It had been days already since the accident had happen and yet clear images of the kid and her mother’s corpse were vivid in Kotetsu’s mind. He couldn’t shake it off. He couldn’t forget what happen. What happened to them was due to the incompetency he had as a HERO.
Five days ago, an incident occurred about a building collapsing was reported. The reason behind it was still unknown so the only responsibility the heroes had to do there was to either maximize the time needed before the building breaks down or to assist finding people inside. Kotetsu was one of the heroes who chooses the latter option. Using the gadgets attached into his suit, the veteran hero was able to save a good number of people.. However, just as when they thought they’ve manage to save all, cries of a child was suddenly heard inside. Kotetsu hurried himself to get inside as the clock was ticking. He searched everywhere and tried localizing the source of the sound, however, upon his arrival it was too late. Both the kid and her mother was found toppled over by a ceiling that had collapsed - probably - not too long ago. The hero could only stand there for a few minutes until he snapped out upon hearing his partner’s voice. He quickly picked up the corpses of the two ladies and carried them out before the building was completely destroyed.. The other heroes had done their best to carry out their duty in holding the building up as long as possible - it was those who were responsible for the search and rescue that should keep the burden of loosing the lives of these two.
Settling down the bodies, Kotetsu prayed on for the serenity of their souls - however, his prayers were left unfinished at the sudden interruption of his own thoughts. Brown irises were fixed at both the mother and daughter, oculars widening at the resemblance they both had. Tomoe and Kaede - the name of his wife and daughter - both pairs were similar to one other physically. The next image that popped into Kotetsu’s head horrified him enough to stand up and leave as quickly as possible.
Ever since that day, the hero had been spacing off in work: whether it’s before, during or after, the images of those dead, lifeless body always appear whenever and every time he seem it - he’s greatly reminded of his weakness and lack of strength along with the fact that he might NOT be able to protect the people he hold and love so dearly.
