one day at a time.” the man wrapped his arms around her and held her to his chest, feeling the girl cry as she fell into him. “matt is human, remember that.” 

Her hand weakly wrapped around Stefan’s, she felt the sudden need for comfort, and Stefan was the only one providing. “I don’t think I am, why did she do this to me? Why did Katherine use me to get to you and Damon? Why me?” She continued on the rampage of questioning why she had been turned into a creature of the night. Her best friend hated her, another fearful, she didn’t know what to do. So she was here, in the back crying, stressed out of her mind. “I don’t want to hurt him, it’s too hard, I need the help Stefan. Please, help me. “

         ‘ caroline, ’ he spoke softly as he slid into the booth at the mystic grill. her blonde head was in the palms of her hands and he could tell she had been up all night just by the disheveled look on her face. ‘ by the old traces of mascara on your eyes i am going to go out on a whim and assume you didn’t tell matt like you planned yesterday, ’ he spoke with a laugh trying to make light of the situation. the only way caroline would get through her transition was by finding the light at the end of the tunnel.

She didn’t realise how difficult it was going to be, not just the whole being a vampire, side of her new life, but trusting Matt with the secret, or breaking it off with him, no matter what reason, she had sat at the Mystic Grill booth in the back of the regular hang out spot for the gang, crying, dry sobbing, everything that would keep people away from her. “Stefan.” Her voice was breathless, the tears still fell down her face, her emotions on high. “Why is it so hard?”
