1월 10일, 인천 인스파이어 아레나에서 열리는 '현대카드 슈퍼매치 14'에 출전하는 카를로스 알카라스(스페인)와 야닉 시너(이탈리아)가 한국 팬들에게 출사표를
Latest 🇰🇷 interview with Sincaraz mentioned !
Many fans are looking forward to an Alcaraz–Sinner rivalry, similar to Federer–Nadal. What are your thoughts on that?
CA: It is a great honor for any player to be compared in that way. It means a lot to me that many tennis fans watch our matches and feel this way. Rivalries in sports can draw more passion from fans, and I was also inspired watching Rafa and Roger compete against each other as I was growing up. Jannik and I have already met many times on big stages and played some really tough matches. We have faced each other in several Grand Slam finals as well, and I believe we push each other to become stronger players. We both still have long careers ahead of us, so I hope we can continue to build that kind of positive rivalry moving forward.
JS: Rivalries are a very important part of our sport. In the past, there were the great rivalries between Roger, Rafa, Novak, and Andy, and even before their generation, that tradition has always continued. Rivalries have always existed throughout tennis history, and I believe they’ve played a big role in making the sport what it is. So when I hear that Carlos and I are forming such a rivalry, it makes me feel good. Of course, it’s not just about the two of us. There are so many great players on the tour, creating different matchups. Rivalries have a special meaning not only for fans but also for the players themselves. They make tennis more exciting, and I’m happy to be part of it.
What is the most difficult part when you face each other?
CA: Jannik and I reached the tour around the same time when we were still very young, and because of that we know each other’s games extremely well. There's almost nothing to hide on the court. Jannik is basically a player without weaknesses. He’s powerful in attack, and in defense he’s incredibly fast and solid. In 2025 he was dominant, winning two Grand Slams, the ATP Finals, and competing for the world No. 1 ranking right through the end of the season. When you play him, just playing well isn’t enough. You have to maintain a very high level of focus throughout the entire match, and you can’t relax even for a second. He’s the kind of player who are gives you a chance to beat only if you give 100% from the first point to the last.
JS: Firstly, he has almost no weaknesses. He’s one of the best players on the tour right now, and maybe even the best. That’s why playing him is always a huge challenge, but that's also what makes it so exciting. Every match with him feels different, with its own story and rhythm, which makes it even more interesting. And he’s really fast, so it’s hard to break him from anywhere on the court. He is also very strong mentally, playing every point with the focus of if it like it’s the last one. Those qualities are what make facing him most difficult.

According to the interview from Skysports, "because they were not expecting to meet here, and Sinner was sitting right here in this corner. When Carlos Alcaraz entered the restaurant, he was just a bit surprised."
Just an (or two?) unexpected date(s)🤣❤️
