Hey everyone!

For those who know, this has been one nightmare of a year for me between hospitalization, having to say goodbye to one of our cats, and a host of other nightmares that I haven't talked about.

I'm trying to soldier on, and I'm running a big sale on my etsy shop. It does include my Resident Evil merch IIRC, but I have so much more than that for all us wonderful LGBTQ+ people out there.

I'm not here to guilt you into supporting me, but every little bit does help even if you just promo it.

if you have a very strong/powerful character and you DON'T muzzle and chain them and beat it into them that they're only good as a blunt instrument of violence and use their completely natural reactions to this mistreatment as 'proof' that they're innately dangerous and the mistreatment is necessary + justified then what's even the point tbh

So things in my life are still not getting better as my dog is sick (he saw the vet and is on meds) and not showing any desire to eat. So... hopefully this passes with the antibiotics and he gets better but I'm generally very stressed and depressed.

No one stayed.

Zeno had gotten used to that. To being used and dumped when everything was over. Even the Connections cast him aside when he was no longer able to serve a purpose.

That's what landed him here, wasn't it?

The clone looked down at the cup in his hand. Wesker was asking permission. Asking him for a choice. Something he had rarely gotten. A choice.

Was he going to leave? Was the man going to abandon him even if he asked him to stay?

"...please stay."

"You're okay, just breathe for me."

Zeno couldn't stop shaking. The Connections had found him. They HAD come for him. The troops had found Wesker's little safehouse, and Zeno had been furious. Full of rage. Being shot at only made him angrier, and he had slaughtered them all. There was blood all over his clothes, there were bullets worked out of his skin, and he was left standing with a surge of adrenaline and anxiety. And then Wesker's arms snapped around him. Pressure. Contact. Someone was there and he wasn't being hauled back to the lab. His breaths were shaky and shuddering, he couldn't do anything to stop it. He tried focus on his predecessor - his savior's - words. Just breathe. In and out. Just breathe.

No matter what happens, no matter how bad things get....your brother will always be there for you.

Would he?

Zeno didn't say it out loud, but the thought lingered anyways. Things tended to get pretty bad around him, it was just how things went. He was no bringer of hope or joy. He was a plague, a scourge who settled over the world.

Would his brother truly be there when no one else was?

It was foolish to think about. Foolish always. He wasn't going to be abandoned, surely.

Never.

Okay I worked on art yesterday, but it's not ready for the public.

"I should have been there."

Claire's voice trembles in a rare moment of self-doubt. She couldn't protect someone she cared about. That shouldn't have felt so new...she had never been great at being the protector.

But she never realised just how incapable she really was.

Her fingers briefly flutter over the scar on his neck before her hand drops to her side and her gaze drops to the floor between them.

"I'm sorry."

"Claire." Zeno wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to his chest. She was his family. She was his savior. She had saved him from a life of experimentation and misery.

"It was not your fight, and it was not your fault. Even if you had been there... you would have just gotten hurt."

How could he tell her that this would never be her fault? That it hadn't been her fight, her responsibility? And he was alive now, he was alive and he was here with her, living in her brother's house like a ghost.

"You're here now, that's what matters."

Zeno looked at the tiny agent, lowering the whiskey bottle from his lips.

"I'm barely a person and we both know it. I'm a lab experiment, I'm a broken piece of machinery."

He hated that there might be some kind of truth to Kennedy's statement. WAS he a person? Truly?

No, he couldn't be.
