It’s gross and disturbing that the judge referred to Kesha as an investment. She’s a human being for fucks sake. And she’s a victim. Today is another sad reminder that courts rarely protect victims. Fuck Sony. Fuck Dr. Luke. And fuck any artist who works with him and puts money and fame ahead of being an ally for survivors.

Doing some digging and chatting with Netflix reps, a few of us have uncovered pertinent information that can help us get Netflix’s attention, and let them know we want a 3rd season for YJ!

How can you help?

Mainly: Watch Young Justice on Netflix!

Currently, it’s only available in the US and Canada; if you’re not in either of those countries, contact Netflix and ask them to add Young Justice, which brings me to the next point:

2/19/16 - Kesha loses her court case against Dr. Luke

just because this post doesnt give any details whatsoever, i’ll add some… this is very recent news but more is available here.

kesha’s preliminary injunction against dr luke, which motioned to nullify her contract with Sony, was dismissed. Sony has stated that kesha will be able to record within the terms of her contract without dr luke, but her lawyer has argued that that’s basically untrue because Sony won’t promote her music without dr luke’s backing (since they have sided with dr luke before). 

her counterclaims of sexual abuse and rape were criticized on the grounds that the court needed to see more “evidence” before they could proceed. it’s doubtful that such evidence exists because she probably did not go to a hospital after any of these incidents. in particular i don’t see how they expect her to provide evidence that she was drugged and raped by him at the age of 18– ten years ago now.

I’ve been grated down to just about zero faith in our justice system for rape survivors. I often hear people demand survivors to report/press charges to handle their sexual assault; these people want to believe that justice will be served if only victims would just go through the system. But the system doesn’t work. It does. Not. Work.

Our system repeatedly, consistently, faithfully protects predators and abusers. Very rarely is there justice. And in the grueling process of pressing charges, we ask survivors to relive their trauma over and over - not just to a court of law, but to a court of public opinion. We ask survivors to undergo character assassination, victim blaming, moralizing, and to go up against people who care more about preserving wealth, status, and power – for months and sometimes years while the case is open. And after all that, they get nothing. Or worse, in Kesha’s case, a ruling that contractually binds you to your rapist for 6 more albums.
