The simplest everyday coffee/tea grounding spell
I do this every morning. It makes my day feel intentional and starts me off centered. Try it. It might help you too 💕:
-Make your morning drink like normal
-Before the first sip, hold the cup in both hands. Feel the weight of the cup, take in the aroma of the drink
-Take three slow breaths
-Say (out loud or silently): "I am here. I am grounded. I am present in my body."
-Take the first sip slowly. Notice the taste of it, the temperature, how it feels going down your throat.
-Place your feet firmly on the floor. Slightly press into the ground.
-Say: "This day is manageable. I take it one step at a time. I am rooted."
-Take one more intentional sip. Really savor it. Then finish your coffee or tea like normal
waking up early enough to have a slow morning ritual is the most difficult and most rewarding sacrifice. I’m trying to reframe the act of waking up when I feel too tired as a potent act of magic. The mundane act that electrifies my spiritual practice. It truly feels so good to welcome my day in a wholesome, intentional, loving, slow way. I’m just too much of a sleepy baby about it. So hopefully reframing it will help. And maybe it will help you too!
Things I've Done Today that don't Look like Magic but Actually Are
Baked Bread - kitchen magic with a hearth spell baked in.
Making Shampoo/Conditioner - turns haircare into potions and glamours
Cleansing Shower - perform basic spiritual cleansing while doing daily hygiene
Crochet hair covering - embues knot magic into what will be used as a spiritual shield
Sometimes, cliches manage to get the feeling right. Sometimes, it's the little things that can be just as important as the bigger rituals.

🌻Seasonal Depression Salts🌻
i may live in florida but i do get a bit depressed at this time of year, especially with it getting so dark so fast. seems like the days are shorter and gloomy and everything sucks. so! i wanted to bring some warm and bright flowers/herbs into my day and made this salt recipe. this is going in my bath, personally, but you can do whatever you would like with these salts.
ex; maybe even create a floor wash or body scrub, or some kind of spray for your room or house.
🌟Ingredients:🌟
sea salt
himalayan pink salt
calendula flowers
rose hips
sage
majoram
rosemary
spearmint/mint
you can either leave it all as is and mix it, or grind it up or put it in a food processor. i used a mortar and pestle, since it’s all just going in my bath. i let the mixture sit with some carnelian and citrine to charge while i was getting my bath stuff ready.
if you’re worried about the herbs being caught in your drain, you can put it in a cheese cloth and tie it up, or a coffee filter and tie that up too.
**this is not a replacement for therapy or medication**
Reblogging this in March because most of those who suffer from S.A.D. don’t realize that the shift in seasons, the purgatory between Winter and Spring can disrupt your mood even further. Don’t feel broken or panicked if you aren’t automatically switching back to normal after daylight savings time or the spring equinox. You’ll get there! You might just feel extra sluggish and foggy for a short while longer.
Reminder: Don't forget to do the mundane aspect of that spell!
Prosperity spell? Don't forget to put in that job application you've been thinking about. Hearth spell? Bake something hearty (like bread) or brew a simmer pot.
Putting forth energy in the mundane side is equally as important as casting a spell. The two go hand in hand.
I'm so new to grimore writing, do you have any tips or maybe even a master list of ideas to put in one?

Long story short: what do you want to put into it?
It is your book, to do with as you will. Put in whatever you think you will want / need to know, that reflects your style of practicing, etc.

thrifted this cute lil’ cabinet for only a dollar (!!!) which now sits on my altar & holds my tiny jars of herbs!🌿🌾☁️
I ! Love! This! So! Much!
How to Build Your First Altar — A Gentle Beginner’s Guide
Altars don’t have rules — they’re sacred spaces you create for connection, comfort, and intention. Here’s how to make one without stress, pressure, or perfection.
✨ 1. Choose a Space That Feels Safe
Your altar can be:
a bedside table
a shelf
a corner of your desk
a windowsill
even a small box you open when needed
It doesn’t need to be permanent or fancy.
🌿 2. Start with the Basics
You only need a few things, such as:
a candle
a crystal
a bowl of water
something from nature (leaf, stone, flower)
That’s it. An altar grows with you.
🕯️ 3. Add Meaningful Items Slowly
Consider including:
photos of ancestors
deity statues (if you work with any)
feathers, shells, branches
tarot cards
spell jars
offerings
Only choose things that feel right — not what you think you “should” have.
🔮 4. Set a Purpose
What will this altar be for?
meditation?
daily magic?
self-love?
a deity?
manifestation?
Let the purpose shape the vibe.
🌙 5. Keep It Alive
Altars are like gardens — they love gentle tending. You can:
light a candle
refresh water
clean dust
change items seasonally
add offerings
Small touches go a long way.
Your altar is a reflection of you — not a trend. Let it be simple, personal, and comforting. Build it slowly. Let it evolve. It will become a space where your magic breathes.
Witch Tip
At the beginning of every year, you should perform a ritual to cancel all past spells. Either they weren’t successful, they weren’t meant to be, they weren’t as powerful as you had hoped, or maybe you just forgot about a few! It’s best to take all that excess energy/intention out of the universe. It’s also a good time to dump any spell jars or sachets you made that have already taken effect. Happy New Year! And don’t forget to practice gratitude for the spells that did work out for you!
Spring Cleaning too!
How many other secular witches are out there? Reblog or like this to “add yourself to the list.” Just curious!
Secular definition: witchcraft without religion or religious ties (or deities)

