Indeed it has been years since his wife had passed and yet once this event comes, Kotetsu couldn’t help but remember about her. Much more during those moment where he hears Kaede. He would immediately recall Tomoe’s face which makes it harder for Kotetsu to contain his feelings during their conversation thus having to end it faster than expected. He feels bad since Kaede is the one getting affected but he didn’t want her to worry about him. But it seems this year was going to be special. To be able to see her seems to give a better effect into him than just HEARING her voice.

With a pout that quickly form in his lips at the rejection he got from his suggestion , his body slump in dismay as they head to the waiting line. Whining, he said.

‘ but i wanted to sit together with kaede on the horse.. we can find the biggest one and i can give you most of the space so let’s ride together! ’

Blinking suddenly at the question raise, his gaze fall as well towards the hotdog stand his daughter was pointing, tipping his head in a short consideration before he look back at her, hand moving to ruffle her hair gently as he smile.

‘ well, it might take a while so it’s nice to get something to eat. stay here and i’ll buy us some, okay? ’

Kaede huffed at his whiney plea for a chance to act as if she were still a tiny child. He was always doing this, trying to get back what he missed out on while he was busy at work. It was normally irritating, however recalling that this day was supposed to be for him she sighed and gave in.

“ Fine but only if you can find one big enough. “ She gave him a cheeky grin the instant he agreed to go grab them some. “ Okay, thanks! Could you put ketchup and mustard on mine? “

All this time, Kotetsu had spend Valentine’s on his own. After his wife’s death, such occasion became such a bittersweet day for him. Sure it was fun spending it with friends but images of Tomoe flashes in his mind now and then especially during this times. Which is why the hero preferred spending most of his time alone at home - drinking his ass to sleep until tomorrow comes. However, today was DIFFERENT. Kaede - the wonderful gift given to him by Tomoe - had asked him out. It was an out of a nowhere invitation but it made Kotetsu happy. It made him alive even for the slightest and think that maybe today was not such a bad day.

Grinning sheepishly as he followed behind her little princess, Kotetsu exclaim.

‘ haaaii~ we can go and ride that horse thing afterwards then.. papa and kaede have to ride the same horse though! ’

The past couple years Kaede hadn’t even seen her dad on Valentines day. He would call her, like normal, but he always sounded so sad. Of course, she could never actually tell if he was sad because he tried so hard to hide it. Not this year though. She made sure to plan this specially for him.

“ Okay, dad, but I’m too big for us to ride the same horse. We can ride next to each other though. “ She hopped into the line for the farris wheel, a little in dismay at how long the line was. Valentines day must be a popular day to go to an amusement park... Then her eyes fell on a hotdog stand. She grinned that type of grin kids do when they clearly want something. “ Do you think we could get hot dogs while we wait? “
