The biggest joy I've had in my life this year (other than my pets) has been yapping about Tevan with @bucktommyfan on a pretty much daily basis. 💜
That inspired me to compile a list of the many, many, MANY reasons why I/we adore Tommy and Tevan. (For the record, I'm a Buck girlie first and foremost but I didn't compile a list of everything I love about Buck because, well, it would take me approx. 7 years to do so!)
I figured I'd turn this 'character + ship manifesto' of sorts into a Tumblr pinned post to cheer myself (and hopefully other bucktommies who might need it) up and also to 'troll-proof' my ask box: if you're genuinely curious about what makes this ship so compelling for me, you're about to find out in (excruciating 🤣) detail; if you send me an anon message to ask, I'll know you're a troll/copypasta trying to waste my time and you'll be ignored, sorrynotsorry.
So, without further ado, here we go!

- Tommy's competence in several fields (firefighting/piloting | basketball | Muay Thai | mechanical engineering.).
✨️TOMMY✨️
- His quick thinking (see his first scene in 7x03).
- His sarcasm and sassiness and black humor ("We're probably all gonna die anyway." | "Practically everything." | "They had Henleys in the 80s!" | "Enjoy it while it lasts!").
- His bravery-bordering-on-insanity on the job (flying through a hurricane + doing "something incredibly stupid" in 8x15).
- How Tommy's personal growth/redemption journey didn't make him sickeningly immaculate but left him flawed in a way that makes him relatable and interesting yet worth rooting for.
- His longing for a family/belonging (7x04 | 7x10 | 8x05).
- His adorably versatile scrunchy faces.
- His loyalty (from helping the 118 at every turn down to simpler things such as wanting to clear the air because he thought he'd been the cause of bad blood between Buck and Eddie).
- How confident yet insecure and vulnerable he is at the same time (see the emotional rollercoaster that is the whole first kiss scene but also the 7x04 build up to the kiss vs. the coffee date in 7x05).
- His cute little wave at the girls in the otherwise awful restaurant scene in 8x06.
- How open and vulnerable he was in 8x11.
✨️TEVAN✨️
- Buck having the cutest coming out in tv history in 7x06 thanks to Tommy.
- The way Buck looks at Tommy AND ACTUALLY SIGHS during the medal ceremony in 7x09.
- The Tommy/Henren deleted scene from 7x09.
- Lou’s golden comedic timing (especially in the first hospital scene in 8x05).
- The way Buck and Tommy look together being so similar (both big guys, both blue-eyed...) yet so unalike (I'm enthralled by how different the blue in their eyes is, for one thing).
- The way Buck smiles and flutters his eyelashes around Tommy.
- How disappointed to part ways they both look in 7x03.
- The way Tommy makes Buck adorably flustered and coy and dazed, especially while talking about Muay Thai and flying lessons leading up to their first kiss + right after the kiss + in 7x05 (I will never get over *hand gesture* whatever Buck's face does when Tommy says: "Then I guess it's just me that makes you nervous.").
- The utter fondness in Tommy's eyes whenever he looks at Buck.
- The sexual chemistry and scorching attraction between them (from the way they look at each other's lips in 7x04 and 7x06 down to the 8x11 hookup).
- The way they unknowingly gravitate towards one another in the first kiss scene.
- The playful bantering and flirting between them (fake mouth static | "you're a vision in a cone" | daddy issues | the coffee maker).
- The way Tommy listens to Buck and supports him (see 8x05) without pandering to him (see how he tells him Buck doesn't seem ready to move into Eddie's house in 8x11).
- How Tommy constantly checks in with Buck (right after their first kiss | during the loft date in 7x10 | the morning after in 8x11).
- How Tommy always tries to let Buck down gently (leaving with Eddie in 7x03 | prematurely ending their first date in 7x05 | the breakup in 8x06).
- The way Tommy reassures Buck during the coffee date in 7x05.
- How Tommy consistently shows up for Buck in spite of how early it is in their relationship (Madney's wedding | all of 8x05) or of their relationship status (8x15).
- What a considerate and doting boyfriend AND ex boyfriend he is to Buck.
- The way Buck looks while talking about Tommy to Maddie in 7x05.
- Buck's special bashful Tommy smileTM (see the coming out to Maddie scene in 7x05 + the smile as he answers Josh's questions and the "not your spumoni" one in 8x06).
- "I kinda can't stop thinking about him."
- The fact that they even made me enjoy the daddy kink in fanfic!
- How happy Buck was with Tommy as opposed to how depressed he's been since they broke up, long before life piled up on it with Bobby dying and his so-called 'family' pretty much kicking him to the curb.
- The Buck/Tommy/Eddie dynamic before Eddie became so unlikable to me.
- "Our people are what makes life worth living."
- "Why be apart when we can be together?" EXACTLY. WHYYYYYYYY???
- "They can be the same thing."
- The incessant baking. Which Tommy should learn about at some point, otherwise it's just gratuitously bad writing.
- The fact that Buck started to decorate the loft a little and could finally sleep in the apartment he was subletting from Eddie after getting together with Tommy.
- The way Buck was trying (and failing) to tone down how excited and hopeful he was at the prospect of him and Tommy getting back together (8x11).

Saw your why I love the ship post in the #bucktommy tag and I wanted to ask something. I promise this isn't intended as a troll because I was in the tag because I track it and am also a shipper.
What did you mean when saying you like this about Tommy?
How Tommy's personal growth/redemption journey didn't make him sickeningly immaculate but left him flawed in a way that makes him relatable and interesting yet worth rooting for.
I feel like the main flaw we discover Tommy has is his insecurity and that doesn't feel connected much, if at all, with his redemptive journey. I know fanon and headcanons like to link Tommy's involvement in workplace microaggressions and the toxic workplace culture encouraged by Gerrard with our discovery in S7 that he came out late in life. Is that what you mean? I just feel like other things we see in S7 onwards Tommy - his sense humor and boundary-setting (after the failed first date) - aren't flaws though a lot of fandom treats them like that.

What I meant is that, while Tommy has turned out to be pretty darn awesome, 😏 1. he's still got some internalized biphobia to exorcise and 2. he's a bit (arguably a lot?) of a coward when it comes to his own love life and I love that, in a frustrated kind of way, because it leaves room for improvement and even more personal development that we're never going to see because this is the billionaire-survives-being-eaten-by-a-whale show, let's be real! 🤦♀️
I was rewatching Lou’s epic interview with Katey, as you do... 😜 Because I'm slow, I didn't really catch it the first FIVE BILLION TIMES 🤣 I watched it, but, around the 3:00 minute mark, Lou - albeit in a very confusing way because he says 'Oliver' instead of 'Eddie' or 'Ryan' 👀 *insert my Louliver senses tingling here* 🤣😉 (yes, I AM kidding) - mentions a line about flying a helicopter to the Coliseum that was meant to be a throwback to 7x04 which was originally included in the helicopter chase and clearly ended up on the cutting room floor.