Witch Safety PSA
Do not light acorn cap candles unless you’re floating them in water. I left mine unattended for 2 minutes (dumb) and that was more than enough time for the entire cap to catch fire.
Daily Spell
Set your strongest intention for the day by filling an open container with a big splash of water, adding corresponding herbs, then stirring clockwise. Water-safe crystals can also be added. This shallow potion is then left out to evaporate all day. When finishing your day, dispose of the potion however you see fit.
Disposal can include dumping it outside, watering your plants with it, straining the water into a pot to evaporate over heat, straining the water into the sink, composting or throwing out or drying the herbs to then burn, etc.
I don’t suggest drinking anything that’s left out all day. I also urge pet owners to be aware of what may happen when the potion is left unattended.
Tarot Community
What if we traded tarot cards to build our own personalized deck? Of course keeping all the necessary arcana and suits. For example, let’s say someone has a deck that depicts The Star in a way you like more than your current deck. If they like your deck’s Star as well, you trade! And so on.
Irish Folk Magic Pt2
🌾The irish would sweep their floors from the door to their hearth, to bring in good luck rather than sweep it out. (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4428251/4388467/4465967)
🌾Soak your bed sheets and pillows in lavender and rosemary water to help with sleep! (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4666586/4664150/4668362)
🌾Tie a red rag or ribbon around the neck (like a scarf) to ward the evil eye. (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4798657/4787663/4923346)
🌾To get rid of the evil eye, write the 26 letters of the alphabet on a piece of paper and burn it under your nose (I’m not a fan of breathing in smoke so I would change this method to burning the piece of paper along with some cleansing herbs (garden sage, cedar, juniper etc) treating it as incense and waft the smoke over you, taking in the scent indirectly) (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4658430/4654747/4659635)
🌾Another cure was to burn a piece of clothing worn by the possessor of the “evil eye”. (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4798707/4792016/4924255)
🌾Charm for Protection: “The Deer’s Cry” I arise today through the strength of heaven the light of the sun the brilliance of the moon the splendor of fire speed of lightning depth of the sea stability of the earth and the firmness of rock. (https://illustratedprayer.com/2018/03/17/saint-patrick-and-the-cry-of-the-deer/)
🌾Garlic boiled in milk is good for colds (A soup made with garlic and milk among other ingredients would be perfect too!) (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/5070791/5064262/5096665) Along with garlic, onions and wild sage is good for colds too (Add them to your soup!) (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/5009200/4997255/5103281) (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4701685/4692572/4728101)
🌾Hanging a brigid’s cross up over the door or in the house prevents fires. The cross is burned each year in the hearth and a new one is made on Imbolc to continue that protection. (https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4769994/4764934/5013850)
🌾On Bealtaine before sunrise cut the branches of whitethorn and mountain ash. They are wreathed around the door for good luck.
🌾Mountain ash is the safeguard against all witchcraft!
🌾If a branch of mountain ash cut on Bealtaine is woven into the roof of your house, your home will be safe from fire for at least a year. If the branch of mountain ash is woven into the timber of a boat, no storm will upset it and no man will drown for at least a year.
🌾Bind the twigs of the mountain ash cut on Bealtaine around valuable objects to protect them from witchcraft/ hexes and curses (Traditionally bound around milk pails and butter churns)
🌾Herbs picked on Bealtaine will have especially potent magickal healing properties! Especially the Yarrow which is picked for divination. On Bealtaine, find a yarrow plant and dance around it singing: “Yarrow, Yarrow, Yarrow, I bid thee good morrow, And tell me before to-morrow, Who my true love shall be” Then the herb is placed under your head at night and your true lover will appear in your dreams! (https://www.libraryireland.com/AncientLegendsSuperstitions/May-Festival-2.php)
🌾Protection charm for travel: Pluck 10 blades of yarrow, keep 9 and cast the 10th away to the spirits. Put the 9 under your heel in your stocking on your right foot before you travel. (https://www.libraryireland.com/AncientLegendsSuperstitions/Charm-Safety.php) 🌾To attract bees: On May day, gather foxglove (it’s poisonous, be careful), raspberry leaves, wild marjoram, mint, chamomile and velarian and mix them with butter and boil them together with honey. Rub this mixture on to any vessel you wish bees to gather. (https://www.libraryireland.com/AncientLegendsSuperstitions/Attract-Bees.php) Thanks for reading! :D
Witchy Self-Care Tip: Wash Your Feet
At the end of a long day, there can be a strong temptation to just flop onto the nearest comfortable piece of furniture and just shut down. While it does bring relief, here’s one step I recommend taking first to help you cleanse, de-stress, and disengage from the working portion of your day.
When you get home, put your accoutrements away and wash your hands. Attend to any first-thing-in-the-door rituals you have. Then go to your tub, take off your shoes and socks, get any long garments or trouser legs out of the way, and wash your feet.
It doesn’t have to be a full bath. You don’t have to bend or scrub. It doesn’t have to take more than a minute. The water can be whatever temperature is comfortable for you. Use a bucket or run the tap, whichever is easier. Flex your toes a bit, let the water run between them. Let it flow over your ankles if you can.
As you do, take some deep breaths and consciously let go of the working or schooling or errand-running portion of your day. That’s done with, and you’re home. You might still have some things to do over the course of the evening, but you’re headed for some nice leisure time too. If it helps, you can visualize the stress flowing out through your feet and into the water to be washed down the drain.
If you wish, you can add soothing herbs or bath oils to the water before washing your feet. These can be aligned to whatever magical purpose you like.
When you’re done, rinse the tub, dry off your feet, and go about your evening. I recommend clean footwear like fresh socks or house shoes if you don’t wish to go barefoot.
I do this every day when I get home, with a bucket of cool water in my tub. It’s very refreshing, especially on hot days, and I’ve found it a very soothing way to separate my work day from my evening time. Plus, it cleans my feet and softens my calluses. In the winter, I use hot water and it’s a pleasant way to warm up after tromping around in the cold or sitting in a chilly office all day.
Just a little something to help with your daily cleansing routines. Hope you enjoy!
