Most of his twitching seemed to have subsided, ever so often when he would try to walk on his own, his legs did, but most of it was left in his hands, knowing well if it remained that way he could wave his career goodbye. âShh..â He hushed her as she turned fast, his lips curving up tiredly. âI will tell you all when you are able to.â He knew he could tell her, even if it was the darkest of things, she was not there to judge. She never had, even when it became he was Sirius his son, she never had once looked at him weirdly.
âMe too, me too, kitten. I thought I had lost you.â His voice died down halfway, clearing his throat and only for a moment adverted his gaze from her as tears stung in his eyes. Technically he had lost her, if only for a moment, but he had.
âWhy do you think I kiss your head so much? Itâs guilt.â Ethan managed to tease, his lips tugging into a light smirk. As he remembered being scolded at by madam Hooch, who yet seemed equally impressed by their game.
That night Ethan slept soundly, much unlike he had the past couple of months where rest never seemed to come easy. Even the night he had spent here, wounded, he was plagued with nightmares. Now laying back next to his lover, able to hold her and be assured she was alive, he fell finally in a much needed sleep.
Immediately his eyes opened, unlike they usually slowly did with the usual morning grumbles, they now fixed immediately on the young witch in front of him. Relief washing over him when realising it was not a dream â it was real, she was real. âYes.. I am alive. More than ever now I know you are.â He breathed in relief as his lips curved up the slightest, only to fall as he noticed her tracing the black of his arm. Knowing he had to explain it sooner than later. His fingertips running along her jaw, up to cup her cheek as he slowly leaned in to lock their lips into a kiss. âI love you, Imogen, I love you so much. I wouldnât know what to be without you.â His world would crumble if she was gone, she always had been right there, through everything. How was he supposed to go on without that? His hand twisted the slightest against her cheek, causing him to slowly drop it in fears of hurting her.
His eyes wandered up when there was a faint knock on the door, smiling when Olivia walked in to check on them along with breakfast. With a frown he looked at Sirius who followed after. âI can eat myself. Please.â He exclaimed as Sirius sat down on his side of the bed.
Imogen didnât want to think about life without him. It was a dark world when she thought he was dead. She clung a bit tighter to him, at least, as tight as her frail body could hold him. His kiss proved to her that both her and him were alive, which only meant--
âDaisy ShanahanâŠâ Her voice was hushed as she laid back down, her head resting on his shoulder. During their Potterwatch Chats, she had told Ethan all about the woman, which she called Ma. She was a sweet woman who was the only muggleborn who stayed to help her. The way she dealt with the kids was endearing. She would tell stories where the shadows were the actors to keep everyone entertained. There were dances from the radio, and laughter the emitted from the tent. When they reached the ship, those rescued would hug Imogen and Daisy, exclaiming how safe they felt.
âMaâs dead.â There were no tears in her eyes, but she felt as though Ethan needed to know. âItâs okay,â she assured quickly. âSheâs with Tom and sheâs happy.â Poor Imogen sounded like she was hit on the head quite a few times, but her heart told her that it was the truth. Before she could explain further, Olivia and Sirius opened the door and interrupted them. It wasnât a big surprise for them. Their whole relationship can be documented by a series of interruptions.
Olivia examined Imogen, placing her hand on her head and lighting her wand to look into her eyes. The gash on her stomach was no longer red and oozing. She would need a few more days to recuperate and about another week to put some weight on her bones, but she was over the hump.
âAnd her lungs sound good.â Olivia slyly pointed out as Imogen laughed. Just watching Sirius try to feed his son was enough to make tears roll down her cheeks.
âIt hurts!â Imogen laughed as she held onto her stomach. âLet me.â Imogen asked as she smoothed down their quilt. The tray was soon passed to her, her spoon dipping into the soup. There was an evil glint her head red rimmed eyes as she put a healthy amount on the spoon. She blew on the soup to cool it down.
âHere comes the broom, trying to get the quaffle in the goalâŠâ Imogen sang, obviously amused with having to feed him. If she only knew why he couldnât feed himself. She wouldnât find it so amusing.
