Suicide as a life experience.
Is it boredom and reality that seems just a bit too stark? Todayās youth; meaning anyone 25 and younger, or simply atleast 25yrs younger than I am seem to quit. Quit with no warning. We see their smiles on social media. Their accomplishments are praise worthy and they are compassionate and empathetic. I think thatās the curse. How does someone in todayās world handle todayās world with empathy and compassion without any life experience to help them protect themselves. They have no guard from the sociopath that is social media and technology. They are no more equipped to handle the barrage of information than we were in the 80s and 90s, but we expect them to squirm into life out loud with a smile and dance.
Suicide seems like such an easy solution. They didnāt ask to be here. Itās as if life was a course elective and they decided to take it pass/fail. Do they still do that in college?
Death is far less scarier than living out the unknown. What examples do they have to keep going? Suicide is not something so easy to try out and see if it works. But you may not have to be around for the consequence so who cares. Who cares? Who is really at a loss? Every person, every thought, every experience that has been wiped out by the pain of existence has left us deteriorated as a species. We failed them by not giving them space to articulate. The gift they gave was grief and life experience.
